Accidents happen. But here at Reynolds Cycling, we don’t like accidents to happen to your wheels. So we invented something called RAP.

“RAP” stands for “Reynolds Assurance Program”; however, it also stands for “Reynolds Aggres-sive Protection”, and indeed, that’s what it is.

RAP shouldn’t be confused with our standard Two Year Warranty. We manufacture excellent wheels from the highest quality materials, and of course, we back every one with our Warranty. RAP is more than a warranty. It’s an accident protection plan.

In fact, RAP is like the Warranty’s overprotective big brother, with a dose of confidence thrown in, because RAP o�ers absolute, no-questions-asked coverage.

With RAP, wheels that become damaged during regular, intended use are simply sent to the

RAP is available only on wheel sets from Authorized Dealers, and it’s for two entire years of coverage. And hurry – it must be purchased within thirty days of original wheel purchase. Like a lot of great things in life, it’s non-transferable, and limited to one replacement per wheel.

Program RAP by neměla být zaměňována s naší standardní dvouletou zárukou. Vyrábíme vynikající kola z materiálů nejvyšší kvality a samozřejmě ručíme za jejich plnou funkčnost a bezpečnost. RAP je ale více než záruka. Je to vaše pojistka náhodného poškození. To znamená, že kryje jakékoliv poškození jakýmkoliv způsobem.

Celý systém funguje na principu registrace výrobních čísel zapletených kol na webu výrobce. Tato regis-trace musí být provedena do 30 dní od zakoupení kola, je neopakovatelná - platí pouze po dobu 2 let na jedno přední a jedno zadní kolo a je nepřenosná - platí pouze pro 1. majitele, na jehož jméno je provedena.

Here at Reynolds Cycling, the hard work

happens in the Reynolds Composite Studio,

where our team of talented and dedicated

engineers collaborates on the innovative

and painstaking designs used in Reynolds

Cycling wheels.

There’s literally a rocket scientist at the

helm of RCS, and he’s an ex-pro triathlete

to boot. His name is Paul Lew, and when

he’s not designing unmanned aircraft for

the United States Department of Defense,

he’s registering another patent, analyzing

computational fluid dynamics data, or visiting

the A2 Wind Tunnel in North Carolina.

Paul Lew pioneered the use of unidirectional

carbon fiber technology in bicycle rims,

breaking ground for the entire carbon wheel

industry. His designs, molds, tooling,

production techniques, and testing

protocols create the soul of the Reynolds

Composite Studio.

Alongside of Lew is a group of creative and

brilliant engineers who pour their passion

for the ride into every aspect of wheel

design and testing.

RCS continually asks, “How can we make

this better?” – and answers its own

question with startling results.

Paul LewDirector of Technology & Innovation

DET™ stands for Dispersive Effect Termination. It is a V-shaped rim design that

smoothes turbulent, energized airflow and re-attaches it to the aerodynamic surface, e�ectively

reducing aerodynamic drag. This new shape also provides significant improvement in handling.

DET™ shifts the center of pressure further forward of the center of mass (or hub/axle center),

which creates a more stable steering force. With DET™ the side force associated with a crosswind

is constant over a wider range of crosswind angles.

Translation: predictable steering with superb handling.

With DET™, the engineers of the Reynolds Composite

Studio (RCS) challenged the popular perception that

turbulence in the boundary layer of a bicycle rim is beneficial.

Through complex Computational Fluid Dynamics

modeling, the RCS created a rim that optimally

manages turbulence and generates forward thrust.

Testing in the A2 Wind Tunnel in Mooresville, NC in

March, 2012 validated the superiority of DET™,

demonstrating that it o�ered lower minimum drag and a significantly larger yaw performance range.

DET™, Technology o�ers an aerodynamic advantage, better ride quality, improved handling, and

BWI stands for (Brake Wear Indicator) It is a 10 mm wide red line that

Reynolds embeds into the brake track. The indicator, centered

over the valve hole on both sides of

the rim, becomes visible when excessive

wear has occurred to indicate that the

wheel needs replacing.

Reynolds is the only carbon wheel to

o�er this feature, and a patent is pending

for its design.

CTg stands for Cryogenic Glass Transition. It refers to a patented braking system developed

by Reynolds. The system is comprised of two components: Reynolds' proprietary

Cryo-Blue urethane polymer brake pads and hybrid carbon-fiber-and-resin laminates in the brake track.

The integrated CTg system effectively minimizes heat build-up from pad-to-rim friction and

dissapates heat away from the brake track providing smoother, more predictable braking that delivers

the best possible stopping performance.

The Reynolds Assurance Program

“RAP” stands for “Reynolds Assurance Program”; however, it also stands for “Reynolds Aggressive Protection”, and indeed, that’s what it is.

RAP shouldn’t be confused with our standard Two Year Warranty. We man-ufacture excellent wheels from the highest quality materials, and of course, we back every one with our Warranty. RAP is more than a warranty. It’s an accident protection plan.

With RAP, wheels that become damaged during regular, intended use are simply sent to the Reynolds Technical Department for repair or replacement. No Questions Asked.

RAP is available only on wheel sets from Authorized Dealers, and it lasts for two entire years of coverage. And hurry – it must be purchased within thirty days of original wheel purchase. Like a lot of great things in life, it’s non-transferable, and limited to one replacement per wheel.

For 2013, we envisioned a line of wheels with sti�ness, acceleration, and comfort. Wheels that wouldn’t “ting” in the rocks. Wheels that would eat trail vibration, feel more stable, and enhance cornering ability.

When we entered the MTB market we knew that many of the basic principles of wheel performance would cross over. Here at Reynolds Cycling, the hard work happens in the Reynolds Composite Studio, where our team of talented and dedicated engineers collaborates on the innovative and painstaking designs used in Reynolds Cycling wheels.

There’s literally a rocket scientist at the helm of RCS, and he’s an ex-pro triathlete to boot. His name is Paul Lew, and when he’s not designing unmanned aircraft for the United States Department of Defense, he’s registering another patent, analyzing computational fluid dynamics data, or visiting the A2 Wind Tunnel in North Carolina.

Paul Lew pioneered the use of unidirectional carbon technology in bicycle rims, breaking ground for the entire carbon wheel industry. His designs, molds, tooling, production techniques, and testing protocols create the soul of the Reynolds Composite Studio.

Alongside of Lew is a group of conscientious and brilliant engineers who pour their passion for the ride into every aspect of wheel design and testing. The Reynolds Composite Studio continually asks, “How can we make this better?” – and answers its own question with startling results.

At Reynolds, “hybrid” doesn’t refer to snappy little cars that save gasoline. We have painstakingly developed a whole technology about hybrids, which we call Hybrid Modulus Laminate, or HML. The key principle of HML is that there is an optimal carbon fiber for each unique region of a wheel’s rim.

All of our 2013 MTN Wheels are based on our MR5 rim design, in which we identify five critical areas of the wheel. These are: the side wall, the spoke face, the nipple bed, the tire channel, and the rim hook bead.

Through modeling, testing, trial and error, we determined the best carbon fiber lay-up for each area. Then, using VRC, Variable Resin Chemistry, we found the optimal resin to bind the fibers. Finally

we use Inert Gas Compaction(IGC)

in the final molding process of the

rim. This is our proprietary engineer-

ing solution that pushes over 300 psi

of an inert gas into the mold creat-

ing higher compaction, eliminating

voids, increasing strength, sti�ness,

and durability. The combination of

these processes result in unparalleled

mountain rim performance.

Each wheel set on our 2013 MTN Line features Reynolds-designed straight-pull hubs. What’s

special about the hubs is their six-pawl cassette body design. That’s three more pawl than your

average wheel, resulting in a faster and more consistent engagement.

The hubs are anodized RED with a

bright gloss finish, 7075 aluminum,

weighing 155g - front and aprox.

300g - rear. They are lighter than the

previous J-bend hubs, but just as

durable. We like the way they benefit

wheel sti�ness with a wider bracing

angle of spokes.

We like quality. That’s why every wheel in our 2013 MTN Wheel Line laces up with DT Swiss Revolution

double-butted spokes. The Revolution spokes have tested to have the best quality and the highest

force and the demands of your favorite trails. They are cold-forged, thinner in the center than the ends

with a matte black finish.
