Capítulo I

Capítulo II
Hubo una fuerte lluvia pero no paso nada, solo apareció la mancha nuevamente en el mismo
sitio, habiendo cerrado la biblioteca y eso inquieto a toda la familia. Salieron a dar una vuelta en
coche la cual trajo temas de conversación entre los miembros de la familia, al llegar a la casa se
dispusieron a descansar, a la 1 de la mañana escucho un ruido extraño junto a unos pasos, vio a
un viejo con ropas anticuadas con cadenas en manos y pies al cual le pidió que engrase las
cadenas dándole un frasco de aceite ofreciéndole y regreso a la cama. El fantasma se molesto y
lanzó el frasco y se retiro hasta las escaleras de roble y sintió un golpe de almohada de parte de
los gemelos por lo cual desapareció, y recordando todas las apariciones que había hecho.
Capítulo III
En la mañana se discutió sobre el fantasma en el desayuno, sobre quitarle las cadenas para que
les deje descansar, en el resto de la semana no les molesto, solo sorprendió la mancha en el piso
la cual cambiaba de color diariamente. El domingo apareció el fantasma sentado y frotándose las
rodillas ya que intento ponerse una armadura y los gemelos con sus ondas le atacaron, molesto
desapareció hasta el principio de las escaleras con carcajadas horribles, la señora Otis le ofreció
una medicina para el estómago por lo cual se convirtió en un perro negro y desapareció. El
fantasma apareció y esta vez encontró otro fantasma en frente, el cual tenía un cartel que decía
“fantasma Otis único y original no acepte imitaciones” el fantasma blasfemó y maldijo con el 2º
canto del gallo, pero el gallo solo canto una vez, decepcionado se retiro.
Capítulo IV
Al día siguiente el fantasma estaba cansado y enfermo por lo cual no salió en un semana, se
sentía mal al ver a una familia que no se afectaba por los fenómenos sobrenaturales y mas por las
bromas de los gemelos que le hacían mil travesuras. Hasta que un día decidió asustar a los
gemelos pero le cayó un balde con agua por lo cual paso en cama enfermo y prometió a no
asustar a la familia

Días después Virginia dio un paseo en el cual se le rompió el vestido, regreso a la casa y vio al
fantasma de Canterville en la ventana de la casa, la cual se compadeció del fantasma. El
fantasma indico que los hermanos de su esposa lo dejaron morir de hambre al enterarse de que él
había matado a su esposa. El fantasma exclamó que ya hace 300 años que no duerme, ha leído
la profecía de las vidrieras de la biblioteca “cuando una joven rubia logre hacer brotar una frase de
los labios del pecador, cuando el almendro estéril de frutos y una niña deje correr su llanto
entonces toda la casa recobrara la tranquilidad y volverá la paz a Canterville”, pero no sé lo que
significan, debe usted llorar por mis pecados junto a mí. La joven dijo no tener miedo y rogara al
ángel que se apiade del fantasma, alegre el fantasma beso a la joven.
Capítulo VI
Al otro día la joven no bajo al desayuno por lo que toda la familia salió a buscar, los gemelos

una cruz de flores de almendro y recordando el jardín de la muerte. Las joyas que tenia la joven
Virginia se las iba a entregar a los herederos de la familia Canterville, pero lord Canterville dejo las
joyas a la joven ya que no era herencia sino un regalo para Virginia. En 1890 Virginia se caso con
su novio el duquecito, después de la luna de miel regresaron a Canterville dejando unas flores por
la tumba del fantasma, indicando que él le había hecho ver lo que es la vida, lo que significa la
muerte y por que el amor es más fuerte que la muerte.
