RESPONSE TO QUESTIONNAIRE

– FOCUS GROUP

Page 2: Response to questionnaire and feedback for focus group

My music magazine will focus on a Chart Music Genre. This is the most well

known music and can relate to many different genres. These artists are also

very well known by the world although maybe not liking their music, for

example Lady GaGa, Justin Bieber etc

FEEDBACK: it has a very wide audience. Most popular music of this time.

WHAT KIND OF MUSIC WILL YOUR

MAGAZINE FOCUS ON?

RATED. I chose this after debating with other titles that relate to the theme

of a ‘chart’ as my genre is chart music. I came up with options of ‘ranking’

, ‘levels’ , ‘stages’ etc and I finally came up with the word RATED as chart

music is rated before it goes into the charts.

FEEDBACK: rated means ‘valued’ and to many people music is very valued to

them. ‘Rated’ also leads to the genre of Chart Music by rating the music into a

chart. The word ‘rated’ is catchy and people will remember it.

WHAT WILL YOUR MAGAZINE BE

CALLED?

Page 4: Response to questionnaire and feedback for focus group

Either a mixed gender band or a boy band. I got this information from my

questionnaire as 2 people said a mixed gender band and 2 people said a male

or boy band.

FEEDBACK: A mixed gender band relates to both sexes. Chart music has a

wide female audience so a boy band will relate to girls – especially if they are

good looking.

WILL YOU FEATURE A SINGLE ARTIST

OR A BAND ON YOUR FRONT COVER?

An interview with an up and coming artist (probably the people on the front cover). I got this information from my questionnaire as 7/9 people who

answered my questionnaire said that they would expect to see an interview with an artist in a music magazine so I decided to use this on the double page spread. By having the central image on the front as the person/people being

interviewed this will show what content will be in the magazine and attract the audience.

FEEDBACK: it’s a good idea to have the interviewee on the front cover as this will make the reader want to read the content. The audience will want to know about upcoming artists and news. You have more room on a DPS to

write a lot of the interview. Also by having it across two pages you will want to carry on reading

WHAT KIND OF ARTICLE WILL BE

ON YOUR DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD?

Black white and light blue, with maybe some red content. I got this

information from my questionnaire. As 33% said black, 22% said white and

33% said light blue, 55% said red however I think red is a bit of a bold colour

and I personally don’t think it suits the genre. I gave multiple choice answers

so the percentage is over 100%.

FEEDBACK: black and white are contrasting colours so they would work well

with the contrasting genres within the Chart Music genre. The focus group

said that the colour scheme was very simple so the content of the magazine

will stand out well, which they liked.

WHAT COLOUR SCHEME WILL

YOUR MAGAZINE HAVE?

Page 7: Response to questionnaire and feedback for focus group

Between £1.50 - £2.50. Got this info from questionnaire as 44% said £1.50 -

£2.00 and 33% said £2.50 - £3.00. This will be a weekly magazine so I didn’t

want the price to be too expensive. I also thought £3.00 was a bit too

expensive to pay for a weekly magazine so I chose to price it in-between £1.50

and £2.50.

FEEDBACK: my focus group agreed that the price should be in-between

£1.50 - £2.50 but they thought that it should be towards the lower point of

the scale as any more than £2.00 would be too expensive for a weekly

magazine. After listening to their advise I have decided to price my magazine

at £1.99

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
