Out of the classroom..... into the outdoors

Adventure

As a founding member of the Association of Adventure Operators and a school travel specialist, RVA has operation bases around the world. Our dedicated and highly trained team of instructors and leaders have a passion for exploration and a love of the outdoors.

LIfe Education

Focusing on the students’ personal, social and educational development, our flexible itineraries and tailor-made expeditions are suitable for all ages. All of our trips immerse young people in the culture of their host country, challenging them to understand more about themselves and others. And that’s just the start of it. From full blown expeditions to the outer reaches, to community service and conservation trips – you’ll find details in here of these programs and activities.

School may be over, but you’re still learning with Rift Valley Adventures. What are you waiting for?

MOUNTAIN EXPEDITIONS...THE ULTIMATE CHALLENGE...

At 5,199 metres, Mt. Kenya’s summit is blanketed by glaciers and snow with spectacular mooreland seperating the rugged peaks from the thickly forested lower slopes. A five day hike will reach Pt. Lenana, just under 5,000 metres.

There are popular trails, but as with all RVA’s trips we take you off the beaten track. Local knowledge and years of experience have allowed us to map our own routes well away from other walkers.

An ascent of Mt. Kilimanjaro is not something that can simply be ticked off in the guide book. But with careful planning, allowing sufficient acclimatisation time and mentally preparing yourself for the expedition you will have a PEAK experience.

Spreading over 7 days, the journey will represent the hardest, and most rewarding, challenge in your life to date.

Mount Meru (4566m) is the second highest mountain in Tanzania and a much underrated mountain climb. It is a horseshoe-shaped volcanic crater with a spectacular narrow ridge and superb all round views.

The cliffs of the inner walls below the summit are over 1500m high, and inside the caldera is a subsidiary peak called the Ash Cone (3,670m) that last erupted only 100 years ago

Conservation at Work

Rift Valley Adventures want to put something back into the local communities we visit and work with.

The aim of our ‘Schools for Communities’ programme is to link your students with local people to create a better understanding among people from different cultures and backgrounds and support development and education projects.

You and your school can make a real difference by getting involved in projects like setting up renewable energy systems, water recycling, school development, teaching English or sport or assisting in community enterprises like bee keeping.

Schools for Communities

COMMUNITY & WILDLIFE...

Your visit provides funds for local communities and practical assistance on conservation projects such as maintaining rhino and chimpanzee sanctuaries, forest restoration, widlife monitoring and natural habitat protection.

Students find themselves up close and personal with some of the most endangered wildlife and have the opportunity to make their contribution to conservation.

By getting involved in ‘Conservation at Work’ you can help contribute to desperately needed wildlife and conservation projects in some of the most endangered ecosystems around the world.

Welcome to beautiful Kenya! It is in the heart of this spectacular country that Rift Valley Adventures has chosen to lay down its roots. And who can blame us - Kenya is the jewel in Africa’s crown. It is one of the most exciting and naturally blessed destinations on Earth: with equatorial glaciers and savannah packed full of wildlife all within sight of eachother. A trip to Kenya with Rift Valley Adventures takes you to the top of Mt Kenya, a World Heritage site, across the plains cycling with giraffe, elephant and rhino and out into the Indian Ocean to surf and snorkel the warm tropical waters.

Personal development is rarely more exciting and stimulating than on one of our specially designed expeditions. Get a taste of rural Kenyan life, along with some of the most thrilling adventures and a chance to make a real difference.

Emma SummerHome to the highest mountain in Africa, a wildlife hotspot and an adventure destination to take your breath away, Tanzania is an explorers dream. Amidst this vast stretch of African savannah with its dramatic cliffs, ice-tipped equatorial mountains and exotic wildlife, participants gain a massive sense of achievement from Rift Valley Adventures’ expertly organised experiential programmes.

Concepts such as trust, responsibility, goal setting, teamwork and leadership – highly prized but rarely taught effectively in the classroom – blaze to life in the East African bush. Nobody comes back unchanged – and that’s exactly what we want!

The newest addition to our list of international school expeditions and trips.

We took one look at the awe-inspiring, everchanging countryside and were in a headspin: the cascading dunes, impressive coastline and that ‘Africa feeling’ makes Namibia our new favourite place.

In addition to having a striking array of cultures and national origins, Namibia is a photographers dream - it boasts wild seascapes, rugged mountains and endless desert.
