    MUSIC ANDLITERACY

    An innovative programme designed to enhance literacy skills and increase competence increative writing. Our unique approach uses song-writing, music performance & production todevelop literacy skills in an indirect way. Learners will get to analyse song lyrics from currentartists to explore literary techniques such as themes, symbolism, metaphor, simile and manyothers. They will then begin to write their own lyrics, which will later be performed andrecorded with the help of our tutors.

    STEM: CONFIDENCEAND CODING

    An intermediate, level-1course to introduce learners in a fun and engaging way tocomputer coding and its real-world applications. Participants will learn about codinglanguages and copy strips of code to perform basic tasks. They will also get to buildcontrollable devices such as blue tooth controlled robots, boats and cars and use code toprogramme them to carry out a number of different actions.

    The course focuses on providing participants with a unique and enjoyable learning session givingthem an insight into setting up and running their own businesses and developing the skills requiredto become an entrepreneur.     PERSONAL ANDSOCIAL EDUCATIONQUALIFICATIONS

    From entry 3 to level 1, our PHSE courses offer learners the chance to experience a variety of different units

    designed to ensure they gain the skills and knowledge required to help them make informed choices and lifedecisions; communicate effectively in different scenarios; make healthy life choices and live productive andfulfilling lives. Units include alcohol awareness, developing personal confidence and self-awareness, angermanagement, understanding prejudice and discrimination, equality and diversity, bullying awareness,understanding the effects of substance misuse as well as a number of other interesting and relevant units.

    Combinations of the below units make up different levels of qualifications. Prior to the running of one of ourQCF award courses in personal and social education, we discuss which units would be most relevant to theschool/young people prior to planning a bespoke timetable in order to meet learning abilities and any desiredoutcomes.

    WORKING AS A TEAM

    UNDERSTANDING THE EFFECTS OF ALCOHOL

    PERSONAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENT THROUGHPHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

    This course is designed to give an understanding about alcohol, its effects and thehelp and support available for those who misuse alcohol. The course combinesinformal learning and interactive learning sessions with music related activities toengage participants.

    With a key emphasis on working as a team, this course acts as a great introduction togroup music making through a variety of activities. Experiment with different sounds(using technology and live instruments) and experience song writing activities andvocal recording sessions. At entry level three this unit can be completed by a range ofparticipants.

    You will get to choose a physical recreational activity to take part in, learn about thepreparation required to perform the activity and understand the impact of taking part

    in the activity.

    UNDERSTANDING HEALTHY LIVING

    This course focuses on acquiring the knowledge to be able to live a healthy lifestyle.We also teach how self confidence, self awareness and a positive attitude contributestowards a happy healthy life.

    Understand the terminology used when talking about health, gain a knowledge of thecomponents of a healthy lifestyle and get guidance and support on how to makepositive lifestyle changes.

    SUBSTANCE MISUSE AWARENESS

    This course is designed to give an understanding on substance misuse, the effects ofcontrolled substances and the help, guidance and support available for those who useor who are at risk of using harmful substances. The course combines informal learningand interactive, fun and informative learning sessions to engage participants.

    ALCOHOL AWARENESSThis course is designed for participants of all ages and gives an understanding of theeffects of alcohol and the help available for alcohol misuse. Participants will get towear actual "beer goggles" to experience the effects of alcohol and coordination.

    DEVELOPING PERSONAL CONFIDENCE ANDSELF AWARENESSThis course has been specially created to build participants confidence, self esteemand self awareness. Learn techniques to help you feel more confident; learn to identifythe times in life where you lack confidence and how you can combat this; understandthe effects of different behaviours and how they effect you and those around you.

    DECISION MAKING

    This course will help you to better understand the decision making process through funand engaging group activities. Identify the different stages in decision making, learn arange of decision making techniques and implement these techniques through role-playactivities.

    BULLYING AWARENESSThis course is designed for participants of all ages and teaches about the effects ofbullying, the various types of bullying and provides guidance on the help availablefor people who are bullied.     EQUALITY AND DIVERSITYThis unit will explore the various themes surrounding equality and diversity and itsrelevance in todays diverse social, cultural and religious world. Explore whatdiscrimination means and the various types of discrimination that takes place.Understand how to challenge negative stereotypes and the various ways we canmake society more equal.

    ANGER MANAGEMENT (LEVEL ONE)Understand how emotions can effect behaviour; know how anger can effect society;

    understand biological changes in relation to anger and understand where to get helpand support. The unit focuses on anger management techniques and increasesparticipants self-awareness.

    UNDERSTANDING RELATIONSHIPS (LEVEL ONE)This course is designed for participants of all ages who want to understand howrelationships work. Learn about maintaining healthy relationships, the attributesrequired for positive relationships and how power and control can influencerelationships.

    At either entry 3 or level 1, this vocational-based QCF is suitable for both beginner andintermediate levels. The workshops focus on developing knowledge & aspirations forwork, understanding career options, maximising workplace potential & exploringenterprise and entrepreneurship.
