Rihanna’s First and Recent Albums

Brand Identity

Rihanna here is being quite controversial, this shows she is looking quite 1980’s, rock chick style. The fact she is wearing a leather jacket may come across that she is being quite rebellious. The font here is very bland, hard to come across and very simple.

Rihanna here is looking very pop, she comes across as quite polished and hip hoppy. The font is very girly and pop styled, and her clothing is very pop, 1970’s jazz type.

What has changed??Brand Identity

Over the years of each album being released, Rihanna is showing a different message each time on her album. Over the albums Rihanna has become more self conflicted, and showing off her body more. Rihanna has ‘the figure’ which many people crave for, this will give her fans and maybe show her as an inspirational character or role model. Rihanna is representing her self as a independent, fearless, talented women.

All of Rihanna’s T-shirts either have a picture of her in the centre again showing she is her own character and her own identity, or alternatively Rihanna has a set ‘font’ which is placed at the front of the T-shirt with the letter R, this allows people to recognise that this is her Merchandise and she is representing herself.

Rihanna’s First 3 perfumes were very similar and follow the same design, however they have different colours. Rihanna’s first perfume was named fleur, this was another word for flower this shows she began innocent, lovely and a good girl, her next perfume was called rebelle, this labelled her as a rebel and at this time of her fame she was very rebellious, and this gave her that name. Rihanna’s third perfume was called nude, this represented her self as a sexually empowered women, and showed how she acted, dressed around that time. Rihanna’s ConcertsBrand Identity

In Rihanna’s ‘Diamond’ concert the colours used are very dark to begin with. Rihanna starts the concert off with a blacked out back ground and one spot light on her. During the performance a lot of white lights are

shone, this links back to her albums and her merchandise design of the colours of Blacks, Whites and Reds. Rihanna is wearing a gangsta style

baggy long top with a gold chain and some high knee boots, this is dominant again showing she is representing who she is, how she has

changed and what she can do now she is older then what she was on her first album.

Here Rihanna’s Performance again starts off in blacked out background, this shows the continuously of her colours and ‘brand identity’. Rihanna

here has represented herself as the same as 3 of her albums she has with red hair, this shows she is still sticking with her choice of colours for now.

Which also again links with brand identity.Moving up the table, Rihanna is wearing a totally different outfit to what

she wore on the concert the slide before. This shows she has become much more older, mature, more self conflicted and more sexualised,

showing she is more of an object.

Rihanna’s PostersBrand Identity

Alternatively Rihanna on her other poster she is nearly naked, this shows she isn't body shy, becoming more sexualised, she is also becoming more rebellious as she is showing off her tattoos (this isn't a normal place to have a tattoo, as her tattoo is under her boobs) and expanding the audience by male gaze. She is happy with her body.

Here Rihanna’s posters again have a dominant image of herself on the front, The font on Rihanna's posters have either her name or the well known ‘R’ that people relate her to. The fonts used on the album covers are the fonts that Rihanna uses on all of her marketing, this font is easily recognised as Rihanna’s and is noticed as her brand identity.

On one of Rihanna’s posters she is just showing her face, again being the dominant image, Rihanna is following the colour scheme of the red, she has red hair and red lips, also the ‘R’ on the poster is also red. On another poster Rihanna is sitting on the floor with a top covering her top body and shorts showing her legs, this shows Rihanna is moving up the scale becoming more self conflicted and less body shy.

This also shows she could be representing her self as a character making more of her fans and the public become more inspired and less body conscious.

Rihanna’s WebsiteBrand Identity

Rihanna’s Website now is very classy and she is representing herself as a classic Hollywood star, showing the films she has appeared in. This shows how big she is becoming and the publicity she has got.

Her website links very much to her latest album American oxygen, the colours are very bland, and black and white. Again showing class. This is showing she keeps updating her website with every song release and updating herself as a person.
