You, the Class of 2015, are about to take part in a tradition atSouthwest Minnesota State University. Mustang “Gold Rush”Days symbolizes the start of your academic and social questfor success. A“Gold Rush” by definition is:

Our four-day orientation program will provide sessions toacclimate you to our student services, and the guest speakerswill give you advice about how to be successful in a collegeenvironment. The various activities during the days andnights will give you the opportunity to smile, laugh, andhave fun with your fellow classmates. This is the start of anew chapter in your life, and we want to start it off with aBANG!

REGISTRATION FOR FALL CLASSESAlthough many of you have registered for your fall classes, some have not.Information concerning the August 19 Registration Day will be mailed tostudents prior to the program and you will need to RSVP for the program. Ifyou have questions about registration, please contact the Office ofAdmission at 800-642-0684 ext. 6286.

FINANCIAL AID INFORMATIONCheck the status of your financial aid via e-services at www.SMSU.edu. Ifyour award has not been finalized, your loan is not certified, or you haveany questions, please contact the Financial Aid Office at 1-800-642-0684 or(507) 537-6281. The Financial Aid Office will be open from 8:30 a.m.to 4:00 p.m., August 15 - 19.

EMPLOYMENT INFORMATIONIf you plan to work on or off campus while attending Southwest MinnesotaState University, regulations require you to present your original socialsecurity card and a picture ID to your employer to verify your eligibility towork in the United States. Please be sure to bring these documents with youwhen you come to Southwest so paychecks will not be delayed.

IMPORTANT PAYMENT DATESAug. 1 Students must have met the minimum payment

criteria. Minimum payment criteria can be viewedat www.SMSU.edu/PaymentPolicy.

Through the use of humor, the show explores how mixed messages, gender role stereotypes and unrealistic fantasies contribute to misunderstandings between the sexes. Students are engaged in a candid discussion on dating and the realities of date rape as they are challenged to provide solutionsthat will better improve communications in interpersonal relationships.

When does my Fall Semester bill have to be paid?A: Students must have met the minimum payment criteria by August 1, 2011.Minimum payment criteria can be viewed at www.SMSU.edu/PaymentPolicy .All fall semester accounts are due in full on September 26, 2011.

If I have been awarded work-study, how do I go about finding a job oncampus?A: Campus job openings will be posted on our SMSU website under studentemployment. It is up to you to contact the departments or areas in which youare interested and ask if they have any jobs available.

Do I get a pay check for the work-study hours I work?A: YES. You will receive a paycheck every two weeks for the number of hoursworked. Most students work an average of 8-10 hours per week and get paid$8.00 per hour. All student workers are paid via direct deposit.

As a student, when can I pick up my Stafford Loan Check?A: Stafford Loan funds will first be applied to charges for the semester. Anyfunds remaining will be available for pick up on September 2 only at theCashier’s Window between 9 am - 2:30 pm. All refund checks are mailedafter this date. Direct deposit will be available and students are encouraged tofill out the direct deposit form.

When should I buy my books and how much will they cost?A: The Campus Store will be open during fall orientation for new students topurchase their books. Students may purchase new or used books from thebookstore, and some books may be available to rent. Books generally cost $500 /semester.

Can I change my meal plan if it is not right for me?A: YES. Meal plan changes for Fall Semester may be made through Friday,September 2, 2011. Meal plan changes for Spring Semester can be made thelast two weeks of Fall semester through the first two weeks of Spring Classes.These requests need to be submitted in writing at the Mustang Card Officeacross from the bookstore on the first floor of the Student Center.

When do meal plans start?A: Meal plans begin Thursday, August 18, for the evening meal. Meals fromyour dining plan can be used in the Residential Restaurant located in theStudent Center. The meal plan week starts on Saturday and runs throughFriday. Your meal plan will start over each week. Your meals do not carry overfrom week to week.

How do I use my Mustang Money?A: Mustang Money can be used just like CASH to purchase anything in theResidential Restaurant, the Food Court, Java City, Mustang Express,concessions, student catering, Barnes & Noble Campus Store, and more. The cashier will simply scan your Student ID for the amount purchased.Mustang Money is an easy way to purchase items without carrying extra cash.

Do I have to leave the Residence Halls during breaks or can I stay in myroom?A: The only time the Residence Halls close is at the end of fall semester inDecember. The halls are closed for approximately one month while studentsare on semester break. Interim housing is available for free, but students mustsign up at the Residence Life office to stay in their rooms over break.

- Foundation Apartment Lot - $249.00

(For those living in Foundation Apart. ONLY)

- Motorcycle Permit - $20.00
