Brief Summary- As a Business's Unit Control Officer for all offshore products and Treasury for the Non Resident Cluster under IPB business I am in charge of the governance and oversight of all key policies on distribution of products as well as guidance on the changes required in our offerings arising out of a regulatory or a policy frameworks. The business operates across different geographies in Asia and EMEA (UAE&UK) which makes it that much more prone to a risk .Given my current and past experience in Wealth Management products and banking I also participated in the current HK Retail Audit covering operations. One of the key tasks for the role are good project management skills experiencing arising out of changes to our business and an eye for detail to understand the business’s control framework.The profile requires working closely with the legal, compliance and control functions to ensure adherence to business and regulatory requirements in all of our markets.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Assistant Vice President-Business Unit Control Officer-NR Offshore Wealth Managements& Treasury (Aug’12 till date)
Provide oversight and define controls for the business’s product and treasury department. Develop the testing methodology and monitor Self Control Assessment for validating the compliance with
guidelines and policies. Responsible for implementing all local and international regulatory reporting.
-Annual MAS submission on Financials and products-Semi Annual RDR reporting for all products -Quarterly reporting to Central Bank of Bahrain on MF holdings
Develop various reports and technology changes for post trade controls and existing regulations. Point of Contact for all audit and regulatory visits and requests.
-Successful and clean ratings for the unit in 6 compliance testing reviews conducted across EMEA.
Own and review the various Sales Supervisory Manuals for the Offshore Product& Treasury, The Investments Business Programme as well as the Pricing Policy.
Call monitoring for Commodities and Currency Trading Accounts initiations by the Treasury Sales Officers.
Prepare and conduct the product specific monthly Investments Supervisory Committee called the TMG.(Transaction Monitoring Group)
Participate and represent the unit in the quarterly BRCC.(Business Risk and Control Committee)
Spearhead projects for change management arising out of regulations and policies.Key Projects undertaken
-Migration and development of Sales Surveillance Reports for investment products from India to Asia platform.
-Exit of US person’s portfolio in guidance with the regional policy on no sales
