Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Family STEM Night
This week you will find an invitation in your
child’s bag inviting you to our family STEM
(science, technology, engineering, mathematics)
night. On Monday June 17 from 4:30pm-
6:00pm we will be hosting a Bemboka PS family
night at school. A sausage sizzle and drink will
be provided for a gold coin donation. You will
be presented with a problem and in a group you
will plan and design a specific item to potentially
solve the problem. Your design will be tested
and you will be allowed to make modifications
as required. All materials will be provided.
Please respond by returning the bottom portion
of the invitation to help with catering and we
look forward to seeing you for lots of
fun and excitement.
Panboola Bird Watching
On Wednesday June 12 four students from
Stage 2 will be participating in the Panboola
Bird Watching Creative and Talented program.
Students will learn about the birds of Panboola,
using past bird surveys to show how protecting
areas helps with conserving animal species. They
will spend time bird watching using binoculars
and they will identify bird species using the
Birds of Australia app. They will also learn how
to use Nature Mapr to record their observations.
The Far South Coast Birdwatchers Inc have also
donated the ‘Pizzey and Knight Birds of
Australia’ app to all schools in the Bega Valley.
This app is available to students on one of our
school’s iPads.
Cluster Rehearsal
Students who are attending the Festival of
Instrumental Music at the Sydney Opera House
in Term 3 will be travelling to Candelo Friday
June 14 for their cluster rehearsal. This is an
important part of the students preparation for
the concert and is compulsory. A conductor will
be guiding students through their piece of music.
Parents will be required to transport students to
Candelo for a 10am start and finish at 2pm.
Pre-school Visit
This Friday June 7 Yellow Learning Group will
be visiting the Bemboka Pre-school. This is an
important part in establishing smooth
transitions for pre-school children who will be
attending school the following year. There will
be more pre-school visits before
our kindergarten transition
program in Term 4.

The Living Safely with Pets Program
On Wednesday June 12 students in
K/1/2 will be participating in the
Responsible Pet Ownership program. The Living
Safely with Pets program is delivered to primary
schools throughout NSW and aims to educate
children on what it means to be a responsible pet
owner and how to live safely with dogs.
Athletics Carnival
Last Thursday, students participated in our
athletics carnival at Colombo Park. It was a
fantastic day and everyone appreciated the warm
drinks that were provided to adults and students.
Thank you to Amanda Rush for volunteering to
open up the canteen and provide free hot drinks to
the students. Our Small Schools Athletics Carnival
will be held at Wolumla on Friday June 28. All
students from K-6 will be attending the carnival.
Quality Teaching Rounds
This week Miss Van Beek, Mrs Collins and I are
attending a two day professional learning
opportunity in Batemans Bay. The course
commenced on Wednesday June 5 and finishes
Thursday afternoon. The NSW Department of
Education strongly endorses participation in
Quality Teaching Rounds as an approach to
support educators in refining their teaching. The
course is delivered in partnership with the
University of Newcastle. While we are away Jenny
Szery will be teaching Green Learning Group,
Kerry Howard is on Blue Learning Group and
Jenny Garden will have Yellow Learning Group.
Soccer
Our soccer game against Central
Tilba will be held next Thursday
June 13 at Dalmeny Soccer Oval.
Parents are required to transport
students to the game. The match
will start at 10.30am with a warm up
session planned for 10am. Due to our soccer match
being held on Thursday June 13 we have had to
move our merit assembly to Tuesday 18 June.
Sporting Schools
Students will participate in their last Lawn Bowls
session on Tuesday June 11. The program has been
running every week for the past 4 weeks and
students have thoroughly enjoyed learning about
lawn bowls. We wish to thank Nick Hind who has
been delivering the program to students.
Yours in Education,
Miss Claire Morgan.
