Individual Assignment Mostly, in the market, the recent design of motorcycle have a sleek design to meet the aesthetic value that the customer want. However, the conventional manufacturing cannot fabricate the intricate design. Therefore, only with rapid prototyping can reach the level of complicity. The part that I choose is the passenger handle in motorcycle as shown in figure 1 and figure 2. The reason why I choose this part is because the passenger handle on the motorcycle in the market are lack in functionality and ergonomically unsuitable. ince the passenger handle purpose is for the passenger to hold on to, it re!uires high friction for the user to hold on to. However, the sleek design of the handle, makes it hard to hold on to. The design have a very edgy which makes the user uncomfortable using it and the smooth surface make s it slippery as shown in figure ". The new design have a couple of modification which is. 1. There are several steps involved in modifying and fabricating this part, which are.

1. The method of scanning is point to point scanning with trigger probe using articulated arm

 because it can reach the comple# shape with its high degree of freedom.

2. ince the the part are made up of metal, it will not indent the part, in addition, the part isshiny, thus, contact scanning method is the most suitable.

". $fter all points have been scanned, point cloud data are obtained.

%. &rom the point cloud data, we can proceed to triangulation, where we can produce surfacefor the model.

'. (hen all the point have been triangulate, a polygon model is produced.

). (ith the polygon model, we can modify it into the desired design.

*. $fter we are satisfied with modified design, the model are converted into T+ format.

. Then, the T+ format model are sliced into multiple layer.

-. sing elective +aser intering , the part are printed layer by layer using aluminium

 powder.1/. Then, the part undergoes post curing and infiltration process to improve its mechanical

 properties.
