Ⅱ. Evaluation
□ Overview ○ 2018 SSWWC was held in earnest for two days, co-hosting
conference organizing committee(Chair-Prof. Fulufhelo Nestwera) consist of North West University, Cape Peninsula University of Technology, University of Limpopo with WTA.
○ 200 participants from 22 countries attended at the conference with 3 keynote speakers and 30 speakers on water and sanitation (Water 10, Sanitation 9, Toilet 5, Environment 6) Best practice of dry toilets in Finland, and case study of Influence of public toilets on healthy urban life in Bangladesh got attention from participants. Also participants were very much interested in exhibition of eco-toilet from 3P Technik, Germany as well.
○ In order to encourage the graduate and undergraduate presenters, the awards were given to the winners. The
- 4 -
winners were also awarded the special prize for invitation to World Toilet Leaders Forum which is held in Suwon.
○ 9 out of 22 countries & 9 out of 14 Board Member attended at the 2018 Extraordinary General Assembly and the 10th Board of Directors Meeting, and deliberated 7 agendas(GA 2, BOD 5) in depth for 3 hours.
○ At the extraordinary general meeting, reinforced the contents of regulation - the method of convening the General Assembly, posting the use of donation items and their results on the website. Also, the location and timing of the 5th General Assembly and the 11th BOD Meeting were confirmed.
○ At the BOD Meeting, the 4th GA Result Report, 2017 Business Report and Settlement of Accounts, 2019 Business Plan and Budget were submitted and passed, but meeting was long due to many thoughts were brought up to the table at other agendas deliberation.
○ One day prior to, and after to the official event days, we visited Cape Town’s world-famous sightseeing spots as an official tour. We visited well-maintained sewage treatment plant in Cape Town as well, but the slum area public toilet could only be seen through the window from the bus(for the safety reason). Many of WTA members already visited to SUWON’s facilities, so it could be compared to each other.
□ Good Point ○ Three universities in Cape Town, South Africa have jointly
organized a conference organizing committee to promote the participation of 13 African countries in the toilet culture movement.
○ The organizational movement to South Africa was very encouraging in the operation of the association.
○ Young African participants showed their enthusiasm.
- 5 -
□ What should be improved ○ Couldn’t get any attention from Government of South
Africa and local governments. ○ Lack ability of organizing committee caused short budget
due to less sponsors, so plans had been changed a lot of times, until very last minutes.

■ Case No. 5 : 2019 Business Plan and Budget was passed in its original form and carry out a plan accordingly, but Secretariat should reflect below matters for the 2020 plan.
<Comments>
- (Auditor John Loh) Budget for BOD Meeting and General
Assembly cannot be the same, Headquarters should put more
resources on GA, but if cannot, host country should raise their own
budget and it should be reflected on WTA total budget.
