The annual commencement exercises of the Riverhead High School will be held on Sunday afternoon, June 27, at 4 p.m. This is the first graduating class to complete a full four years in the new high school building. Therefore, this will be the initial class to conduct a graduation ceremony at the new high school site. The exercises will take place on the east campus parking area. There are no reservations necessary for the out-of-doors program. Should weather condi- tions necessitate moving in- doors, only those with reserved tickets will be admitted to the high school gymnasium. This being the Bicentennial year, the theme of the cere- monies will center around our n a t i o n ’s 200th birthday. The traditional farewell remarks will be made by Valedictorian Ste- phen Wolborsky, Salutatorian Karen Pierzchanowski and third ranking student Laverne Ten- nenberg. The high school band, under the direction of Charles Cardona, will perform an ap- propriate musical offering for the occasion. The Invocation will be given by Rabbi Harry Lazaras of Temple Israel in Riverhead. The Benediction will be given by Father Andrew Gallagher of St. John’s R.C. Church. The presi- dent of the t)oard of education, Mrs. Margaret W. Tooker, will present the diplomas to the graduates. High school principal Nathaniel Shaffran will an- nounce the awards and scholar- ships and then present the class. The class of 1976 has some 317 eligible graduates; the larg- est in its history. Over 56 percent of the class is planning to continue their education be- yond high school. They are entering colleges, nursing schools and technical institutes ranging from the Canadian bor- der to Florida, and as far away as England and Italy.
