This month sees the launch of our exclusive footwear collaboration with mega-blogger Sandra Hagelstam of 5 Inch & UpFinnish born Sandra has reached new heights in

her career as a fashion blogger. Just four years ago

whilst studying Design at the prestigious London

College of Fashion, she launched 5 Inch & Up – a

blog inspired by her love of stilettos. 5 Inch and Up

showcases Sandra’s inimitable, chic style and over

the years has generated thousands of fans around

the world. Sandra now boasts an impressive social

CV with 53,000 Instagram followers and over 14,000

Twitter followers.

Her flare for design is nothing new. A few months

into studying her degree, Sandra joined our very own

design team at River Island Head Office where she

worked as an intern on our footwear department.

Four years later, she has witnessed her very own six-

piece capsule collection come to life.

True to Sandra’s signature style, the collection, which

draws inspiration from fetish and feminine Victoriana,

features clean lines, a muted colour palette and fine

detailing. Over the knee boots and court shoes are

finished with mock lacing, whilst slick black ponyskin

mules and ankle boots in snake and mock croc offer

texture and add interest to the unique styles. We

can’t wait to get our feet in these!

“I’ve aimed to design a powerful and seductive

collection for strong women who understand the

importance of a simplified statement shoe and I’m

eager to see how women will be styling the range. “

Harley Viera-Newton. If you haven’t heard this name before, you’ll want

to Google it right now. The British born model and DJ has taken the

fashion and music scene by storm in London, New York and LA, and can

often be found seated next to BFF Alexa Chung on the FROW. After

filming our latest Masterclass with the British sensation, we grabbed five

minutes to talk New York style, music and party dressing!

What’s inspiring your style right now?

I’m always inspired when I travel, by the people I see on the streets who

go about their day looking so great, yet effortless. This month I’ve been

all over; London, Paris, Barcelona... there’s endless inspiration there!

You’ve filmed a Masterclass for us, ‘My London’. Where’s your favourite

place to spend time in the city?

I really love the British Museum, as an Egyptology major it’s a real Mecca.

And there are always other incredible exhibitions that pass through.

How does New York street style differ to London?

They aren’t necessarily all that different, there’s a very similar

effortlessness and on-the-go vibe about both. But sometimes London

style will have a more classic element that pulls it together like a great

trench coat or a more tailored jacket.

What’s on your Christmas party playlist?

I actually made a Christmas playlist with my boyfriend last year which

has all of our all-time favourites on it. It’s called ‘Homefriends Christmas’

and it’s available to download on my website!

What’s your go-to beauty look?

During the day I opt for a more natural look, fresh skin with a lip tint. But

at night I love a black cat eye and a bold red lip - it’s a makeup look that

goes with absolutely everything.

As a model and DJ, how would you say music and fashion influence

each other?

Music and fashion have influenced each other forever - they play off

each other and inspire each other. When you put together music for a

runway show, your selections are based on the vibe of the clothes and

the story of the collection, while at the same time an album or song can

be the designer’s inspiration for the whole season.

Do you have a role model?

My mum!
