April 28, 2019 2nd Sunday of Easter SECOND COLLECTION TODAY The second collection today is for the Catholic Home Missions Appeal. Please be generous. A MESSAGE FROM BISHOP COTTA “He is Risen! He has truly Risen!!” Wishing all a Blessed and Glorious Easter Season! As we acknowledge the terrible terrorist attack in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday, let us pray for our brothers and sisters who lost their lives and were injured in these horrendous bombings. As we pray for them, may the survivors and their families find strength in the Risen Lord. Also, As we celebrate the Octave of Easter, I would like to congratulate all of you, our brothers and sisters, who have joined the Church on the Easter Vigil. May the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist continue to be your strength as you follow the Risen Jesus in your life. Happy Easter! In the Peace of Christ, Bishop Cotta. DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY—APRIL 28th Join us in Praying the Divine Mercy Novena Starting Good Friday. The Lord promises, "By this Novena I will grant every possible grace to souls." We can pray this novena for our own personal intentions or we can offer it together with the Novena to Divine Mercy for the intentions dictated by our Lord to Saint Faustina. The Novena will start after the Good Friday Liturgy in the Church. From Saturday, April 20th to Saturday, April 27th, it will be prayed at 3:00PM at the Holy Angels Chapel. On Divine Mercy Sunday, April 28th, we will end the Novena with Benediction and praying the Chaplet at 3:00PM in the Church. Afterwards we will celebrate Fr. Raju's birthday with a potluck in the hall immediately following. FR. RAJU BIRTHDAY POT-LUCK All Are Invited-Father Raju's Birthday Party along with Divine Mercy Sunday on April 28th. Please join us in the church at 3:00PM for Benediction and the praying of the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Immediately following we will have a Potluck Birthday Celebration for Father Raju in the hall. Please bring your favorite main dish along with a salad or dessert. Water and coffee will be provided, feel free to bring your own beverages. There will be a basket to put any birthday wishes you have for Father. MASS WITH ANOINTING EVERY FIRST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH Join Fr. Raju every 1st Friday of the month for physical, emotional or spiritual healing at 8:00AM at the Holy Angels Chapel for Mass and Anointing of the sick. PRAY FOR VOCATIONS Anyone wishing to take the new Chalice home to pray for Vocations needs to call the Parish Office (838-2133) to schedule with the secretary.
CHILD ABUSE AWARENESS MONTH—DID YOU KNOW? Safe Environment training is taking place in all dioceses of the United States. Over 2 million clergy, employees, and volunteers have been trained to prevent and respond to the abuse of children. MERCY IN ACTION Come join Mercy in Action Members on the 1st Tuesday of every month (May 7th) by praying the Rosary outside the abortion center at 2030 Coffee Road in Modesto.
