We are on a constant journey of innovation - to bring out the hidden talents, aspirations, thoughts and ideas of each and every Christ Nagarian - may be a poet, a writer, a critic, a philosopher etc.

The simple ideas we are trying to pen on in our own humble style. The big hearts were so many

- who stood with us- who inspired us- who guided us- who gave cherishable memories- who walked hand in hand with us

Before each and every event, every dream of the people who worked hard to make this “Christ Nagar - a dream come true” for the last 20 years with hope and confidence - we bow our heads.

With the blessings of the true shepherd Jesus Christ - we are presenting this piece of our heart.

Abackdrop of the Vicennial Celebration of the

school, I am seized with a nostalgia that takes me to

the time twenty years back when, as Manager of

Christ Nagar School, Kowdiar, I joined the visionary

Fathers Rev Fr Thomas Vempala CMI, Rev Fr E C

John Edamala CMI, the late Rev Fr James

Pattarkalam CMI, Rev Fr George Thevalakara CMI,

Rev Fr Job Edathinatt CMI, Rev Fr Mathew

Thengumpally CMI and Fr Cyriac Kanayil CMI in

helping the efforts of Christ Hall Monastery to

establish a CBSE School in a rural area so that a

high quality education could be provided to the

children in the area just as in city schools.

Twenty years ago, with the blessings of the then

Provincial Rev Fr Dr Thomas Kalam CMI, Christ Hall

purchased 9 acres of land at the top of this beautiful

hillock at Thiruvallam and named it Chavarapuram.

The community had at that time a definite plan and a clear vision of the

Thiruvallam project. The purpose of the project was to make the

establishment eventually independent of Christ Hall Monastery and hand it

over to the CMI Provincial House when the school becomes economically

viable. A part of the building of the Christ Nagar Public School (CBSE) was

constructed with 24 classes at an approximate construction cost of Rs.80

lakhs. This was only one fourth of the building as per the master plan

prepared by Rev Fr E C John CMI and the building was to be completed

stage by stage as situation demanded.

I quote from the Chronicle of Christ Hall Monastery Page 305. “I would like

to mention that this noble venture has become a reality because of the

cooperation and whole hearted support from the members of Christ Hall

Community and the parents of the students of Christ Nagar School under

the able and dynamic leadership of Fr.Thomas Vempala CMI”.

On this Vicennial year, we recall with much gratitude the young inmates of

Christ Hall Monastery for their heroic efforts and sacrifices for this project.

From then on, Christ Nagar, Thiruvallam became part of history marked by

events and incidents, achievements and accomplishments, records and

recognitions. I had the joy of watching at close range from Kowdiar in later

years the remarkable developments taking place on this hill top school

under the brilliant leadership of a succession of Managers and Principals

ably supported by the staff and the parent community.

The glorious 9 year period of Dr Fr Mathew Thengumpally CMI as Principal

saw a big takeoff of the school in all areas. Academics particularly touched

the orbit of excellence. Rev Fr Mathew Arekalam CMI took the school

through an infrastructural revolution - a Chavara Stadium, a multipurpose

auditorium and a beautiful Junior School to mention only a few. The short 4

month period of Rev Fr Sebastian Attichira CMI witnessed a sudden

second takeoff of the school in academics which still continues.

The fact that I am here today to preside over the yearlong Vicennial

Celebration of the school is only a divine plan. And now, the baton is

passed on into our hands to carry it forward and we need to undertake a

vigorous action programme upholding the lofty ideals of education as

envisaged by our founder St.Kuriakose Elias Chavara. May this garden of

virtues continue to stand as a beacon on this hilltop of Thiruvallam

brightening up the villages around and bringing allround growth of the

people. May God bless us all.

When asked by a responsbile member of the Editorial Board to

pen a few lines on my Christ Nagar experience I agreed without

the slightest hesitation. Later in the evening, I sat down with a

paper and pen with the confidence of a prolific writer. Moments

passed one by one in quick succession. Not a thought or a word

occured to my mind for long. Just a sentence to begin with was

all that I wanted. Slowly frustration began to show itself. It didn’t

take me too long to realize that I was going through a mental

block experience, not a Christ Nagar experience. When you

have an endless number of things before you on display in a

wide ranging variety such as you have in a Shoe mart or in an

optical shop from which you have to choose just one item or

two, the task becomes agonizing and, most often, you end up

choosing none and leave the shop to try elsewhere.

The history of Christ Nagar in the 20 year period is densely

packed with outstanding events and incidents and, to choose a

couple or more from them, is indeed difficult. Except for the

initial 2 to 3 years, I had been an eye witness to the rapid

developments taking place in the school year after year.

Incredible would be the word that would best describe the

developments. It was truly an all comprehensive development

such as in infrastructure, academics, skill development,

character formation, sports and games, internal and external

competitions, student-teacher support programmes, English

language development programmes, recognitions coming to

school at state level, national level and even at international

level not excluding one from a socio religious level such as

Pope John Paul II Best School Award. To be even a small part

of an institution such as this that gets into International lime light

would be the dream of any celebrity crazy individual and, to be

frank, I was not an exception. I loved to be known as a Christ

Nagarian and I never let go an opportunity to project myself

before an audience as an important member of this Christ

Nagar School staff. That gave me the highest pride and I enjoy

it to this day.

Christ Nagar means everything to me. This prestigious and

sacred institution has moulded me to such a level that I feel

complete. It adds a true meaning to my life. A long span of 23

years -- lot of experience, bitter as well as sweet - contact with

thousands of students, parents and well wishers -- I enjoyed

thoroughly!!! I feel proud to work in this institution which provides

an excellent - learning environment to the students. They are

made aware of their values, social commitment, responsibilities

etc. The school provides a platform for the students to

understand the pain of the poor and needy in the society and an

opportunity to help them in the most suitable way taking up

different projects based on charity. Christ Nagar always

recognises people of merit and quality. Students who have

passed out of this school have excelled in different fields such as

Civil Services, Medicine, Engineering, Business, Law, Navy and

so on...... They are my asset !

It also provides a good working atmosphere for the teachers. I am

sure a teacher of CNSSS will be an outstanding one wherever he

/ she goes. I would like to thank, in this context, many people and

priests especially Rev Fr Thomas Vempala CMI, who is

instrumental in giving me the opportunity to step into this great

school. I greatly acknowledge the support and guidance

extended to me by the school management. I pray earnestly to

God Almighty that He shall bless me with sound health and

energy so that I can serve this school for more years. Hail Christ

Nagar!

Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.

As I write this, I remember the day when I

joined this school as a teacher for a

period of 19 years. The school has grown

in a remarkable way in all areas since

them. The ambience, the infrastructure

and the facilities in the school have

changed a lot. As I look back I feel proud

to say that I was a part of its growth, and

I am proud to be a Christ Nagarian.

It was like a dream come true for me to have been

appointed as a teacher in Christ Nagar Public School

18 years ago. That is what the present Christ Nagar

Senior Secondary School used to be called at that

time. Since my first day in the school, every next day

was almost like a bright new day to me. My joy of being

in this school with the wonderful kids in my class and

with the highly encouraging and supportive colleagues

kept increasing with every passing day. I do not,

however, mean to say that I was always with out

problems. I did have my ups and downs in my school

life; but I managed them successfully with the love of

my students and the support of my colleagues. It has

been a wonderful journey for me in Christ Nagar in the

last 18 years and now my cup of joy is full.

Hail Christ Nagar !

1998 was a year of both delight and despair for me. Delight in being a part of this great institution, right in its budding stage and despair due to the sudden demise of my elder daughter Smrithi. Depression, distress and overwhelming misery almost egulfed me. But Christ Nagar helped me to overcome those negative emotions. The innocent and expectant faces in front of me filled the void in me and gave me the courage, hope and inspiration to live. Slowly the school became a part of my being - Teaching a passion more than a job. Christ Nagar led me to the eternal, everlasting and unconditional love of Christ. I hope and wish this Alma Matar may be the source of wisdom and knowledge and let many souls be able to attain salvation by lighting their lamps from this sacred fice and all Christ Nagarians be the lights illuminating this dark world surrounded with gloom.

True leaders don't create followers, they create more leaders.

PTAReview

I still remember my days when my daughter was studying in Christ Nagar senior Secondary School Thiruvallom, Trivandrum during 1999-2008. At that time I was assigned the responsibility of being the secretary and later the president of PTA. It was a wonderful period all through with some initial turbulence and the school was galloping at full throttle to academic and extracurricular excellence. The school Management was very keen to know PTA’s concerns, suggestions and advices inorder to correct the system. The Principal Fr Dr Mathew Thengumpally was leading in all activities of the school so nicely that the days of study of my daughter became wonderful. She was given expert coaching in reading contemporary English literature and this helped her to develop outstanding communication skills which is still helping her to be noticed everywhere. There were lots of opportunities for students to perform both in academics and extracurricular activities. Those good days would have given the school enough momentum on its way to present excellence. I wish the school all the best, thank the teachers and bless the students that they may realize their dreams by hard work and through God Almighty’s blessings.

Christ Nagar Senior Secondary School, Thiruvallom has made a mark in creative schooling and moulding of personalities, by laying a moral and disciplined foundation for the education of our children, the future flag bearers of our great nation, India. I have been associated with the school as PTA president or secretary for almost a decade. I learnt that students love to come to the school. The inspiration given to children for nurturing their cultural flames and scientific dreams is extraordinary. It was indeed a pleasure to see the school coming up in good shape year after year in infrastructure, students’ training, communication skills, scientific temper build up, cultural and soft skill development, sports, and social interaction as well as in moral upbringing which is of utmost importance off-late. I congratulate the Principal, teachers, office staff, the bus crew, ayas and all those who are associated with the school for their commitment and wish

ththem all the best on its 20 anniversary.

It gives me great joy to know that Christ Nagar Senior Secondary

School, Thiruvallam is going to publish a souvenir on the joyous

occasion of completing 20 successful years in its journey.

I am very much proud of this school, especially for the very reason

that from the very inception the institution upheld the lofty ideals of

education and maintained itself as an excellent center of learning. I

also proudly acknowledge that the school PTA had always played a

vital role by giving full cooperation to the management, the CMI

fathers.

As PTA President for the last seven years, I witnessed a fantastic and

incredible growth of the school almost to the level of international

standards. The school excelled both in accademic and co-curricular

activities over these years and thus it has become one among the most

sought after schools in kerala.

I wish the school the very best in its journey ahead. Hail Christ Nagar!

Hey guys! wassup!?

I’ve lots of great memories attached to Christ Nagar Senior Secondary School. You could call me a long term thstudent of CNS as I joined in 4 std. and completed my schooling there. It took loads of perseverance to stick

to one place. It helped me mould myself into the person I am now; both in a good way and a bad way. It taught

me the true meaning of education which, to some, may be just studying within the 4 walls of the classroom. No, not at all. It

taught me to be a better person with both sympathy and empathy. It taught me what life truly is! CNSSS prepared me to face the

worst and I’m quite thankful to CNSSS for the reason that it made me strong, I owe to Christ Nagar teachers most of what I am

now. My life in Christ Nagar will remain forever my most cherished memory. CNSSS gave me all sorts of opportunities to bring

out the best in me, to showcase my talents. I even got to be a French teacher for almost 2 weeks which was sight before my

12th board results were out. Fortunately or unfortunately, I had to call it quits as I had to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor.

And here I am, anxious! as to where life will take me next. But one thing is for sure; Everytime I walk into that school, it has that

magic that brings in all the joys and warmth of one big family. Hope you all feel the same way.

Dr. Kiran Soni A SS K Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram

Be humble, Be kind & never ever give up hope

The moment I hear any reference to CNSSS, it brings back vivid happy memories even today. I joined the thschool in my 4 standard when the school was only into its second year at the Thiruvallam campus. I still

remember that there was just one block of building with limited student strength. From then, in the 8 years I

spent since, I witnessed massive development in both infrastructure and academic prowess. A lot of credit for

this goes to the visionary leadership of Fr. Dr. Mathew Thengumpally carried out in a signature style aided by a

capable team of teachers. The formative years that I spent at CNSSS laid a very strong foundation for my overall development.

On the academic front, I was able to excel in both science (B.Tech from College of Engineering Trivandrum) and social science

(PhD in Management from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode). The mandatory English speaking in school

developed excellent communication skills (both oral and written) holding me in very good stead professionally. Even today, I

rely on the network of friends that I have from school for professional support. However, more than the academic and

professional benefits, I value the personality development through the implicit inculcation of value system and discipline. I will

always be grateful to my Alma Mater for the path that was paved out for my future.

Christ Nagar has always been my first family. It is the place where I did my entire school theducation, 10 years at Kowdiar and 2 years at Thiruvallom. Our’s was the 10 batch that

passed out of the school in 2008. The school has been instrumental in moulding me into what thI am today. On this occasion when the school has reached its 20 anniversary, I’m so happy

and proud to say that I’m always a Christ nagarian.

Who would think that a girl who studied 12 years in one school and just 2 years in Christ Nagar would say she is a Christ Nagar product? That is me. I knew much about the school even before I joined it. I still remember the

thday I came here for admission interview after my 10 result especialy the warm welcome from Rev Fr Dr Mathew Thengumpally CMI. It was with so many mixed feelings that I came to the school on the first day. The two years in CNSSS taught me many things beyond academics. It gave me the confidence to face any situation in life, to handle any kind of pressure with equanimity, to take up leadership roles when situation

demanded. All the events right from science fair to Annual day are still fresh in my mind. Coming to the teachers - the best part of Christ Nagar - all of them were so sweet and caring. They all were the epitome of knowledge and patience. Without them, I wouldn’t have reached where I am now. The stories of two years cannot be limited to a few words. There is much more than this, the school bus journeys and fun with friends are life time memories to cherish. I can honestly say that I would have gained a lot more if I had the fortune to join Christ Nagar in Class I.

Sreelekshmi SreekumarWorking Abroad

It all started from a small classroom in 1999 - my long journey from KINDERGARTEN to standard 12 in Christ Nagar filled with laughter, friendships, jealousy and sadness etc. etc. If I get a chance to go into flash back like movies, there is no doubt that I will enjoy my school life once again with my school friends. It’s been almost 6 years since I left the safe confines of my school to enter this competitive world where everyone is in a hurry. More than the peer pressure it was the sudden change from a place where school teachers went to great extent to make sure that we were comfortable in our own space. In 1999, when I came to Christ Nagar for the

first time as a 4 year old kid wearing a pinafore it was a big white building on both the sides with lots of decorations to welcome their kindergarten babies, infact the very first batch of Christ Nagar. So in short we 1999 batch and Christ Nagar started our journey together. From there I started my journey through rough sea of letters, words and numbers. My biggest happiness in Christ Nagar was the youth festival, where I could bunk classes and go for practices. The garden was the biggest attraction during those times where we used to spend a lot of free time having fun with my 4 friends since childhood. I really miss all those silly fights, punishments, monthly tests and free periods. My account of the school days would be incomplete without a mention of my most favourite Principal, Headmaster and my lovely Teachers; I can never forget them. Years passed by & Christ Nagar is now one among the biggest campuses in Trivandrum and a top rated institution. I feel extremely proud. Hail Christ Nagar !

Nitheesh NScientific Officer, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research Department of Atomic Energy

I joined the school in my standard 1 in 1997 at Kowdiar campus and shifted to Thiruvallam campus in 1998 in standard 2. There was only one block at the right of entrance with limited student strength. Within an incredibly short period it grew phenominally in academics, infrastructure and in other areas and soon emerged as one of the most preferred CBSE schools in Trivandrum. Fr. Dr. Mathew Thengumpally, the then Principal was mainly the man behind this achievement. I learned from Christ Nagar a lot of values needed for living a successful life. It moulded my character, taught me to face challenges in life, to put the best efforts in any work entrusted to me, to accept corrections whenever required and even to accept failures with equanimity. In my present position as Scientific Officer in the department of Atomic Energy, the values Christ Nagar imbibed in me stand me good stead and I am forever greateful to my Alma Mater. I wish Christ Nagar much greater heights as a centre of education.

Likha RajanMedical Student

12 best years of my life were spent on these serene premises. In those wonder years, I grew up from the child

to a confident young person through the guidance of my mentors Fr Mathew Thengumpally CMI, Fr Mathew

Arekalam CMI and friends with whom I have forged a lifelong bond. This is where I first gained knowledge,

discovered the ways of world and the enchanting experience of art. I am eternally greateful for the

opportunities, I received here for developing a talent, which I never knew I had, with the guidance and support

of my gurus. One of the best moments in my life so far, is the day I was invited to be, the chief guest of the Kids Day of the very

school where I studied. To be on the stage facing my younger mates and addressing them was an exhilarating experience.

Christ Nagar for me is the home and all staff and students are my extended family. I feel delighted to be a part of the exclusive

band of alumni. On this occasion, I convey my warmest greetings and the most sincere wishes to one and all.

Oh! Glorious Christ Nagar.......‘Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.’ These famous words by Nelson

Mandela aptly highlights the importance of education - a journey filled with hardships, knowledge and

realization. And the first step to that long journey starts at school. I guess I was pretty lucky to read at a school,

widely considered one of the best in Kerala, one which gave me ample opportunities to showcase my latent

talents. I joined the Christ Nagar Senior Secondary School in grade 11, and even though I got to spend only 2 years at this

beautiful school, those 2 years were the most cherished ones of my school life. Whenever I speak of my school, the first thing

that comes to my mind are my teachers. That a teacher should be like a candle lighting the way for others while burning itself

out, was exemplified in them. Other than imparting knowledge, they helped us to become noble personalities. I shall forever

remain grateful to my teachers and bear testimony to the ideals upheld by this great institution. Let me conclude that what I am

now I owe most of it to my teachers in Christ Nagar School and because of this, I feel the presence of the eternal Teacher Jesus

Christ in the hundreds of patients who throng the portals of my college. Hail Glorious Christ Nagar !

Nine years ago, I came to this Alma Mater and at that time, I did not realize that this place would

become a paradise on earth for me for the next five years. I got a family of teachers and students who

always wanted to bring out the best in me and showered boundless affection on me. Christ Nagar

instilled the confidence in me that it is indeed possible to manage academics and co-curricular

activities hand in hand. The smile on the face of a kindergarten student while greeting me on

Students’ Day and the trust in the eyes of the Principal, when I was made the school leader in 2012 shall always be

remembered. Wherever I go, whenever I feel low, I remind myself that I shall not let my school down and that there are

many people praying for my success and happiness. I cannot thank this place enough for carving out the person I am

today! Hearty congratulations to our family for completing 20 years. Hail Christ Nagar!

Distinguished Chief Guest of the day Mr Paul Antony IAS, Chief Secretary,

Government of Kerala, our Respected President of the function Rev Fr Robin

Ananthakattu CMI, our Respected Guests of Honour Rev Fr Mathew

Arekalam CMI, Rev Fr Varghese Panakalam CMI, our Provincial Auditor Rev

Fr Cyriac Kochupura CMI, our Financial Administrator Rev Fr Chacko

Puthukulam CMI, Mrs Beena Paul Antony, PTA President Mr K S Renjulal,

Shri Murali, Unit Manager, Mathrubhoomi, Dr T Sagar, Superintendent,

Mental Hospital, all our invited guest Rev Fathers, Sisters and all our dear

members of Christ Nagar family.

It gives me immense pleasure to place before you the Annual Report of the

activities and achievements, events and incidents of the academic year

2017-2018 and many other areas which left an impact on the all round

formation of our students during the academic year 2017-2018.

The school started in the year 1998 has completed 2 decades of dedicated

service to the student community at Thiruvallam and around. The entire

Christ Nagar family is, therefore, in a celebrative mood and filled with an

immeausurable degree of gratitude to the Almighty for the countless

blessings He has showered on the school althrough the 20 year period.

As this Annual Day falls during the Vicennial celebration, I recall with much

gratitude that it was the far sighted vision and the optimism of the community

of CMI Fathers at Christ Hall headed by its Prior Fr Mathews Chackalackal

CMI with Rev Fr Thomas Vempala CMI the then Principal of Christ Nagar

English School with the financial support of the parents of Christ Nagar

School, Kowdiar that helped this hilltop school at Thiruvallam to become a

reality. It was the engineering vision of Rev Fr E C John CMI, an IIT Rank

holder that helped the foundation and infrastructural development of the

school within a short time.

The journey we started in 1998 with all the hurdles on the way has now

reached a stage when we are able to provide quality education to nearly 5000

students helped by 183 teachers and 83 members of the non-teaching staff

supported by an infrastructure comparable with any other school in the state.

I recal l wi th grat i tude the

valuable role played by our

Respected former Managers and

Principals from time to time in

shaping the destiny of the school

during the 20 year period.

As you all know it was after Rev

Fr Sebastian Attichira CMI that I

took over as Principal this year. I

am indeed grateful for the unfailing support and guidance I received and

continue to receive from my Provincial Rev Fr Sebastian

Chamathra CMI. I am grateful to my Manager Rev Fr Robin

Ananthakattu CMI for the enormous confidence he has

reposed in me. The presence of Rev Fr Cyriac Kochupura

CMI, our Provincial Auditor and that of Rev Fr Chacko

Puthukulam, our Financial Administrator has taken the

burden of daily administration in their hands and it has

made me comparatively at ease.

I take this as a great privilege to the school to have our

Chief Secretary today as our Chief Guest at this celebration. We feel

privileged that Antony Sir maintains a close relationship with the CMI family

and we pray that his office continues to remain an instrument of help, support

and solace to the citizens.

Christ Nagar family as a whole is filled with an immeasurable degree of

gratitude to the Almighty for the countless blessings He has showered on this

school during this academic year. The school is presently in a celebrative

mood having completed 2 decades of glorious history dotted with Mirabilia

and Memorabilia – a series of unforgettably marvelous happenings. I would

like to call to mind the names of our illustrious Managers and Principals who

shaped the destiny of this school during the 20 year period, starting with our

beloved Rev. Fr Thomas Vempala, Mrs Mythili Kesavaswamy, Rev. Fr

Mathew Thayil, Rev Fr Mathew Thengumpally, Rev. Fr Kurian Chalangady,

Rev. Fr Joseph Ayyamkary, Rev. Fr Mathew Arekalam, Rev. Fr Sebastian

Attichira and, at present, the school rests in the hands of the young, energetic

and resourceful, Manager Rev. Fr Robin Ananthakattu CMI whom I have the

privilege to help in my capacity as the Principal. By the grace of God, we also

have in the school Rev. Fr Cyriac Kochupura CMI, the Provincial Auditor, and

Rev. Fr Chacko Puthukulam CMI, our Bursar to guide us on the right path.

As this Annual Day falls during the Vicennial celebration of the school I consider it

my duty to inform you that it was the far-sighted vision and the optimism of the

community of Fathers at Christ Hall 20 years ago that this hilltop school at

Thiruvallam became a reality. The community was unanimous in their belief that a

CBSE school, if set up at a place like Thiruvallam would turn out to be a boon to

the large student population in and around the area who wanted to study through

the central syllabus. A team of Fathers under the leadership of Rev Fr Thomas

Vempala, the then Principal of Christ Nagar English Medium School, Kowdiar

and helped by Fr E C John, our Engineer and Fr Mathews Chackalackal, that is

myself, the then Manager of

Christ Nagar Group of School

at Kowdiar undertook a

search for a suitable site for

the school. The search finally

zeroed down on this hilltop at

Thiruval lam which had

nothing at that time to offer

except bare rocks, thickets of

wild bushes coconut trees

here and there, winding narrow foot paths, uphills and down hills, with no trace of

drinking water or electricity etc. could be turned into a great center of learning. It is

29

Page 30: resolve to emerge with optimism. 2 - 39.pdf · Rev. Fr Chacko Puthukulam CMI Rev. Fr Ninan Thekkumthara CMI Rev. Fr Thomas Cheppila CMI Rev. Fr Mathews Chackalackal CMI Rev. Fr Joseph

difficult even to imagine that the same hilltop is now a centre of learning with

nearly 5000 students, 183 teachers and 83 members in the non-teaching staff

and also a state of the art infra-structure, comparable with any other in the state.

We have no words to express adequately our gratitude to this man of God gifted

with a vision par excellence. It is in this context that we observed a ‘Vicennial year

of gratitude’ to Jesus Christ, then to St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara the founder of

the CMI congregation and lastly to all those individuals who had a role in the

foundation and steady growth of this Christ Nagar Senior Secondary School. May

God bless him with many years of happy and healthy life.

I am indeed happy to mention that the school has always been marching ahead

on the path shown by St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara nearly a century and half ago,

zealously engaged in the right formation of the children entrusted to our care,

taking inspiration from the immortal words of the Saint “a¡ Ä, kÀtÆizc³ X¼pcm³ kq£ n¸m\mbn«p

\n§ fpsS I¿n Fev]n¨ncn¡ p¶ Hcp \nt£ ]amIp¶p.”

“Children are a treasure entrusted to you by God to take care of “

It is a happy coincidence that the year 2018 - the Vicennial anniversary of our thschool is also the 150 anniversary of the issue of St Chavara’s famous

Testament of a Loving Father “Oru Nalla Appante Chavarul” which contains

valuable practical directions to families for leading a God fearing and socially

commendable life. Taking cognizance of this fact we have arranged a symposium thin the school on the Testament on Sunday 11 February involving the participation

of the people closely associated with this school and with the CMI congregation.

Dr Babu Paul IAS and Shri. John Paul, Eminent Writer will be the resource

persons.

As a true CMI institution, our students are being groomed according to the vision

of St Kuriakose Elias Chavara, who advocated an all round development of the

students. All our educational

programmes are directed towards

this end. However, we have

placed our priority on Academics.

All our Teaching and Learning

Programmes are regular ly

monitored through a strict

supervisory system and through

periodical assessments of their

performance. Support programme

are frequently arranged both for students and teachers separately using

resource people from outside. Although academic is our priority we do not

underemphasize physical, social and spiritual development. We have recently

started a Sports Academy and have started training students professionally in

popular games. We have joined hands with the NANMA programme of

Mathrubhumi and VKC group and help students to involve themselves in social

commitment activities. Students also receive spiritual guidance and character

enrichment talksby resource persons.

It was indeed a shot in the arm for me that Rev Fr Cyriac Kochupura CMI and Rev

Fr Chacko Puthukulam CMI joined the school during the academic year. Their

great knowledge, rich experience and expertise in administration is a great boon

to our School and a source of guidance to me. We thank God for their presence

with us in the school.

The school participated in the Sugama

Hindi examination 2016-17 and

secured a 100% pass result. Our students Ashish Swami of Class VI and Madhav

Hari of Class VIII secured the first rank and the third rank respectively at the state

level. Our school also received the trophy for registering the highest number of

candidates for the examination.

Our student Lekshmi S is credited with the Runner up Trophy in the National level

competition conducted by SIP Abacus 2017.

We believe that students need some time together away from

school to relax and refresh themselves and learn from new

experiences coming from new environments. We arranged class

tours for our students to places far and near taking care of their

age difference. The destinations included Magic Planet, Happy

Land, Kanyakumari, Vattakotta, Padmanabhapuram Palace,

Wonderla, Kodaikanal, Tekkadi, Munnar, Wayanad and Ooty.

Before coming to conclusion, I wish to reiterate that the school is

blessed with a group of staff who are fully committed to their

profession, dedicated and ready to help. I am helped immensely

by the band of leadership I have in the school – the Vice Principal Ms Sivakami,

the Academic co-ordinator Mr Alex Fernanndes, Staff Secretary, Mr Rajasekhar

A, Sections Heads and Heads of Departments. I am grateful to all of them

individually. The office, as we all know, is the face of the school and I am grateful

to Mr Jose P John, the Administrator and the office team for their solid support at

all times.

To all my dear parents, my sincere gratitude for entrusting your children

under our care. To all of you I guarantee that all possible efforts will be made

to keep Christ Nagar worthy of your trust. And finally to all my dear students

let me say that you are the very best of the best – Remember : You are born to

do good, to succeed in life, to bless others’ lives and you have unlimited

potential.

Let me now conclude the report with my heart raised to thank GOD Almighty

for bestowing His abundant blessings upon us throughout the year.

Thank you one and all once again. May God bless Christ Nagar !
