The Quantile® Framework for Mathematics, developed by educational measurement and research organization MetaMetrics®, comprises more than 500 skills and concepts (called QTaxons) taught from kindergarten through high school. The Quantile Framework depicts the
developmental nature of mathematics and the connections between mathematics content across the strands. By matching a student’s Quantile measure with the Quantile measure of a mathematical skill or concept, you can determine if the student is ready to learn that skill, needs to learn supporting concepts first, or has already learned it. For more information and to use free Quantile utilities, visit www.Quantiles.com.

Modeling Addition and Subtraction
“Match Game”
Teacher note: In this Reteach, students will make sets by matching 4 cards together showing different representations for the same addition or subtraction problem.
Group size: two to three students
Materials: cards, pages 47-55
Before class: Copy the cards, pages 47-55, on cardstock for each group. Laminate each set if possible. Cut out each card.
Directions:
• Distribute a set of game cards to each group. Students will shuffle the cards and spread them face-up on a table/desk.
• When you say Go, each player will pick up a card with a star on it. The written number on these cards are answers. Each student will then match 3 other cards to it that show the same addition or subtraction problem in different forms.
• When a student finds all four cards, he/she will put them together to form a rectangle and place them aside.
• As students make a set, they will take another card with a star on it and find the cards that match it.
• The player in each group with the most sets of cards when all cards have been picked up wins the game.
Student Expectation: Students will match representations for addition and subtraction problems
