TEE PRODUCTS GUIDE FOR RETROFIT AND NEW INSTALLATIONS2 Introduction

INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this Guide is to ensure that the ordering process is simple, clear and fast. It provides the customer and the supplier (TEE) with a common basis for understanding any Product Order. The products described in this Guide are divided into the following main groups:

Draw-Out UnitsThis type of product is intended for complete replacement of the obsolete draw-out units with the new ones.

Typical Adaptation Kits TKA/TELTKA/TEL are intended for Retrofit & Rehabilitation of obsolete stationary and withdrawable switchgear. The Kits include the parts for VCB mounting, for arranging the connection to the primary circuits and parts for interlock organization. Tavrida Electric has designed the typical adaptation kits for over 100 types of switchgear.

Typical Adaptation Kits TKA/TEESimplified typical adaptation kits consist of the basic essential units and plastic parts. These sets ensure proper installation of the ISM and interlock arrangement both for Retrofit purposes and for the manufacture of brand new switchgear using TEL Indoor Switching and Control Modules.

TEE Control PanelsThis group of products is intended for organizing auxiliary circuits and implementation of the Control Modules into the existing auxiliary circuits. They can also be used as a complete alternative to old relay protection.

Control CablesThe sets of the control cables simplify the interconnections between ISM/TEL, CM/TEL and the Relay Compartment for both stationary and withdrawable switchgear. The use of these cable sets ensures EMC and trouble-free installation of the auxiliary connections.

International retrofit projects TKA/TEEThese retrofit projects have been developed in cooperation with our regional partners.Complete sets of drawings and instruction manuals are available for all switchgear types from the list. The typical adaptation kits are intended to be produced locally.

Longitudinal VCB Module TE-1This Module is designed for the replacement of ABB vacuum circuit breakers of type VD4 in the longitudinal switchgear or the application of brand-new stationary or withdrawable switchgear.

TM-2C CassetteTM-2C Cassette is designed for the replacement of ABB vacuum circuit breaker draw-out units of type VD4 (or its clones) or the application of brand-new cassette type switchgear.

Components for metal-clad switchgearThe basic components for swithgear manufacturing are listed.

Emergency Power Supply SetsBasic units for auxiliary power back-up and the Emergency Generator for closing ISM are presented.

CM/TEL-X/X-12-02A When a Control Module is used in the switchgear p a n e l w i t h a u x i l i a r y D C p o w e r w i t h electromechanical relays and mP relays that do not provide the required signalling interface, the CM/TEL-X-X/X-12-02A can be used.

CM/TEL-X/X-12-01AWhen a Control Module is used in the switchgear panel with auxiliary DC power in combination with a modern mP relay, providing a signalling interface of its own, the CM/TEL-X-X/X-12-01A can be used.

CM/TEL-X/X-12-03A When a Control Module is used in the switchgear panel with auxiliary AC power and with electromechanical relays, the CM/TEL-X-X/X-12-03A can be used.

I/O interface for CM/TEL-X/X-12-03A modules

Values of the Resistors are to be chosen according to the table in the attachment 1.

The selection of all modules must be based on:- The required basic operating parameters. The parameters in the Technical Specification of the CM/TEL must not be exceeded under any circumstances.- The Control Voltages and the I/O Interface requirements.The following general selection rules with regard to the choice of interfaces are applicable.

Emergency Power Supply inputs allow the CM/TEL to be fed from a low-voltage source, such as a car-battery or an Emergency Generator. This feature ensures the closing ability of the ISM in the case of auxiliary power supply loss.

Adjustment of the control inputs

This procedure is applicable for CM/TEL-X/X-12-02A,CM/TEL-X/X-12-03A.“Close & Supervision”, “Trip & Supervision”,“Alternative Trip & Supervision” inputs shall beadjusted to the required control voltage and cur-rent. This adjustment is achieved by the connec-tion of a proper external resistor to the relevantinputs (also see section “Control ModulesOperation”) and by selection of the control cur-rent with the aid of relevant selection switches(also see Section “Control Modules Design”).

For rated voltages not exceeding 60 V the criticalparameter of the external resistor (in addition to itsvalue R) is its rated power P.For rated voltages exceeding 60 V the critical param-eter is impulse power Pi , that can be absorbed bythe resistor during a 100 ms current pulse.These values are determined by rated voltage andcurrent of the input and shall be chosen in accor-dance with the following table. (See also Notesbelow the table.)

Note 1: The power ratings shown above ensure reliable operation of the external resistor in a static condition. Some resistors have extra sensitivity to temporary overloads caused by frequent switching operations or application of high energy lightning impulses. In these cases, the required rated power may exceed that shown in the table above.In case of doubt please contact the manufacture.Note 2: When choosing the value of R insure that it is less than the combined value of the resistors R, R1 and R3 connected in series with the supervision relays by at least 3.5 times ( also see Section “Destination and operation of inputs”). If this is not achieved then failure of a supervision relay coil to a short circuit condition could result in an uninstructed circuit breaker operation.Note 3: External resistors used shall be wire type and shall have a tolerance of ± 5% or better.
