What do we lack?

• Is the Restoration Movement complete ?• Are there parts of the New Testament church

that we have not fully restored ?• There are many things that we have yet to

work on.• Tonight I focus on the attitudes of the New

Testament church.

1 Strong Faith

• With a strong faith we can do great things in this world.

Mark 16:14 Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

• With a strong faith we can do great things in this world.

• Are we reaching our world ? They did.• Are we strong in our faith ? They were.• Are we willing to die for our faith ? They did.• Are we living our faith ? They did.

2 Power in Prayer

James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much

• How is your prayer life ?• Do you pray believing ?• Are we praying boldly ?• Is our prayer life – effective and fervent ?

3 Zeal for the work

Mark 16:15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.Matthew 9:37-38 37 Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest."

Acts 20:20 how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house,

• Are you taking the gospel to your world ?• Are you excited about the work ?• Why are there more here for a party than for

door-knocking ?• Why is there more excitement for a football

game that for mission report ?

4 Spirit of Christ

• Romans 8:9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

• 2 Corinthians 3:6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

5 Enthusiasm for life

• Galatians 5:22-23 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

• Do you have the fruit of the Spirit in your life ?

• LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS, SELF-CONTROL

6 Excitement for worship

• Psalm 122:1 I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go into the house of the Lord."

• Are you glad, excited to be here today ?• Do you sing with spirit ? (1 Corinthians 14:15)• Do you give with cheer? (2 Corinthians 9:7)• Do you just endure the sermon ?• Are you wishing you were somewhere else ?

7 Commitment to the cause

• Matthew 10:37 He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

• Matthew 19:27 Then Peter answered and said to Him, "See, we have left all and followed You. Therefore what shall we have?"

• How is your dedication to the cause of Christ ?• What have you given up for Christ ?• Matthew 16:24-25 24 Then Jesus said to His

disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

Must work to be done

• The restoration is not complete• Strong Faith• Power of Prayer• Zeal for the work• Spirit of Christ• Enthusiasm for life• Excitement for worship• Commitment to the cause
