LIFETEEN IS ALSO THE HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP OF ST. JOSEPH PARISH, DANVILLE!

Parents of St. Joseph Parish highschoolers: Please encourage your teen to attend Lifeteen. We leave the St. Joseph School Parking Lot every Sunday evening at 6:30 PM. and return at 9:30 PM.

June 18th There is NO Life Teen this Sunday, June 18 because we are celebrating fathers on Fathers’ Day.

June 25th During tonight’s Life Night entitled, “Vacation Bible School”, we will talk about the Epistles – these are letters written by saints to the early Church. These letters were written to help the individuals and communities of the Church live the Gospel fully. They are also an encouragement to believers today to share our faith in Christ with others and make sure our actions support what we say we believe. Faith and action cannot be separated.

DONATIONS APPRECIATED!!! Thank you to anyone who has graciously donated snacks and monetary gifts to Life Teen. If you would like to help with snack donations, we could use snacks of any kind. Bought or baked…it’s all good. We can also make great use of gift cards: Giant, Weis, Walmart…. We provide pizza and snacks for the teens every week, so if you can help in any way it would be GREATLY appreciated. There is a box located in the Iron Street (Bloomsburg) foyer next to the parking lot for you to drop your purchased donations in but, if you are donating a check card or a monetary gift, it is best to drop or mail it to the Church office. You can contact Karen Konkolics at 570-441-3459 to make other arrangements. Thank you so very much!!!

Life Teen meets every Sunday night from 7 to 9 pm (unless otherwise noted) in the Life Teen room, located upstairs in the parish center at St. Columba Church, Bloomsburg. Enter through the Parish Library by the school playground in the back of the Church. Food, fun, fellowship, and faith. Come and be a part of this dynamic ministry. Life Night’s are open to high schoolers.

Life Teen Mission Statement Guided by the Holy Spirit, the mission of St. Columba Youth Ministry is to empower young people to develop a personal relationship with Jesus so they can live as Disciples of Christ. Through living a sacramental life, continuing Catholic formation, prayer, sharing of gifts and talents, through service and social activities, young people come to understand who Jesus is and live for Him.

THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST

This Week In Our Parish

Attire for Church should always reflect our Christian dignity and be part of giving God our very best. While it can get hot outside, the A/C inside is working fairly well, so I’d like to make a kind request: please be sure to be covered from the bottom of the neck to the top of the knees, and from elbow to elbow. I’ll be counting on all of you to set a good example. Many thanks!

THANK YOU FROM SISTERS OF CHRISTIAN CHARITY Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph Parish, Thank you over and over again for your wonderful response for our “Run for a Nun” Fundraiser. I must confess that I was a little nervous at first, but your undivided attention during my talk put me much at ease. When I finally realized how generous you were, I was overwhelmed with your generosity. Fr. Lease and Fr. Ignatius are certainly blessed to have all of you as part of their St. Joseph Family. All of you and all of your intentions are remembered in prayer by every Sister of Christian Charity. ~Your ever grateful, Sisters of Christian Charity ATTENTION PARISH WOMEN Father’s Day is this Sunday. Why not consider a memorable gift to that man in your life? A weekend to “unwind” and refresh his life as a Catholic, while attending the 39th Annual Corpus Christi Men’s Retreat, August 4-7 on the beautiful campus of Mt. St. Mary’s University, Emmitsburg, MD. You can obtain more information in the St. Hubert Lobby or contact Andrew Matragrano at 570-275-0972 or 570-441-7344. Your gift could be the deposit ($60.00) or the entire cost ($150.00) He’ll enjoy 2 nights lodging, six meals, and hear a great inspiring speaker, Monsignor Charles Pope, pastor of Holy Comforter-St. Cyprian Church, Washington, D.C.

CATECHISTS NEEDED! Our Religious Education program is in need of catechists for the 2017/2018 school year. Please prayerfully consider volunteering. Call Deacon Tom at 570-275-2512 for more information or to volunteer.

PARISH FESTIVAL The 2017 Parish Festival will be on Saturday, September 16th. Lots of great things are being planned and more information coming soon. We are hoping to have a talent show again this year! Please contact the parish office if you are interested in performing. Performers can be individuals or groups. Are you crafty, or have a small business? We are looking for vendors for this year’s festival-please call Christine Fishburn at 570-284-4017 if interested. We are also in need of raffle baskets, lottery tickets (for our lottery tree) and gift cards to purchase items from Walmart. Thank you to all who have donated! We will be accepting items through the summer at the parish office if you would like to support the festival. Please join us for our next meeting on Thursday, June 29th at 7:00 P.M. in the St. Hubert Meeting Room.

VOLUNTEERS FOR GEISINGER EUCHARISTIC MINISTRY NEEDED. There is an urgent need for volunteers to bring the Eucharist to Geisinger patients and to help Fr. John Cyriac with the paperwork. Time involved is small (less than an hour or two each week, or every other week) and the reward is great. Please contact Bob Kurland ([email protected] or 570-275-5454) if you’re interested.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS VOCATION CROSS will be

with the Bernie & Jeanne Mayan for the month of June. If you or your family would like to volunteer to pray with the cross please contact Dave Brady at 570-275-5697.

CONGRATULATIONS to Marc & Angela (Jeffreys) Wislosky who recently received the Sacrament of Matrimony here at St. Joseph. Congratulations! CONGRATULATIONS to the family of Trinity Fishburn who recently received the Sacrament of Baptism. Congratulations! ARE YOU REGISTERED AT ST JOSEPH PARISH? Many families move in and out of Danville all the time due to their line of work. Even if you will be here only a few years, we ask that you register in the Parish. Frequently, families will call for a Sacramental Sponsor Certificate or to have their child baptized and find out they are not on the Parish Census. We are not able to certify that you are a Catholic in good standing if we do not know who you are; and we need permission from your Pastor to baptize your child if you are not a member here.

The Altar Flowers are given this week for our Father’s Day Intentions.
