Message from the General Manager

A warm welcome to the August – Septemberedition of Resort Highlights.

Well what a strange start to Winter it hasbeen with mini cyclones, washed awaybeaches and torrential rains lashing theCoast – weather that seems consistent withour Summer months. Being a Victorian, Icould only wish that we could send some ofthe water south to much needed rural areaswhich leads me to a very touching story.

Recently the Resort was fortunate to host avery special dinner for 41 children and 16parents from Marysville, Victoria who wereaffected by the Black Saturday bushfires.Looking over the dinner table, hearing a fewmiraculous stories unfold and chewing on afew hot dogs with the kids, mums and dads, I could not help to think who’s clothes orshoes are they wearing, where are they livingnow, what pets did they lose, how far dothey have to travel to school now and how arethey just getting by day to day – things a lot ofus just take for granted.

The kids were energetic and inspirationalalbeit they were running on adrenaline from2 days of intense theme-parking. What anhonour for us to put on the biggest spread ofhot dogs, party pies and sausage rolls I haveseen. The kids ranging from 4 to 16 years ofage, carried on just like kids should and towatch them in sheer amazement of themagician’s disappearing act and play withtheir newly created poodle or turtle balloonsmade for a wonderful evening and one that Iwill not forget. Well done to the Gold Coastfor putting on one terrific action packedshowcase for these truly amazing people. And on the note of fun, the building of our

new exciting Pizzeria outlet is due tocommence very shortly and in our nextedition, we will have some great pizza newsalong with an invitation for you budding pizzachefs out there to join our master pizza cheffor some creative evenings where you canshowcase your own gourmet creations. Whoknows we may include your pizza on the menu?

It is regularly commented to us that theRoyal Pines golf course has the best greenson the Coast which consistently run true andat a great pace. The course is in terrificcondition and don’t forget, we have manysocial competitions on every week which arevery relaxed no matter your skill level. Whenyou finish your round, why not come andrelax at Tees’ Clubhouse. Our new menusinclude light refreshments to full mealsdesigned to complement your perfect round.‘Look good and play good’ is the new talkof the Golf Shop and why not come in andview the fabulous new Spring outerwear andknitwear on offer.

On the subject of golf, the Resort will behosting the 21st ANZ Ladies MastersTournament 19-21 February 2010 and as inprevious years, the event will again attractthe world’s top women golf professionals sobe sure to put these dates in your diary.

This edition of Highlights is full of Resortnews, golf specials, restaurant specials, samplers, special events and competitions –happy reading and sampling.
