SALARY: £17,500 PERFORMANCE RELATED PAY REVIEWS WILL BE SCHEDULED ANNUALLY

    HOW TO APPLY:

Please submit a CV and cover letter outlining why this role is right for you, to [email protected], with subject header ‘Studio Manager 2019’.

Interviews will be scheduled in December and the role would start in January. The successful applicant would receive training until the end of March.

RISOTTO is Scotland’s leading risograph print specialist and stationery company.

We are looking for a dedicated and positive individual who can champion all production operations, whilst maintaining RISOTTO’s established reputation and contributing to the studio’s future growth.

  • The Role: Studio Manager and Print Technician

In this role you will run all aspects of the Glasgow based production studio; manage interns, print client

projects as well as RISOTTO products, manage shop orders, make time to think strategically in refining

services, and implementing development (sourcing new equipment, planning workshops etc.).

    Key Activities Include:

    • General Admin + Studio Maintenance

    • Print Services

    • Shop Production and dispatch

    • Wholesale production + distribution

    • RISO CLUB management (subscription) + Website Updates

    • Workshop delivery (once a month)

    • Intern management

    • PopUp Events + Fairs (once a year)

A day in the studio will comprise an assortment of the above. Often there are many jobs and tasks

happening simultaneously, each requiring the same attention and quality of delivery. It is crucial that

the person filling the position is self motivated and excited by the variety of tackling lots of different

    roles and responsibilities.

Although you will work closely with me, I’m often away from the studio, so you will be required to work

independently, managing your time, our projects, and the intern(s).

The position is demanding, but equally has a lot to offer:

    • Continual learning opportunities about the riso and production processes

    • Access to the studio’s facilities and resources

    • Flexible working hours, where you can manage your own schedule

    • Travel opportunities with workshops and events

    • Active contributor to Glasgow’s art scene and the wider riso community

    You should apply if…

…you enjoy both the organisational aspects of managing the studio operations, as well as working with

your hands producing products and delivering workshops.

…you are excited by the prospect of working for a small studio and the learning opportunities and

    growth this can offer you.

…you enjoy working independently, as well as thrive in social situations, such as workshops or as an

    ambassador at pop up events.

We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate the following industry skills:

    • A keen eye for detail to support the needs and standards of the creative sector

    • Knowledge of print production in general and an understanding of creative processes

    • Knowledge of the risograph process and culture

    • Knowledge of the Adobe Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator) and the ability to check and create colour

    separations and proof artwork files

If you have limited industry skills, we may be able to offer specific training to accommodate.

  • ADDITIONAL INFO + KEY ACTIVITIES (EXPANDED):

Our Risograph Print Services:The risograph is a creative, affordable and sustainable printing method. We regularly print posters, art prints, invitations and books for the creative industries. We aim to offer customers specialist and bespoke services, whilst building on our existing reputation for expert knowledge, quality and care.

Our Shop Products:Best-known for our vibrant calendars, the studio produces all stationery products in-house. We sell direct to customers through our online shop, as well as to international wholesale stockists that include Liberty London, The Conran Shop and Selfridges.

General Admin + Studio Maintenance: Answering emails, invoicing customers, managing supplies (paper, ink, packaging), organising the servicing of equipment, troubleshooting technical issues, keeping a clean and organised workspace.

Print Services: To oversee all print jobs and ensure they are executed professionally, with precision and skill. This will include communicating with enquiries, quoting for jobs, preparing artwork for print and overseeing the production and delivery.

Shop Production and dispatch: To regularly produce RISOTTO’s stationery products. Whether it’s printing notebooks, packaging calendars or shipping orders. Keeping an eye on current stock levels, to ensure we always have sufficient supplies to meet online orders.

Wholesale production + distribution: Over the last year, the wholesale aspect of the studio has grown, which means larger product orders are placed throughout the year. These require samples to be sent, liaison with new and existing retailers, and management of their distribution.

RISO CLUB + Website Updates (once a month): Our RISO CLUB print subscription is now in it’s second year. You will be responsible for printing these in advance and shipping these monthly to our members. The finished prints then need scanned and edited in preparation for the online product listing. Our website and online shop is managed through Wordpress and WooCommerce. You will be able manage online orders, updates and subscriptions from here.

Workshop delivery (once a month): Workshops are scheduled throughout the year; opening access to our facilities, and allowing people to experiment first hand with the print process. Education is an important part of our ethos, and the creative development that the risograph process facilitates, allows us to maintain a community-focused approach. You will be required to schedule, promote and deliver the workshops.

Intern management: We receive between 5-10 of internship applications each month. It is your responsibility to interview, appoint and schedule the various 8-12 week internships throughout the year. The intern’s role is to assist you in all the studio’s production tasks. Each intern’s skills and interest will vary, so being able to adapt to their strengths, and assign tailored tasks is key.

PopUp Events + Fairs (once a year): In the lead up to Christmas, there are pop-up events that we attend. This is an opportunity for customers to purchase our collection direct. Preparation for these includes printing prices and promotion, organising the stock and display, transporting everything and setting up on site. At these short but intensive events, we are engaging with potential customers, answering questions, discussing products and catching up with peers.

The director of this company is Gabriella Marcella and her responsibilities include; Creative Direction, Design, Special Projects, Marketing, and Finance.
