Free and open to the public, this pro-gram meets several times per week
during the school year and throughmuch of the summer. Students ofall ages drop by for math tutoring, try hands-on activities, or work on anindependent project. This programserves both students who need extrasupport and students who love math
and want to learn more.
Math Studio
We offer weekly sessions for stu-dents at several after-school pro-grams. Math Studio consists of aseries of hands-on investigations intodifferent aspects of a single topic.
However, activities are designed withthe understanding that students maynot be able to attend all sessions.
Family Math Activities
Family Math activities allow elementary schoolstudents and their families to enjoy a fun mathactivity together. These activities are free
and are typically offered on Sunday afternoons. Each Family Math topic is self-contained andlasts 30 minutes to an hour.
Custom Workshops / EventsWe design math workshops and events forgroups of all ages. We offer professional devel-opment for teachers, bring hands-on math ac-tivities to classrooms, train counselors to leadcamp activities, coordinate fairs for schools, or-ganize badge days for scout groups, and run
activity booths during festivals.
Math Circles
Math Circles are for students wholike math and want an extra chal-lenge. These enrichment classes fo-
cus on particular topics such as digi-tal electronics, mathematical origami,or fractal geometry. These in-depthinvestigations are for serious studentswho are able to attend most or all ofthe classes in a series. We typicallyhold a few Math Circles each year.
Math Circle Institute
Each summer, we co-organize a week-long workshop for mathematicians
and teachers from around the coun-try who are interested in leadingmath enrichment programs. Bob andEllen Kaplan of the Boston Math Cir-cle demonstrate a collegial approachto teaching that involves children inthe exploration of deep mathematicalideas. Several local teachers join us
each summer. In the afternoon, chil-dren of all ages join Math Circles ledby adult participants.
