AD Experience
• Over 21 years in the AD and Bioresources sector
• Involved with over 120 AD projects to date:
– Feasibility – Due Diligence – Planning – Permitting – Compliance – Financing and – Trouble Shooting or
Recovery
QUBE’S History
• 2011 MOD requested a solution for Forward Operating Bases in Afghanistan
• Fuel costs over $200 per litre
Right Tech – Right Model?
I would add “Right Driver” too?
• Compliance
• Diversification
• Opportunity
• Cost Control
Feedstocks Matter
Feed stocks vary in the amount of biogas they will yield. As a comparison: • 1 tonne of maize can yield about 208 m3 biogas • 1 tonne of rich food waste can yield about 230m3 biogas • 1 tonne of cattle slurry will only yield about 20m3 biogas Because of this diversity digesters will vary in size to accommodate organic loading rates
How does this affect output and design
Size kWh Electrical
Size kWh Heat (gas/Derv equv)
Size Digesters m3
Size HRT Days
How does this affect Capital
Figures based on what can be afforded – Right Tech – 3000 tonnes per year of each feedstock – Modelling against FIT (defunct) RHI Heat, RHI GtG and RTFC – Model looks at revenue and savings, feedstocks, operational costs – Allows for 10% return and equates this to Maximum Capital that can be
deployed depending on hurdle rate of 5, 7 or 10 years
Its Small……. so so small

Right Tech – Right Model
What is our Market?
Food and Drink Industry
Agriculture
Humanitarian
Small scale food
manufacturers
Breweries and distilleries
Restaurant food waste
Supermarket and logistics
Uncovered lagoons
Open top tanks
Digestate store
Military
Emergency Sanitation
Sustainable Development
Key Drivers for Small Scale AD
• Utilise local wastes – mitigate high waste disposal
costs and reduce waste miles
• Future proof business against rising energy and
waste disposal costs
• Engaging – circular economy/ corporate
responsibility
• Use the power and heat on site to reduce energy bills
• Quick to install, non technical and no need for lots of
additional labour
• INNOVATION TO GET COSTS DOWN
Our Kit
Modular anaerobic digestion technology
providing compact biogas system packaged in
multiples of standard 20ft or 40ft shipping
containers
The rapidly deployed version of bioQUBE
designed to sanitise waste and create biogas for
energy recovery
Flexible, modular covers for lagoons or open
top tanks to collect gas and intercept rainwater.
Generate electricity and hot water from on
site biogas production
Fabric based dry digester designed for
biodegradable stackable feedstocks
• bioQUBE digesters are in either 20ft or 40ft shipping containers with ancillaries either outside the digester or housed in another container
• Digesters be stacked and “daisy-
chained” together
• Delivered to a levelled site by lorry, and craned into position - no foundations needed
• CHP to provide power and heat - electricity can be exported or used locally
• Reception hopper enables once a day ‘feeding’
• Longest part is 2m. Each quickQUBE gets wider to fit capacity rather than any taller
• Flexible hard-wearing PVC digesters
• Same biological and mechanical features as the bioQUBE
• Range between 5m3 – 100m3 internal digestion capacity
• Designed to process dry fibrous wastes such as rice straw in a batch system
• Harvest both the straw and the rice, bringing them back centrally
• Very quick to build (less than 2 weeks)
• Modular and cost effective fabric digesters
• Add value to the biogas by making various products for cooking, running generators or upgrading as a fuel for vehicles
• Create a fertiliser with the spent rice
straw and use that for the next rice crop
and medium for mushroom growing
LagoonQUBE is a flexible, removable cover
that operates as a digester,
floating on a lagoon or open top tank to collect biogas and importantly rain water, from the slurry
• Lagoon QUBE floats and is removable to
allow changing levels of slurry and
maintenance of the lagoon
• Modular Units each covering 94m2, 11.4m in diameter, hexagon shaped
• Mitigates Green House Gas emissions – biogas that is collected from the system would otherwise have been released into the atmosphere
• Rain water landing on the cover area is
captured and pumped from the cover increasing storage capacity
