    MEMORANDUM FOR

    FROM

In 1960 we set up a campaign, trip to the Catskills at the strong recommendation pi Nelson ...fockefeller and Louie Lefkowitz to appeal t6 the Jewish vote in New York City. xThous ands of New;York (Bronx) Jewish votel'S are

    I

to be found in the big report hotels of the Catskills over Labor Day weekend. short of stUluping every street corner in the BrorLx, lhis is the best way to reach them. We set up a motorca~le among three hotels all within very short driving ;distance of one another where, with some advance work, big'crowds could be ass embled.

/We had ogranpned a number of popular Jewish personalities (Eddie Fisher, /etc. ) to travel with and introduce the candidate at these varim/s stops.

I It was the Ro,~kefeller organization's very strong feeling then that this is the mos t ef£ective kind of campaigning we could do to impact thp New York City vote. Whethere that is still a valid judgment I don1t know. ,

1 I have no doubt with the President going there as President now that quite ali enormous and enthusiastic turnout would be pos sible with careful advance work.
