JEAN ANOUILH (Playwright) became one of the strongest personalities of the French theatre during his lifetime. Anouilh's characteristic techniques include the play within the play, flashbacks and flash forwards, and the exchange of roles. L'Hermine (performed 1932) was Anouilh's first play to be produced. Success came in 1937 with Le Voyageur sans bagage (Traveller Without Luggage), which was soon followed by La Sauvage (1938). He went on to write more than thirty more plays, including Antigone (1944) and Beckett, ou l'honneur de Die u (1959).

Other plays include A Phoenix Too Frequent ( 1946), The Boy with a Cart (1950), A Sleep of Prisoners (1951) and The Dark Is Light Enough (1954). After man y years of translating and adapting plays-including Ring Round the Moon, Duel of Angels, and Peer Gynt-Fry wrote A Yard of Sun (1962). He collaborated on several screenplays and wrote plays for both radio and television.

Our program is made possible in part by the generous contributions of the Mary Moody Northen Theatre Society membership. Society · contributions allow MMNT to provide students with resources for hands-on learning and to provide audiences with the rich production values that keep you returning to our performances year after year. Last year Theatre Society members contributed $22,000 in student scholarships, allowing us to maintain our commitment to educate a diverse group of Theater Arts students, regardless of their financial situations.

As a member of the society you'll enjoy a number of exciting benefits, including invitations to special performances and opportunities to get involved with the Theater Arts program and our students on a deeper level. Your gift may be designated to scholarships, production support or capital improvements, or you may make an unrestricted gift.
