19th Sunday in Ordinary Time WISDOM 18:6-9 The deliverance of the righteous and the destruction of their enemies were expected by thy people. PSALMS 33:1, 12, 18-22 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage! HEBREWS 11:1-2, 8-12 Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore. LUKE 12:32-48 You also must be ready; for the Son of man is coming at an unexpected hour.
Joanne Gibson, Editor Diana Zuna-Nieves, Associate Editor Bulletin announcements and columns are due on Mondays before 2 PM except before holidays.

Altar Servers wanted
A J o b s o b i g o n l y a k i d c a n d o i t !
Msgr. Flynn would like to invite your children to become altar servers here at St. Mark’s. Altar servers are an invaluable support to the priest during the Mass as well as contributing to the enrichment of the server by allowing them to get fully involved and understand the Mass better. The Ministry requires a sincere commitment on your part as well, but it is a beautiful way for your children to participate in the life of the church and learn some fantastic life skills. Msgr. Flynn hopes you will consider this invitation and speak with your children about becoming more involved in our Church community.
R e q u i r e m e n t s :
Must have received First Holy Communion. Have a strong desire to serve the Lord. Serve two Masses per month. Attend practices and meetings that are scheduled.
We will offer two training sessions in the summer. Please call for dates. For more information, please call Mrs. Diana Zuna Nieves at 732-449-6364 ext. 105 or email her at [email protected].
“In the Footsteps of Jesus” Reservations Due This Week! Msgr. Sean Flynn will
be leading a Christmas season pilgrimage to the Holy Land from December 28th through January 6th. Celebrate Mass and live Scripture in Galilee, Bethlehem, and old Jerusalem. Renew your Baptismal vows where Jesus was baptized, renew your wedding vows in Cana, walk the Stations of the Cross on the Via Dolorosa, and much more.
Easy nonstop travel from Newark, tour accompanied by a multi-lingual professional guide! For a full brochure, please contact Joe Stillo at 732-804-3218 or [email protected]. Deposit deadline is this Thursday, August 15th. Photo above: Sister Anne Powers and Bishop John Smith in Caesarea on a 2008 pilgrimage to the Holy Land. The trip was so special to Sister Anne, who died in 2011, that on her last visit to the doctor, they stopped discussing medical treatments and prescriptions, and instead shared their experiences about the Holy Land. Her doctor, a recent convert to Christianity, had gone as part of a U.S. team of doctors who volunteered their time and talent to help the less fortunate.

Notice to CYO parents: Every year, because we have between 50-100 teens join our CYO, we need additional supervisors at our meetings and outside events. We have had some wonderful parents assist with this. It normally only requires 2-3 times a year that you are needed but it assures us that our
teens will be well supervised and safe. Please call Donna O’Meara at the Rectory at 732-449-6364 ext. 100 if you are interested in being a CYO volunteer. I promise you that you will love every minute you spend with our CYO angels! ! God Bless, Mrs. Reilly Email [email protected] or text/call me at 732-685-6011.
CYO Summer Service
Community Activities
Next Sunday, August 18th, at the 8 AM Mass, one of the intentions is for brothers Bryan and James Ahern. Predeceased by Bryan, young James missed how they used to celebrate their birthdays together, even though they did not share the same birth date. When James passed away suddenly last December, the family felt comfort knowing that the boys were reunited in heaven. So on August 18th, family members will be at Mass to celebrate Bryan and James, together again in the presence of angels.
