Self-contained breathing apparatuses (SCBAs)

Particulate respirators only protect you against particulates like dust

Only used for low-level hazardsUsually disposable

APRs filter out contaminants using a cartridge

Only effective if used with the right cartridge or filter based on what hazards are present

Cartridges are color-coded based on the contaminants they protect

PAPRs use a fan to draw air through the cartridge to the user
