RINL CMD HIGHLIGHTED THE NEED TO IMBIBE

“COST CULTURE” FOR PROSPERITY --Republic Day Celebrated with Patriotic Fervor

--RINL collective have potential to deliver in difficult Times

Visakhapatnam Steel Plant joined the Nation in celebrating the 65th Republic Day today in Ukkunagaram with patriotic fervor and traditional gaiety. Sri P Madhusudan, CMD, RINL unfurled the National Flag, took the salute and inspected the guard of honour accorded by the CISF Jawans, home guards, school children of Ukkunagaram at the sprawling Trishna Grounds in

the township. The 5 S (a Japanese Work Place Management Concept) team displayed a march fast for the first time on the occasion to mark the achieving of company - wide 5S certification.

Addressing the gathering of VSP employees and their family members, Sri Madhusudan highlighted the immediate need of imbibing a “Cost Culture” to improve the margins and generate adequate surpluses to fund the future requirements and modernization drives of the Navratna Company. He said that the current year would be the most happening year in the history of RINL and with the disciplined and dedicated efforts of one and all, would climb to continuous growth. He reminded the employees of the need for the early commissioning of the new finishing mills, ramping up of production from the new Steel melt Shop, timely completion of the modernization initiatives, augmentation of power generation to meet the enhanced requirements are some of the immediate important tasks, which require total focus. He said that safety and safe working should be the prime driver of the Company’s philosophy and priority. “We have to re-orient the strategies and also to adopt innovative business approach since the volume of operations would be doubled shortly” Sri Madhusudan said. ON STEEL INDUSTRY: Sri Madhusudan said that the Steel Industry, the backbone of economic growth of a country, has been doing reasonably well with the world crude steel output crossing the one billion mark for the 10th year in succession. The global steel production in 2013 at 1.6 billion tons was up by 3.5% over the previous year and India, the 4th largest steel producer at 81.2 million tons, recorded the second highest growth at 5.1%. He concluded by expressing confidence on dedicated efforts of employees who can build a vibrant RINL brimming with prosperity.

Sri Umesh Chandra, Director (Operations), Sri B Siddhartha Kumar, IFS, CVO, First Lady of Ukkunagaram Smt Annapurna Gouri, Sri Rohit Aswkumar, Senior Commandant, CISF, Executive Directors, Senior Officers, representatives of SEA, Unions, SC&ST Association, Visteel Mahila Samiti, WIPS and large number of employees participated. School children of Ukkunagaram presented a scintillating dance performance highlighting the patriotic song “Vandematam” which reverberated the township. The CISF jawans demonstrated the capability of diffusing a crisis situation in the event of an attack, highlighted the parade.

VMS GESTURE: On the eve of Republic Day , Visteel Mahila Samiti President, Mrs Preeti Roy, Vice Presidents, Mrs Sushma Chauhan and Mrs Bindu Mohapatra and other Executive Committee members visited Desire Society, Gajuwaka, a home for HIV infected and affected children. They distributed fruits, sweets and biscuits to the children and donated provisions like rice, pulses, gram, jaggery, oil etc. Children of the home expressed gratitude for their gesture by singing patriotic songs.
