umantis success story with RingierRingier is a multinational operating media company. 8’000 employees in 10 countries produce newspapers, magazines, web and mobile platforms, tele-vision and radio programs. With around 3’000 employees Ringier achieved a turnover of 606 million Swiss francs on it’s home market Switzerland in 2008. Founded in 1833 Ringier is managed as a fifth generation family-owned com-pany. Since September 2008 the company makes use of umantis Recruiting.

Challenge

Originally Ringier managed it’s applications exclusively on paper and in an address data bank especially created for this purpose. The dossiers were sent in paper version and each HR expert had his/her own approach. They planned themselves when and to whom the documents had to be forwarded and they had to obtain comments and evaluations as well. Delays due to holiday absences and different modes of operation let the whole process be very unclear and inefficient. Ringier expected a quality intensification and an acceleration of the management and evaluation of dossiers.

Why umantis?

Ringier was looking for a software that could cover the whole process and nevertheless was simple and flexible. The application should support the HR experts in their daily work with applications and in communication both internally and externally. umantis was able to convince at all these points and the cost-be-nefit ratio also argued for the HR software from St.Gallen. umantis is standardised and maps the internal process of Ringier very well. There-fore only few adjustments had to be underta-ken. It took only 4 months time from the idea to the implementation. Meanwhile Ringier ad-vertises job offers only with the link to umantis and the according phone number. Of once 100% of the applications in hardcopy form or in form of e-mails Ringier today receives just 5-10% this way. Ringier is positive about the technology and the philosophy of umantis and is willingly to recommend the solution.
