“Help” begins when victims are empowered to “tell”…

• A Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) works to provide victims and their families:– A coordinated approach to Law

enforcement and Protective Services investigations

– Skilled forensic interviewing of victims

– Trauma-informed medical and mental health interventions

– Court preparation and support– On-going follow-up throughout

the criminal prosecution and healing processes

What is TF-CBT?

A hybrid treatment model that integrates:

• Trauma sensitive interventions• Cognitive-behavioral principles• Attachment theory• Developmental neurobiology• Family therapy• Empowerment therapy• Humanistic therapy

Treatment Research

• TF-CBT is the most rigorously tested treatment for traumatized children– 12 randomized trials, numerous follow-

ups– Current RCT for DV

• Improved PTSD, depression, anxiety, shame and behavior problems compared to supportive treatments

• PTSD improved more with direct child treatment

• Improved parental distress, parental support, and parental depression compared to supportive treatment
