AMC’s Breaking Bad has been the most anticipated TV drama in the 21st century and now it’s over! After six years, five seasons and 62 epi-sodes, Breaking Bad is over.

When Episode 516 – “Felina” ended at 10:15 pm on 29 Sept, 2013 last year in America, the show was over for good on the AMC although viewers in the UK would still have to wait for ‘Felina’ to be broadcasted on Netflix. No more cliffhangers, no more pre-dictions. There may be some on-go-ing debate and discussion, but we’ve gotten all the Breaking Bad we’re going to get.

When chemistry teacher Walter White is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given only two years to live, he decides he has nothing to lose. He lives with his teenage son, who has cerebral palsy, and his wife, in New Mexico. Determined to en-sure that his family will have a secure future, White embarks on a career of drugs and crime. He proves to be remarkably proficient in this new world as he begins manufacturing and selling methamphetamine with one of his former students. Walter White attained something of a following or fan base through his gradual development from the bland, plaid-shirted high school chemistry teacher into ruthless “Heisenberg,” the ruthless head of an international drug empire. Vince Gilligan has cre-ated an outstanding monster, a mon-ster that we will always remember.

We take a look back on the series and the series finale.

The storytelling and characters that have been created by genius Vince Gilligan. He has created characters that we all love or in some way hate. The view of each character in this story changes as we get to know them better and as we see them respond to each other and to circumstances they face. With each episode, we find out a little more about them, in the same way we get to know our friends more deeply as we spend more time with them. But none of this is done at the ex-pense of plot. Breaking Bad has a brilliant plot, interwoven with a myriad of twists and turns and sur-prises. It’s through those twists that we discover who the characters really are, decide what we think of them, and then re-think our perceptions as the characters reveal more of who they are.Breaking Bad has received wide-spread critical acclaim and has been praised by many critics as one of the greatest television dramas of all time. The show has won numerous of awards and nominations includ-ing seven Emmy Awards. With the numerous awards won in the bag, we are not surprised that Breaking Bad will always be a favourite in all of our hearts. So Thank you Breaking Bad.

If you are still saddened about the TV show ending, not to worry, the network AMC is moving forward with a spin-off series based around the adventures of Walter White’s attorney, Saul Goodman. The show is tentatively titled Better Call Saul, and will actually take place before the events of Breaking Bad.

Played by Bob Oden-kirk, the character of Saul Goodman is a favourite of both fans and Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, and the idea for a spin-off has been floated for some time. So keep your eyes open!

Going out with a bang! - AMC

Behind the scenes - AMC

The series finale was truly epic and very elegant, sur-prising in its cheerful out-come, and triumphant on the note of a redeemed, and very much departed Walter White. Who’d have thought?

Unlike certain other series with murderous antiheroes at the core wrapping up in a hi-lariously inept fashion, it will take a bit of time to processexactly how well ‘Felina’

wraps up the saga of Break-ing Bad. There were no unexpected deaths, save for the tension permeating the entire hour. The episode gave us an eerie aspect as Walt terrorises Elliot and Gretchen. Walter did what he could to make things right with his family and friends, at least in his own way, before executing an al-together perfect and ingen-ious plan to take down

Lydia, Jack and his men. No real complications, no bitter showdown with Jesse, or unexpected horrors. Walter White won, and went out admiring something he’d come to love even more than himself which was chemistry. A transformation to admire and one transfor-mation that we will never forget.

It’s a strange feeling, to find Breaking Bad’s ostensibly happy ending so very

unexpected, but we can likely all agree that “Fe-lina” would have still proven the series fina-le to be satisfying to a magnificent series, had it been an hour and fifteen minutes of blue static. You can buy the complete series of Breaking Bad on DVD and Blu-ray.

The new smash hit comedy has been on our screens and we have laughed.

Brooklyn Nine Nine is a sit-com following the lives of a group of detectives in a New York precinct, including one slacker who is forced to shape up when he gets a new boss.. Creators Dan Goor and Michael Schur have created a hilariously fun new workplace comedy that just happens to be set in a police

departmen which is pre-cinct 99.

Samberg who plays Jake Peralta is goofy but he is much more appealing than you’ve ever seen him, even when he comes across as the village idiot... Possibly

more so when he is act-ing the fool and wearing Speedos uncomfortably and getting reprimanded for his lack of respect for authority. The Show has won a Gold-en Globe for best comedy and Samberg picking up one for his role. We see this being a great success in the future.

The Musketeers are back in this new Action Drama.

Set in 1630 Paris, D’Artagnan, Athos, Ara-mis, and

Porthos are a group of Musketeers who fight for King

and country commanded by Captain Treville.

It’s a series of stand-alone episodes but with a long-term storyarc happening in the background - which finally comes together by the series final - and is very much an essemble show, with each of the four main characters getting more or less equal screen time, though perhaps D’artagnan and Ara-mis dominate a little more. This is definitely a fun show but still with serious and intense moments ( especially as the series goes on, so you need to stick with it for several episodes, instead of judging it on just the first ) and whether you stick with it largely depends on whether you warm to the show’s main characters and are longing for something ‘lighter’ than the dark dra-mas of modern times..

Pramface tells the story of a 16 year old boy and 18 year old who drunkenly sleep together and they riase their own child together.

Pramface is genuinely witty without being the usual low-level smut that passes

for comedy in many programmes and movies aimed at the 15-30 age group these days. The actors deliver their lines and play it at just the right level and it is good to see that there are writers about that can bring

something new to the table.

Anna Chancellor and Angus Dea-con work well together as the parents of the pregnant daugh-ter. BBC has created a good comedy that deals with teens having a child.

The contempary version of Sherlock (adapted from the orginal book Sherlock written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle) has been a promising show, it has been incredible so far.

Sherlock depicts “consulting detective” Holmes, assisting the Metropolitan Police Service, primar-ily Detective Inspector Greg Lestrade in solving various crimes. Holmes is assisted by his flat-mate, Dr John Watson, who has returned from military service in Afghanistan, solve mysteries and crimes together. The series is a comment on Holmes as much as it is an adventure in which he stars. Knowingness is one of the things it wants to share with you.

Sherlock is brilliant at creating witty dialogue, Benedict Cumberbatch is alive and well and in fine form. With Benedict Cumberbatch playing Sherlock Holmes, his brilliantly judged humour and pathos. Sherlock’s certainly among the most interesting people one could know, the cleverest, and maybe the smartest. What a gift is Martin Freeman as Watson - a decent, capable soul, made a muggins to be outshone, put upon and driven to the brink of mortal impatience. Holmes and Watson are such enduring characters, and these versions written and played so well.

Thank goodness for flashbacks, because we also finally get to see Mr. Cumberbatch kiss a woman in a way that will leave no doubt about Sher-lock’s talent as a lover. As sly and quirky as ever, Sherlock continues to pursue a fiendishly clever trail, taking Holmes into a world of smartphones, DNA testing and state-of-the-art forensics. The contempary update allows us to connect more with Sherlock and Holmes with the show being set in the present day.

Sherlock’s third season ultimately makes the series’ world richer, and a stronger foundation for more stories to come. The Empty Hearse may be a flawed addition to the canon, but I cannot stress enough how good

it is to see some of Brit-ain’s brightest lights back together and making something truly special.

A paltry number of things on television are as exciting as a new season of Sherlock - and if you haven’t seen the first two tragically short seasons, then do everything in your power to right that wrong this minute.

Three episodes are nev-er enough to satisfy our appetite for the dazzling BBC/Masterpiece Mys-tery! version of Sherlock,The third season is looser, funnier, more emotion-al and also significantly less logical than what has come before. Thanks to the stars, the wit of the writing and a few clever tricks, the show remains a joy.

If there’s been one constant throughout The Walk-ing Dead’s four year run it’s the dedication of the cast and crew to give their all to making the best possible show. It’s been evident from the start and after a superb third season and an equally powerful start to the fourth, there’s never been a better time to be a fan. Of course one of the longest running (see: surviving) and instrumental parts of The Walking Dead’s success, comes from the fantastic work of Norman Reedus as fan super-favourite, Daryl Dixon and we chat to the actor who plays him.

Thank you so much, you must have seen the first eight epiosdes of season 4 and I’m excited for you to see the back eight – the back eight I think are our strongest episodes and there’s some great stuff coming up.

Well I mean sometimes yeah, like the fight between Rick and The Governor – those guys just beat the crap out of each other – that was crazy. But yeah when there’s a lot of action, it’s more gruelling you know it’s hot down there and there’s a lot to do, a lot of marks to hit, a lot of weapons to play with – you don’t accidentally want to smash someone in the face with a gun and so forth, so you have to be very focused when you shoot those things.

I think we’d all be lying if we said every time we get a script we didn’t thumb through it really fast to see if we’re alive! [laughs] I mean it’s like real life, you never really know how much time you have, even with other people, so I don’t think anybody on the show’s gonna die in a hospital bed with all their loved ones holding hands, smiling, you know it’s one of those shows.

First of all I just wanted to say congratulations on the show and it has been a delight to watch.

Did the increased scale of the action make it a more physically tough shoot?

Are you saddened that some of your co-workers can be killed off?

What do we expect from Daryl from now on?

From now on? Well, in the back eight episodes, we get to learn about more of Daryl’s backsto-ry when he is with Beth, the two are separted from other groups from the tragedy that hap-pened in the prison, he then becomes lonely and wanders off into another group, he feels a lot more lost.

I’ve never really had anybody come up to me and say they hate the show, or they hate the characters. The ones who come up to me are really into it and it’s a really fun time for our show and a fun time for the fans of our show because it’s just getting better and better and better and I can honestly say that.

After four years we’re hitting our A game and we’re just now hitting our stride, so it’s just getting better, I can’t wait for this back eight to show because they’re so good, they’re so, so good, so I’m becoming more of a fan of this show as I’m on it, it’s just getting better and better honestly.

How have you found the fan reaction to the show, because it can be quite intense at times?

Thank you so much for coming in and chating with us. Thank you Norman Reedus.

Daryl has a crossbow and it has be-come iconic , have you ever had any training?

I didn’t have any training with a crossbow before that, but I’ve now had four years to play with it, with a really good weapons expert, John Sanders, on the show who just makes us all feel really comfortable with it – you can have six people shooting AK-47s and automatic weapons all around each other and running in close circles and diving and all this other stuff, so you have to really be comfortable, I think that’s the biggest thing.
