OPTION AGREEMENT;

All fifteen (15) claims were included in a working option

agreement with Falconbridge Nickel Mines Limited. This agreement was

recently terminated.

ACCESS;

(a) Summer - Access in summer is by means of the "Texmont"

road south of Timmins, then east along a road to Matachewan. Access

may also be effected by float plane to Moray Lake which lies just to

the south of the property.

(b) Winter - Neither the Texmont nor Matachewan roads are

consistently kept open during the. winter at which time access must be

made by ski equipped plane to Moray Lake, or alternatively by snow

machine.

DRAINAGE AND TOPOGRAPHY;

West Nighthawk Lake lies within the north western sector of

the property. Two other small lakes lie partially within the property

boundaries. There are muskeg areas adjacent tp the lakes and adjacent

to Moray Creek near the south eastern corner of the property. There

are two low hills on the property; one on the baseline at line ?8E and

the other on the tie line 16+5ON at Line 4?E.

VEGETATION:

A large portion of the property was timbered some time ago.

,Spruce and balsam are present in uncut areas. The remainder, in slash

area, is small poplar, alder and birch.

PREVIOUS WORK:

Canadian Nickel and Dominion Gulf apparently worked in the

area in the past. Details of their programs are not available to the

writer. One Inco diamond drill hole was located on the property near

the line between claims 353177 and 353174. During the summer and fall

of 1974 A Falconbridge Nickel Mines Limited carried out detailed mag

netometer and vertical loop E.M. surveys over the property. Recently

Granges carried out an airborne E.M. survey which indicated the presence

of several conductors on the property.

GEOLOGICAL MAPPING SURVEY;

(a) Control Grid and Survey: A

mapping and the aforementioned magnetometer and

surveys an east-west base line was cut just to the south of West

Nighthawk Lake. North-south cross lines were cut at 200' intervals

perpendicular to the base line. The cross lines were chained and

picketed at 100 foot intervals.

(b) The entire property was geologically mapped in detail at

a scale of l" to 200'. Mapping was carried out by pace and compass

using the picket lines as control. Every available outcrop was stripped

and the maximum amount of rock exposed.

REGIONAL GEOLOGY:

Ontario Government Map # ?290 indicates the geology of

English and Zavitz Townships.

In general, Zavitz Township is underlain by felsic to mafic

volcanics forming a series of complex folds. Small ultramafic bodies

are conformable to the volcanics. Small granite and syenite intrusives

cut the volcanic rocks. Diabase dykes of several ages intrude all of

the foregoing rocks.

There are no mineral producers in the immediate area, but

there are a number of showings of pyrite and pyrrhotite with occasional

gold, silver, chalcopyrite and zinc blende occurrances. Asbestos is

known to occur within serpentinites in the general area.

GENERAL GEOLOGY OF PROPERTY;

In general, the property is underlain by east west trending

north-facing mafic to intermediate flows. Dips are difficult to determine

but appear to be steep to the north or are near vertical. Near the

eastern boundary the strike'gradually changes to A2 110. A band of

Conglomerate-Sandstone within the volcanic sequence trends east-west

through claims 351180, 353177 and 353174. The aforementioned rocks

are intruded on the west by a mass of syenite. The intrusion of the

syenite resulted in amphibolitization of adjacent rocks for some

distance out from the intrusive contacts. North-south to N 20 W

trending Matachewan diabase dykes cut the volcanic and intrusive rocks.

ROCK FORMATIONS ON THE PROPERTY; Oldest to Youngest (See Geology Map in Pocket)

(a) Pillowed Flow - The south eastern portion of the property

is underlain by a relatively unaltered basic pillowed flow. Pillows are

generally less than three feet in diameter with two to three inch

selvages. Small areas of massive flow and flow breccias are included.

Tops are apparently to the north.

Page 6: RESUME RPT ON GEOL MAPPING SUR ALLERSTON-MCINTOSH … · RESUME REPORT ON GEOLOGICAL MAPPING SURVEY ALLERSTON-McINTOSH OPTION ... lamprophyres are biotite rich and are often carbonated

L'.'-(4s

- 6 -

(b) Black Carbonaceous Interflow Sediments- This thin

sedimentary horizon overlying the aforementioned pillowed flow was

located on outcrop in several places and traced in some detail by

the E.M. survey. The unit is strongly foliated in a north-south

direction. This euxenic type sediment has a variable but usually

minor cherty component. The unit is slightly magnetic and is rusty

in some areas due to contained carbonate and/or pyrite or pyrrhotite.

The unit apparently pinches out to the west near the western boundary

of claim 353178.

(c) The foregoing sediment band is overlain to the north west

by a "Black Patchy" texturcd pillowed unit of basaltic composition. The

"black patchy" or "warty" texture is emphasized by surface weathering.

This unit has been intruded on the west by syenite. Near the syenite

contact the unit has been amphibolitized but sections of the unit appear

to have been originally massive (unpillowed) in nature.

From line 38E to line AGE on the base line this unit is

extremely rusty to the point of obliterating any previous texture.

Gong lorn gr a te fi and s t one -

This unusual rock unit lies on an unconformity transecting the

"Black Patchy" unit and older rocks. It varies from 300 to'500 feet

in width and trends east-west through claims 353180, 353177 and 353174.

The pebbles range in size from about 6" to very tiny quartz and feldspar

grains. The sandstone component varies considerably in quantity.

Pebbles are comprised of quartz porphyry; quart?, and chert; mafic

volcanics; peridotite and coarse aciculr.r gabbro. Within the unit

there are several small discontinuous sections of felsic volcanic tuffs

or tuff breccias.

The unit is often quite rusty due to a variable pyrrhotite

component.

Page 7: RESUME RPT ON GEOL MAPPING SUR ALLERSTON-MCINTOSH … · RESUME REPORT ON GEOLOGICAL MAPPING SURVEY ALLERSTON-McINTOSH OPTION ... lamprophyres are biotite rich and are often carbonated

Many lamprophyre dykes intrude the unit.

The conglomerate sandstone band is a horizon marker for the

unconformity and for younger rocks in the immediate areas.

Spherulitic Pillowed Andesite (or Basalt) Pillowed Horizon:

This pillowed unit overlies the Conglomerate-Sandstone to the

north. Well developed spherulites occur within the pillows. The

pillows range in size from less than one foot to twelve feet in diameter.

Tops determinations are consistently to the north or N.N.E. Strikes are

90 to 100 Az in the central sector of the property but swing to AZ 160

near the eastern boundary.

Amphibolitic:

Sections of the Spherulitic unit have been variably amphibolitized,

This amphibolitized rock is black in colour, medium to coarse grained and

is slightly magnetic. Amphibole needles up to ^" in length are common.

The gradation from Spherulitic Pillowed Flow to amphibolite is extremely

irregular. The distribution of the amphibolite suggests that syenite

probably lies not far from surface in the north central portion of the

property near Chef Pond. (See Map).

Syenite;(

A syenite intrusion underlies most of the western third of the

property. The eastern contact of the syenite trends roughly N15 W through

claims 353181; 353180 and 353179. The syenite is commonly porphyritic

with pink orthoclase phenocrysts up to l cm in diameter. Black horn

blende is occasionally a minor constituent in the rock.

Minor quartz veining is present in places within the syenite.

To the south the veins occasionally carry minor gold values.

The syenite intrusion caused amphibolitization of adjacent

rocks on the property.

Page 8: RESUME RPT ON GEOL MAPPING SUR ALLERSTON-MCINTOSH … · RESUME REPORT ON GEOLOGICAL MAPPING SURVEY ALLERSTON-McINTOSH OPTION ... lamprophyres are biotite rich and are often carbonated

- 8 -

Lamprophyre:

Narrow lamprophyre dykes are very common throughout the

central portion of the property to the east of the syenite. The

lamprophyres are biotite rich and are often carbonated. Foreign

inclusions of volcanic rocks were noted in certain lamprophyres. The

lamprophyres appear to slightly post, date the syenite in age.

Diabase;

Two northerly trending Matachewan diabase dykes cut volcanic

rocks on the NE portion of the property. These are black in colour,

medium grained and are magnetic.

Structure:

The general east-west trend of the volcanic and sedimentary

rocks underlying the property has been variably disrupted by the syenite

intrusion. Due to amphibolization brought about by the syenite it is

difficult to trace marker horizons near the intrusion.

There is no evidence indicating the presence of major fold axes on the property but minor cross folding effects'were noted.

Some minor faulting in a N60.E direction was noted.

Alteration:

Rocks in the area are generally altered to epidote-carbonate

and/or lower greenschist facies. Rocks in the vicinity of the syenite

intrusion have been altered to the amphibolite facies. Quartz carbonate

- 9 -

veining stockworks are quite common.

Mi n er ali z at ion.:

There is considerable sulphide mineralization on the

property. Much of the conglomerate sandstone unit is variably mineral

ized with disseminated pyrrhotite and. with occasional traces of chalcopyrite.

Rocks stratigraphically below the conglomerate-Sandstone are well mineral

ized in places with pyhrrotite and traces of chalcopyrite especially in

the vicinity of the Black Carbonaceous Interflow Sediment on claims

353177 and 353178 where gossans are well developed. The strongest con

centration of sulphides occurs at line 38E on the base line.

No commercial assays were obtained from the property.
