    Dr. Ren Gutirrez, Superintendent

    Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District

Edinburg CISD has been made aware of the Caller-Times article associating our district with instructional materials which may have been distributed by Corpus Christi ISD. It is further stated that the instructional materials contained spelling errors. We have diligently searched our records and can confirm that Edinburg CISD has never given CCISD consent to distribute or use materials produced by our district. Because we have not transferred our materials we cannot confirm that Edinburg CISD was either the source of the materials, or the source of any errors. We have reviewed our files and do not believe that the identified errors can be sourced to Edinburg CISD. Edinburg CISD provides the latest research-based materials for our teachers in order to guarantee that our students acquire the mandated Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. Like many other districts, we also write TEKS-based curriculum and produce aligned materials and resources on a yearly basis to support our delivery of instruction. All Edinburg CISD instructional materials are reviewed, revised and edited before distribution to ensure that we produce quality resources for our teachers and students. Edinburg CISD has always excelled academically. Every Edinburg CISD school has met State Standards; in fact, a number of our schools are recognized as Title I Rewards Schools, and others have been nominated for National Blue Ribbon School status. We are extremely proud of the work and results our teachers and students have accomplished. While we are generally willing to share our work with our fellow educators, we do feel that the attribution of any errors in the CCISD materials to ECISD (even by implication) is unfair to our District.
