EQUESTRIAN DINNERLast Friday night the ASC Equestrian Team held its annual awards night at Britton House. The evening was hosted by the newly appointed Equestrian Captain Libby Crampton who did a brilliant job. The night was well attended with over fifty people enjoying the BBQ cooking and live music from Isabella Jacobson and Thomas Card. It was wonderful to get together with parents, staff and of course the students. We were grateful to the assistance of the grounds staff, cleaners, caterers and IT support team for preparing the area and the facilities to make the night run
smoothly. We also appreciated the guest waiters, Dylan Boyd, Thomas Card and Felix McClymont. A number of awards were handed out over the course of the eveningGRAHAM HYMANGraham is visiting us today, as part of our ‘All Saints presents’ series. Year 10 will be having a full day seminar. Graham runs Youth Specialties Australia which provides innovative training covering such issues as confidence, resilience and motivation. The days program will focus on Surviving Year’s 11 and 12 (How to use the seniors years as a platform for the life you want to have) and Surviving Life (Identifying the particular dangers of late adolescence and encouraging wise choices).AMOWYear 10 will also be involved in All My Own Work tomorrow as well as some
aquatics. All My Own Work is designed to help Higher School Certificate students to follow the principles and practices of good scholarship. This includes understanding and valuing ethical practices when locating and using information as part of their HSC studies. It is a BoSTES program that must be undertaken before students can enrol in Year 11 courses.FAST FACTA family of people with blue skin lived in Kentucky for many generations. Take Heart Australia Day 2015 is going to be BIG
and we want you to take part in it!En masse, people have done some pretty incredible things for Guinness World Records – they’ve danced with umbrellas, dressed up as Smurfs and even im-
personated Elvis. Now we’re asking you to do something incredible too: learn CPR!
Take Heart Australia Day is about teaching people to save lives, and with over 500 Australians suffering a fatal sudden cardiac arrest every week, the more
people we train the better. So, on the 30th of November we’ll be hosting multiple events across NSW in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for most people trained in CPR within 24 hours. All Saints’ College has been asked to
host one of the regional events, so for one day we will endeavor to train as many Students, Parents and members of the public as we can. These free sessions will take around 30 minutes and are provided by qualified trainers. For more
information please contact the clinic on 02 6332 7300 or by email: [email protected].
Join us in making history, and more importantly – learn what to do when cardiac arrest strikes. In the end, all it takes to save the life of another Australian is you
and your two hands.
This Week’s Sport Draws
Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind. (1 Peter 3:8, NRSV). I am sure that we have all been shocked and saddened by the upsurge in terrorist attacks over the last two weeks. The world has yet again witnessed the senseless loss of innocent lives; the bombing of the Russian airliner, the suicide bombing in Beirut, and the attacks on Paris. Our students have been showing their respect and sympathies in Chapels this week in silent prayer and in the lighting of candles. These terrible events have us rightly asking “why?” It is difficult to see what the perpetrators hope to achieve when the response of governments whose people have been attacked is to retaliate with increased force. It is also puzzling why the perpetrators claim religious authority when this further alienates Muslims who are trying to live a peaceful and compassionate life.
Too often we see religion being blamed for terror and war. No religion is immune to this. Christians have been guilty of despicable acts claiming the authority of Christ. Even Buddhists are guilty of terror and murder of Muslims and Christians. We need to understand that it is not their religion that demands these acts but is a distorted view of specific and often minute writings that drive them. I heard an academic on the radio yesterday who noted that the young men and boys who are radicalised often have never read the Qur’an and do not have a proper understanding of Islam.Whilst all religions have distinct differences in their world view, and we cannot claim that they are all different paths to the same destination, we
should recognise that at the heart of all of the main religions of the world is an understanding that we are to love one another, care for one another, and live at peace with one another. This can and must happen, but it can only happen if we make the effort to understand each other’s point of view. With every blessing,Rev. Tony Card.Thought for the week: Learn where there is wisdom, where there is strength, where there is understanding, so that you may at the same time discern where there is length of days, and life, where there is light for the eyes, and peace. (Baruch 3:14, NRSV)

More than 125 excited students and teachers from the Central NSW regions were recently awarded for completing the Cows Create Careers - Farm Module at a series of presentation days at Cowra. The days recognised 32 schools from across NSW which had completed the program and included All Saints’ College.Prizes were awarded to both the winning schools and to student teams.Cows Create Careers is a Dairy Australia program which is supported by National Centre for Dairy Education. The program commenced in 2004 with dairy farmers in the Strzelecki Lions Club in Victoria and has now grown to more than 210 schools across Australia with almost 10,000 students completing the program in 2014.“The Cows Create Careers program aims to increase student awareness of careers in the Dairy Industry in a very ‘hands-on’ way,” All Saints’ Head of Senior School Stewart Ross said. The program builds awareness of dairy industry careers - from teaching students

about educational and vocational pathways, to profiling the diverse range of professional careers in the dairy industry. The students each took on the responsibility of rearing two three-week-old calves at school. Each school was provided with dairy industry
curriculum for Years 7 and 8 and Years 9 to 11, at no cost.By bringing calves into schools, the students not only experienced the fun of learning about the different skills required in the dairy industry, they also got a real sense of what it means to take day-to-day care of livestock.
