Richard House Quarterly Quiz

About Richard House

Richard House is a children’s hospice based in East London. It opened in 2000 and provides care and support

to children and young people who are at risk of death because of a life-limiting or life-threatening health

condition. Richard House delivers clinical care, short breaks and other residential services to children and

young adults, while supporting their families through counselling, therapy, bereavement support and more.

With a focus on living for today and creating positive memories for tomorrow, Richard House also offer a

range of activities for all the family to enjoy. Services are provided free of charge to children and families but

this requires donations of around £2m each year to continue this vital work. You can find out more about the

How Can My Donation Help?

£50 could fund a session in our multi-sensory room. With a wide variety of light, sound and

tactile equipment this specially designed space stimulates children, helping them to develop their

communication and coordination whilst exploring their world around them in new ways.

30 people taking a couple of hours to socialise together and join the Quarterly Quiz would raise the

£150 it costs for a family entertainer to come to Richard House and bring laughter and smiles,

resulting in memories that can last a lifetime.

It costs £750 to provide a night of overnight care for a child at Richard House and their family with

a night of much needed respite. 38 participants in the Quarterly Quiz 4 times a year will give a

family the peace of mind of knowing that their child is being looked after by a specialist team of

nurses and care staff 24 hours a day.

The Quarterly Quiz

Do you want to increase staff engagement and socialising? Is your community group searching for ideas for

activities? Do you want to support charity in an innovative, participatory way? We have the answer –

simply sign up to join our Richard House Quarterly Quiz. Every 3 months you will receive our fun general

knowledge quiz by email. Simply gather participants and have an enjoyable night testing your knowhow and

savviness whilst raising money for charity. Don’t have the time or opportunity to organise a get together?

Just send it out by email to your contacts and ask them to return their answers to join in remotely. We

recommend £5 entry per person. Whether you wish to provide a prize is at your discretion – you may find

that participants or local businesses may be willing to donate prizes to increase the amount raised.

What You Need To Do

How To Run A Quarterly Quiz

Firstly decide whether you want to run a Quiz event or an e-Quiz

A Quiz Event:

Organise a suitable time and venue for your event

Find a quizmaster to ask the questions and read out the answers after each round

Decide whether participants will participate as individuals or teams

Consider if you need a prize and if so ideally source a donated prize

Publicise the event and request RSVPs so you have an idea of attendee numbers

Print enough Participant e-Packs for each individual or team

At the Event:

Collect £5 per participant and give out the question sheets to teams/individuals

As participants to put their name on each sheet

Ask the questions one round at a time

After each round ask participants to swap answers and read out the answers for them to

mark and total the scores for the round

Collect in the score sheets and read out the scores

Do the same for each round

At the end of Round 5 total up the scores and announce the winners, awarding any prize

After the Event:
