Resolution to Amend the Immigration Planks
of the Republican Party of Texas Platform
This resolution is in response to feedback received by Hispanics reached duringoutreach events and initiatives. Currently, the verbiage in our Platform is crafted
in a way that sends the wrong message to the Hispanic community as well as
immigrants in general who come to America.
Our goal is to alter slightly the descriptive while keeping the intent of the
Platform. We have listed the original text from page 27 of the RPT Platform,
along with a revised version for your review.
If we truly want to engage the community and open our doors to allConservatives, then we must have a Platform that resonates with those were
trying so hard to reach. Please consider submitting this to your County
Convention so it can be addressed at the State Convention.

EFORE:
egal Immigration One nation, one flag, one language, one loyalty;
merica is a country of immigrants, we should insist that any immigrant
who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates
imself/herself to the United States. He/she shall be treated on an exact
quality with everyone else. This is predicated upon the fact that the person
in every facet an American, and nothing but an American. There can be
o divided allegiance. Anyone who says he is an American, but something
lse also, isnt American at all. We have room but for one flag, the American
lag. We have room for but one language here and that is the English
anguage. We have room for but one sole loyalty and that is loyalty to the
merican people. (Teddy Roosevelt, 1907)
legal Immigration Secure the Borders Now.
With growing impatience the American people in overwhelming numbers
ave asked our Government to secure our borders. They now demand it

he U.S. constitution to suspend automatic U.S. citizenship to children born

reventing any foreign entity from using our judicial system to enter thenited States; document verification prior to issuance of a Texas drivers

censes to illegal aliens; and aggressive prosecution of persons smuggling
