Dear Parents and Caregivers, Welcome to Term 4 I hope all our families enjoyed their spring break. Welcome to our final term of the year, the year seems to be flying by and this term is going to be actioned packed. We have many exciting activities for the students to look forward to this term. There is our school production ‘Gnomes and Gardens’, swimming, Stage 3 students have their Jindabyne camp in November, Year 6 students have their peer support camp at Bournda in late November and Presentation Night. We are also planning another PBL acknowledgement day towards the final weeks of term. Kinder 2019 Orientation On Monday we held our Parent Kinder 2019 Information Night. We welcome our 2019 Kinders for their orientation program today. Mrs Jo Collins will be hosting our Kinder Orientation program this year and I will be taking all the Year 2 students as well as a few extras out of the Yellow Learning Group to reduce the class size. These students will be utilising the library as their learning environment with myself on the days of kinder orientation. Our kinder orientation dates are Thursday 25/10, Wednesday 31/10, Thursday 8/11 and Thursday 15/11. Pancake Day Next Wednesday October 31, Stage 3 students will be hosting a pancake breakfast at school. Morning play will be extended to allow extra time for students to eat their delicious pancakes with the first pancakes being served at 8:30am. This day will also be a kinder orientation day so please ensure that our 2019 kindergarten students come prepared for our pancake breakfast. You will receive 2 pancakes with maple syrup and fresh fruit as well as a drink for $5. Parents and community members are more than welcome to join us for our pancake breakfast.

Student Learning and Support Officer I would like to welcome Mrs Ellen Bevitt and Mr Tom Robertson to our school this term. Mr Robertson will be joining us at the beginning of Week 4 and will be with us on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Mrs Bevitt joins us this week and will be working on Thursdays. They will be providing assistance in the classrooms and working directly with students to support them in their learning journeys. Merit Assemblies This term our merit assemblies will be held in Week 5 and Week 8. Due to the our school production being held late this term, we will be prioritising our school production and therefore our assemblies will just be merit based. We look forward to seeing you at our merit assemblies and to acknowledge those students making progress in their learning and our PBL values. Sun Safe - Hats Hats must been worn at all times when outside. Microfibre hats are available from the school office for $14.00 each. Woolworths Cup Cricket Day 17 Oct
Bega ~ Blue & Green Groups.
Cricket Gala Day
On Wednesday Blue and Green
Group went to SCAC for a
cricket gala day. Green won 3/4
games and Blue lost all their games but that didn't stop us
from having fun. Green lost the first match but won the other
three. They had a canteen set up with free fruit for us to eat
so that was great. Koby Alexander
The students showed wonderful problem solving skills and team work in this weeks STEM challenge. We explored the renewable energy source of hydropower with particular interest in the Snowy Hydro Scheme. After investigating the inner workings of the dam, pipe and turbine systems the students created their own structures. It was such an engaging lesson that the students have asked that we explore hydro power further so stay tuned for some exciting projects! Keep those books coming
back each week too so that the students can continue to access all of the lovely books in our library. Happy reading, Mrs Collins.
