FeaturesGlobe Valve 2-Way & 3-Way Assembly Features:

DG Series Automated Globe ValvesApplications for Building Automation, Temperature Controls, HVAC

Two-Way and Three-Way Assemblies • Chilled Water • Hot Water • Steam

DG Series globe valves provide stable and accurate control of both water and steam heat exchangers on fan coil units, VAV reheat coils, and air handling units up to 900 GPM. These globe valves feature rangability of greater than 100:1 to provide precise control. Two way standard trim valves provide an equal percentage flow characteristic for use on hot water and chilled water.

Two way stainless trim valves - recommended for steam applications, and 3-way mixing valves provide a linear flow characteristic for a N.O. port and equal percentage from a N.C. port .

All DG series globe valves feature a cartridge style packing, which is easily replaceable while the valve is in line. Constant plug guiding and precision-machined metal to metal seating assures ANSI Class IV shutoff (.01%) which provides low leakage and energy conservation.

LINE SIZE SIZE FOR PRECISE CONTROL

Determine whether the valve should be line size or sized to match the designed pressure drop(typical for modulating applications where precise control is required.)

Determine the actual pressure drop using the below equation.

Go to page GL-11 and GL-12, Globe Valve Close-Off Charts. Using the line size, find a valve of the same size with a Cv that best matches the one calculated in Step 1.

Go to page GL-10 (2-way or 3-way), Globe Valve Piping Geometry Charts. Find the line size at the top of the chart. Scan down the page to the Cv that best matches the one calculated in Step 1.

VALVE SIZING STEPS - Steam

STEP ONE

STEP ONE

STEP TWO

When sizing a globe valve for a steam application, there are two methods of calculating the required Cv. The first method is to use the Steam Tables on pages GL-15 and GL-16.The tables are based on the steam pressure and pounds per hour. These tables use the standard rule of an 80% pressure drop for modulating applications and a 10% pressure drop for on/off control. If the exact inlet pressure of the system is not referenced on the charts or a different pressure drop is desired, the following equations can also be used to calculate the required valve Cv.

Determine the proper pressure drop.For low pressure steam (15 PSIG or less) use a pressure drop that is 80% of the gauge inlet pressure.

Calculate the absolute outlet pressure (Po).

For higher pressure steam (greater than 15 PSIG) use a pressure drop that is 42% of the absolute inlet pressure.

= 0.8 x Pi (inlet pressure in PSIG)

Note: The below equations are designed for sizing globe valves please consult Bray if you desire to use a ball or butterfly valve.

Modulating Control:

On/Off Control:

For higher pressure steam (greater than 15 PSIG) use a pressure drop that is 10% of the absolute inlet pressure.

= 0.1 x Pi (inlet pressure in PSIG)

= 0.42 x Pi (inlet pressure in PSIA) Pi = Absolute Inlet Pressure = Gauge Pressure + 14.7

= 0.1 x Pi (inlet pressure in PSIA) Pi = Absolute Inlet Pressure = Gauge Pressure + 14.7

Po = Pi - Pi = Absolute Inlet Pressure = Gauge Pressure + 14.7

Po = Pi - Pi = Absolute Inlet Pressure = Gauge Pressure + 14.7

STEP TWO

Determine the proper pressure drop.For low pressure steam (15 PSIG or less) use a pressure drop that is 10% of the gauge inlet pressure.

Calculate the absolute outlet pressure (Po).

STEP THREE Calculate the valve coefficient (Cv) of flow.

Where:Cv = Valve coefficient of flowQ = Pounds per hour of steam = #/hr = Pressure drop across open valvePo = Outlet pressure in PSIA

STEP FOUR Refer to the below chart to select the proper trim for the application.

STEP THREE Calculate the valve coefficient (Cv) of flow.

Cv =Q

Where:Cv = Valve coefficient of flowQ = Pounds per hour of steam = #/hr = Pressure drop across open valvePo = Outlet pressure in PSIA

Globe Valve - VAL-SRS07P & VAL-SRS15PFeatures and Benefits

The VAL-SRS07 and VAL-SRS15P Spring Return Electro Hydraulic Actuators provide precise modulating control of Bray cast iron globe valves.

These actuators use electro hydraulic force to achieve superior close-off pressure ratings. The stroke of these actuators is up at the low input signal condition, and down in the high signal input condition.

A weather shield is available to offer a degree of protection against rain, sleet and damage from external ice formation.

Features and Benefits:• Provides high close-off pressure ratings

• Eases installation and minimizes space requirements

• Returns valve to the open or closed position upon loss of power

• Accepts current or voltage inputs

• Allows manual positioning during set-up or balancing

• Provides position feedback and provides for remote monitoring
