The Divine Child of Communism

Between 1945-1989, in Romania, the communist propaganda infused the artistic levels

abusing archetypes and symbols  De facto, the ideological manipulation did not create a new

realm of imaginary !as "arty#s dogma preached for $the new man%&, but functioned based on

universal cultural structures and values which it misused and butchered to serve its line of 

thin'ing (uch a case is that of the image of the child and the instances it receives under the

magic wand of communist art#s rhetoric )he imaginary of the puer and of childhood has always

represented a constant in pagan myths, *udeo-+hristian tradition and culture !moreover, in

*ungian wor's, the child constituted one of the main archetypes& t was only natural for the

communist ideology to find it an alluring prey to be anneed to its repertoire .nd to be dressed

in its colors !there#s no coincidence that, in 1984, /rwell portrays the children of 0inston#s

neighbor as indicter of their own father who did not respect Big Brother#s word the offspring is

there the clima of the ideological product&

)herefore, my pro2ect intends to investigate the image of the child illustrated by

communist propaganda in Romania in various artistic fields3 literature, visual arts,

cinematography oreover, wish to research the way in the which the cultural, mythological and

+hristian cultural heritage of this image has been used and converted to the "arty#s convictions  

the process through which *ung#s divine child and child *esus are replaced by the system with the

image of (talin#s childhood and with pioneers, and also the instances it covered from early

 prolet'ultism to +eau escu#s age (ince communism wanted to establish a reeducation, consider ș

it significant to show the implementation of propaganda on the effigy of the child t is this very

age segment which was regarded for forming a new generation of ideological heartbeat
