Hymn 202:1-2: Welcome, Happy Morning!

Hymn 203: Morning Breaks Upon the Tomb

Hymn 799 (Worship Supplement): This is the Feast of Victory

Confession of faith: Luther’s Large Catechism

Let this then be the sum of this article: the little word Lord means simply the same as Redeemer. It means the One who has brought us from Satan to God, from death to life, from sin to righteousness, and who preserves us in the same.

But all the points that follow in this article serve no other purpose than to explain and express this redemption. They explain how and by whom it was accomplished. They explain how much it cost Him and what He spent and risked so that He might win us and bring us under His dominion. It explains that He became man, was conceived and born without sin, from the Holy Spirit and from the virgin Mary, so that He might overcome sin.

Further, it explains that He suffered, died, and was buried so that He might make satisfaction for me and pay what I owe, not with silver or gold, but with His own precious blood. And He did all this in order to become my Lord….

After that He rose again from the dead, swallowed up and devoured death, and finally ascended into heaven and assumed the government at the Father’s right hand.

He did these things so that the devil and all powers must be subject to Him and lie at His feet until finally, at the Last Day, He will completely divide and separate us from the wicked world, the devil, death, sin, and such….

Yes, the entire Gospel that we preach is based on this point, that we properly understand this article as that upon which our salvation and all our happiness rests. Amen.

The Second Lesson: In the Garden

The Third Lesson: On the Road to Emmaus

The Fourth Lesson: Behind Closed Doors

Politics and the Bible Do you shy away from talking about politics? Bringing up an election in conversation or

even talking about voting in general can seem to be a surefire way to start an argument. Yet we know that government is intended

by God to be a blessing in our lives, and in our system of government we have a voice. But where does politics fit into the

Christian’s life and worldview? We will be discussing that in our Wednesday Bible class beginning this week. We are going to try

a remote class via Zoom conferencing. To participate send an email to [email protected] and by return mail you’ll receive

instructions for logging in at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Peace in a pandemic A new five-minute video has been posted to clclutheran.org. Produced by Pastor Sam

Rodebaugh of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Winterhaven, FL, it is a very comforting Christian perspective of the Covid-19

pandemic. Feel free to share this with family and friends.

From the Bd. of Elders The Messiah Board of Elders appreciates your faithfulness in your offering

contributions. We have multiple ways to offer our thanks to the Lord through these offerings. You can drop off or mail offerings to

the church. Another suggestion is to use your banking institution's electronic bill paying service. To do this, go to your bank or

CLC news: The CLC Board of Regents has appointed Pastor Mark Weis to serve as the Dean of Students at Immanuel

Lutheran High School and College. He will fill the remainder of the term vacated by Mr. Gus Falkenberg who is stepping down at

the end of this academic year so that he can better focus on his role as the boys dormitory supervisor. We thank Gus for serving

faithfully in this capacity. The Dean of Students' main concern is the high school students' and collegians' spiritual and physical

well-being while at Immanuel.
