Draw Near During Lent Presbyterians Today’s new Lenten Devotional for 2015 invites you to journey with
Jesus to His cross and resurrection with the help of the book of Psalms, often called the prayer book of the Bible. Along this journey, you’ll sample a variety of spiritual practices and seek prayerful ways to draw nearer to God.
Draw Near features a Scripture reading, meditation, prayer, and set of reflection questions for each day of the Lenten season. The beautifully-illustrated devotional is a perfect daily companion, making it easy to grab a moment for quiet meditation.
Devotion booklets are available in the church office, Narthex and Fellowship Hall. Lenten Devotions begin on Ash Wednesday (February 18) and end on Easter Sunday.
Hebrews 4:15(ASV)
For we have not a high priest that cannot be touched with the feeling of our
infirmities; but one that hath been in all points tempted like as we are,
yet without sin. Let us therefore draw near with boldness unto the throne of
grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace to help us in time of need.

Rev. Sue Watkins
Thank you to all who participated in our Annual Meeting! It was longer than usual, but we all learned a lot from each other so it was time well spent. One result of our meeting is that a committee has been formed to begin planning for a separate contemporary worship service late on Sundays afternoons, probably about 5:00 pm. Pat Walton [email protected] is organizing the committee if you are interested in helping.
We have tried contemporary worship as a separate service before, and we have currently incorporated some contemporary songs into our morning service. We will be trying a separate service again because we have become aware that the blended service is not reaching many of our younger members. Did you know that we have 25 church members between the ages of 15-
25 and another 21 between the ages of 26-45? Wouldn’t it be a good thing if we could involve more of them in regular worship?
We don’t yet know when we will be launching this service, but it will be as soon as we can get things up and running. We also don’t know whether we will still include a couple of contemporary songs in the morning service or return to a strictly traditional format. What do you think? I would love to hear from as many of you as possible about this. If you want your response included in our planning, please e-mail me [email protected] or put it in writing. A lot of prayer will go into this.
I do have one thing I must ask of all of us. In the Body of Christ
we need to acknowledge and bless the worship of others, even if it
is not to our taste. Whether you prefer your favorite hymns or
worship songs fresh from the Christian radio station, please pray
for the success of the other service. Even when you are with like-
minded friends, only positive and supportive words should be
expressed. Even when you are alone, only positive and supportive
thoughts should be entertained. That is how we will grow this
church!
