PFLAG TAMPA PRESENTSREV. ELISE ELROD

PFLAG Tampa is pleased to sponsor a presentation by Reverend Elise Elrod whose unusual journey took her from a highly successful engineering career with a wife (Joni) and family, to a fulfilling life as a UCC minister, all the while coming to terms with her own identity as she transitioned from male to female, and from Southern Baptist roots which had challenged Elise for 40 years as she struggled with her identity.

In her own words, “Like many who must hide who they are, I was deeply invested in that which would not support who I am. My whole life is my argument, not just an unusual medical journey since 1999. I first preached in my early twenties. As a couple, Joni and I have experienced changes in faith, migrating ideology, business, wealth, poverty, popularity and the loneliness of being ostracized.”

Married for over 40 years, Elise and her spouse Joni have three grown children, two daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren.

Come join PFLAG Tampa on November 20 as Elise shares her extraordinary life experience with us.

We can make our community a safer and more welcoming place for all.
