Ripon Christian Schools (RCS) is a private, non-profit organization, serving Christian families with over 700 students from preschool through 12th grade. Founded in 1928 by sixteen committed families and several churches, RCS has continued to grow and flourish. Our purpose is to provide students with the opportunity to grow in faith, develop as leaders, and be challenged to meet their full potential, while serving God and others in His world. Principal Primary Duties



The Position: Principal of Ripon Christian Upper SchoolThe Principal will be called of God and have the spiritual gift of leadership to serve and lead Ripon Christian Upper School. He/she will develop and maintain good relationships with Students, Families, and Constituents in the Ripon Christian community. The Principal will serve and report to the Superintendent of Ripon Christian Schools.

Specific responsibilities:1. Will have direct authority over staff and faculty of Ripon Christian Upper School.2. Will be in agreement with and be able to clearly communicate the school's mission, philosophy and

policies.3. Will strive to maintain a school that is honoring to Jesus Christ and is academically excellent.4. Will seek the Lord daily in prayer for wisdom and discernment in dealing with all school matters.5. Will attend meetings of the School Board, providing the board with regular reports and recommendations.6. Will seek out and evaluate curriculum that meets the needs of Ripon Christian Upper School students.

Administration:1. Will actively participate in the development and maintenance of short and long range planning for the

development of Ripon Christian Upper School.2. Will take the lead in finding and enrolling qualified students and will oversee the interviewing of students

and parents applying to Ripon Christian Upper School.

Personnel:1. Will assist in recruitment of quality faculty and staff and will be responsible for interviewing teacher

applicants and making recommendations to the Superintendent regarding staffing.2. Will promote the professional and spiritual growth of the faculty and staff through appropriate in-service

training and personal mentoring.3. Will hold regular faculty meetings to keep teachers informed and professionally developed.4. Will be responsible for exercising supervision over all teachers and will make personal evaluations of

teachers and staff in accordance with school guidelines.

Education/Experience:1. Masters degree preferred.2. Demonstrated leadership successes in previous ministries, Christian schools or business.

Other skills/abilities:1. Commitment to Reformed theology and to a Biblical world and life view.2. The successful candidate will attend one of the eight supporting/sponsoring churches of RCS.

Upper School Principal Characteristics:The Upper School Principal is responsible for all daily operations and serves under the authority of the RCS Superintendent. The Upper School Principal must have an obvious love for Christ, faculty/staff, students as well as the families of RCS.

Primary Characteristics:1. Oral communication: The Principal will be the “face” of Ripon Christian Upper School and must have excellentoral communication skills as he interacts with a wide variety of individuals: Board, parents, teachers, staff, students,and potential parents.

2. Mission: The principal must embrace the mission of the school and be able to communicate it to the students,faculty and the community.

3. Leadership: The Principal must inspire teachers, parents, and staff and empower individuals,determinepriorities and employ an organizational style where the gifts and skills of all staff are well utilized.

4. Respect: The Principal should have the respect of students, faculty, staff and parents. and exhibit a winsomecharacter that attracts teachers, students and parents to the school.

5. Teacher development: The Principal should have the ability and skills to develop teachers to integrate theReformed Christian worldview into their classroom and to advance their ability to teach.
