UNCLE AL’S THRIFT SHOP
We continue to be amazed at the wonderful donations that are brought to the shop. Not just clothing in excellent
condition (sometimes new), but very nice items for the home. There is now a great selection of pillows, lovely
china and crystal, numerous paintings and pictures. Like-new toys for toddlers came in last week — a few were
purchased just a few hours after they were priced. You just never know what treasures might await you at Uncle
Al’s.
Being a volunteer at the shop is a really nice experience. There is something very satisfying when you feel you are
doing your bit to help the Parish. It’s a good feeling when you see a mom smile broadly after spotting the toy her
son wanted (now at an affordable price) or finding a winter jacket for her daughter who is growing like a weed.
Volunteering provides the opportunity to meet new people — other workers and customers. The success of Uncle
Al’s is very dependent on volunteers. Right now, we have an urgent need for at least one person (preferably two)
for the Friday 10:00am to 1:00pm shift. Please consider this gift of time. Call Irene Wing at 677-3310 or email
All proceeds benefit St. Joseph-Immaculate Conception Church.
Travel this Summer with Bishop Gerardo Colacicco
Travel with Bishop Colacicco to the great Marian Shrines of LOURDES
and FATIMA, the Spanish cities of Segovia and Avila and the

Stillman Memorial Mass On Friday, January 24 at 5:00pm, Immaculate Conception Parish in Amenia will host the annual Memorial Mass
for Chauncey Devereux Stillman, founder of the Wethersfield Foundation and the Wethersfield Institute for
Catholic Thought. Light refreshments will be available following the Mass.
Christmas Decorations in St. Joseph Cemetery
We will begin to remove Christmas decorations from the cemetery this coming week beginning on
January 15. If there are items you wish to keep, please get them before Wednesday. Thank you.
Millbrook at Home For our Coffee and Connections event this month, we will be having Bill Jeffway, who is part of the Historical
Society, coming in to speak about Women’s Suffrage and Lucretia Coffin Mott. This presentation will delve into
the history of Women’s Suffrage in the Mid Hudson Valley and its connection to this specific area. Come join us
on Wednesday, Jan. 15 from 1-3pm to learn more about our history and what we can draw from it.
We are excited to have Bill come down to give us his insights on this topic. Email [email protected]
with any questions.
