resolution mug sales program
TRANSCRIPT
A Simple Sales Program
To stimulate traffic and sales, based on
Rewarding customers for spending
As opposed to offering a discount.
How It Works…
Brief Description: When a customer spends a minimum
Amount they are rewarded with a free mug to paint
Their New Years Resolution.
They are also, automatically entered to win a gift card for
the “Best Resolution” – to be selected by staff.
Suggested Timing: The 2-day program was tested successfully on:
New Years Eve Day & New Years Day.
These days had short holiday hours.
Suggested Spend: The program was tested successfully with a spend of $15
on bisque, not including studio fee. We encourage a
minimum spend of $25, however this is up to you. Tools
have been provided to accommodate you choosing from
$15, $20, $25, $35 & $40.
You do the math. If your goal is to get
50 or 75 people a day, you know your
customers, choose the spend that
you feel they’ll respond to.
Suggested Execution: In most cases it is recommended that a
reward voucher for free product be provided at the time of
pick up, for use on a future visit. This ensures a full sale
and two studio fees. However, in this case an exception is
made. Customers should be required to make that initial
spend and then paint the free mug both on the same
holiday visit.
Designate the Mug: Be clear about what mug will be
Provided. Do not let customers think they’ll be able to
select any mug off the shelf. Create a display (huge
pyramid of mugs in the window?!) so there is no
confusion.
Mug Quantities: How many mugs you need will be a
mystery unless you require reservations.
Advertise that reservations are
recommended as it’s “while supplies
last” and push reservations
throughout the weeks prior.
RSVP: There are two ways to offer an RSVP:
• Come in any time on either day, your RSVP ensures
you a mug
• Select a day & time, your RSVP ensures you a mug
and a seat at the time of your choice
Advertise: Push this promotion throughout the weeks prior. Ramp up
your efforts as “painting gifts” nears it’s end.
• Have employees extend a verbal invitation at events
and as customers wrap up painting, and then ask
again as they pay. *Give them a few minutes to think
about it rather than blind siding them when they’re on
their way out.
• On your website (multiple pages)
• On Facebook
• In the studio: Posters & TT
Have Fun: When you and your staff are truly
Excited about something, it comes across to the customer
And gets them more interested. It also ultimately results
in a more fun and dynamic event. So sit down with
employees and brainstorm a fun display and ways to
spice up the actual event days. Let your employees paint
their own resolution mugs for the display.
Goal vs. Actual: How many mugs are you ordering?
How many people are you hoping to have paint?
Set some goals. Track your progress in getting those
reservations and keep your employees enthusiastic about
selling it. Consider offering an incentive to the employee
who gets the most on the spot RSVPs. Consider a team
reward as well.
