RISING SUN Edition Vol. 27 - #5 It’s the fourth race of the 2013 Powerboat Superleague season and we’re in Rising Sun, Indiana. Welcome to a new venue and an incredible place for powerboat racing. What makes this location perfect? Easy answer: the people who loved the idea of bringing back racing to their community and gave the 14-year run of A Roar of Thunder a new place to call home. Rising Sun and it’s spectacular waterfront will host the 15th edition of Thunder offering the tradition of tunnel boat racing as well as some innovative additions. This event will be the host for the Superleague tunnel boats but also a contingent of Vintage and Historic hydros and the Inboard category’s Grand National Hydros and Jet Ski shows with Typhoon Tommy and Rambo Rosie. There is room for everyone since this is one of the best facilities we have seen. Extra large paved pit area, two large launch ramps – one for tunnel boats and one as a base for crane operations for the Vintage and Grand Nationals. With the hard work of the Rising Sun Committee and special thanks to Marsha, powerboat racing is on the fast track and everyone is eagerly waiting for the return of powerboat racing to one of its historic homes – Rising Sun, Indiana. RISING SUN Edition Vol. 27 - #5

It’s the fourth race of the 2013 Powerboat Superleague season and we’re in

Rising Sun, Indiana. Welcome to a new venue and an incredible place for powerboat racing. What makes this location perfect? Easy answer: the people who loved the idea of bringing back racing to their community and gave the 14-year run of A Roar of Thunder a new place to call home. Rising Sun and it’s spectacular waterfront will host

the 15th edition of Thunder offering the tradition of tunnel boat racing as well as some innovative additions. Extra large paved pit area, two large launch

ramps – one for tunnel boats and one as a base for crane operations for the Vintage and Grand Nationals.

With the hard work of the Rising Sun Committee and special thanks to Marsha, powerboat racing is on the fast track and everyone is eagerly waiting for the return of powerboat racing to one of its historic homes – Rising Sun, Indiana.

Registration and safety inspection will start on Friday, August 16, from 1 pm to 6 pm in the pit area of the race site. Race staff officials will be on hand to park your rigs. If you have special requests, if you need to pit next to a specific team, please let us know in advance, it helps with planning and pit layout. Early arrivals can park in the pit area but we need to know before you arrive. Full days of racing and some testing are slated for all classes.

Take time to enjoy the Rising Sun Committee’s hospitality and remember to say “thanks.” Detailed race information – everything that you need to know about racing in

Rising Sun during the 15th edition of A Roar of Thunder is included throughout this Gazette. Get ready to CRANK IT UP with Powerboat Superleague.

2013 Superleague Rules All 2013 Powerboat Superleague Racing, High-Points Calculation and Yellow Card Rules

are posted to the Superleague web site. If you are not a member and do not plan to join Superleague (and that’s OK) keep in mind that you must still comply with our rules. Remember we use the current APBA and OPC general, racing and safety rules – the Superleague and yellow card rules strengthen existing

APBA regulations. Our high-point computations cover only series high-points and are not used to determine the finish of any heat or final. APBA scoring rules are followed to the letter when we determine the position of drivers: 1) if a heat must be restarted 2) to

determine positions at the conclusion of each heat/final and 3) to compute the overall score/position when combining two or more groups. Please read your 2013 APBA/OPC general rules, racing rules and safety rules. This is important if you are going to protest a call. Remember to bring your rulebook, the rule reference and your driver’s rep with you for a rule discussion with any official.
