Can you believe that we’re already into the second quarter of 2008?? The momentum for the Roadrunner Region is strong, as usual, and we have a very full calendar ahead of us. At the beginning of March, we had a very informative tech session on how to inspect your car for our autocrosses, the New Members’ Social in mid-March was a huge success, PCA Instructor training a week later, and we got the Die Serie started with the annual Weather-Be-Damned series opener near the end of the month. In June, about 30 people showed up at Porsche of Albuquerque to meet Peter Schutz, former president of Porsche AG, and we were treated to interesting stories from his days at Porsche. On the 12th, the Meet and Greet at Ribs in Cedar Crest was a big hit with several members, Die Serie #2 in Farmington featured some fun practice on Saturday and even funner racing on Sunday, and a driving tour led by Bob and Patricia Blackwell will happen on the 26th. Delicious food, racing, and touring – what could be better?? Speaking of the New Members’ Social, I had the wonderful opportunity to chat with some of the newest Roadrunners. In fact, one guy showed up with his brand new Speed Yellow 911 – fresh from the Porsche of Albuquerque parking lot! We also had some guests from San Diego and I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of Victor and Andrea Wild, as they are long-time Porsche owners and part-time Santa Fe residents. Jim Caswell showed up in his beautiful Carmona Red Cayman S and generously offered to give me a ride (so that I would not get any drool on the paint). Jim and his wife have owned different Porsches over many years and he told me that they’re very pleased with their new addition. During the course of the late afternoon/early evening, everyone got a chance to know each other in a casual setting and I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of the new members at our upcoming events. One of the consistent things that I’ve heard

from many Roadrunners, new and seasoned, is that our region enjoys the warmest camaraderie among its members. And that camaraderie is present, no matter what year and model of Porsche you drive. I know that life’s ups and downs sometimes make it difficult to be friendly all the time, but I think for the most part, everyone enjoys getting together with one another for friendly competition, sharing a delicious meal, or to view some of the beautiful scenery that New Mexico has to offer. We’ve received compliments from out-of-state people who have attended Fiesta del Porsche and we know that our welcoming attitude brings them back year after year. I’ve got to work on remembering names when I meet someone new, but one thing’s for sure: I can usually remember the color and model of Porsche that they drive! It reminds me of when I used to take my German shepherd to dog training classes in California. I had to be reminded of someone’s name, but I could usually associate that person with the breed of dog that they owned. So if I call you “Arctic Silver Boxster S”, please don’t get offended!

Page 6 Roadrunner Ramblings June 2008

The highest compliment I can receive is the referral of friends and family. Thank you for your trust.

Remember When?Remember When? From the Archives of the Roadrunner Ramblings

25 Years Ago: On the cover were the many beautiful Porsches that graced the Plaza parking in Santa Fe during Fiesta del Porsche. President Bernie Butterfield started his address appropriately: Porsche are for DRIVING. That’s still true. He also thanked everyone who helped to make the event a success. The ad was in for a July version of the Doc Long’s Picnic.

Looking through the results from that year’s Fiesta, it’s amazing how many folks are still active with the region 25 years later. June Reed of Gallup wrote a great piece about her “first Fiesta.” It sounds like a great time. Still is....15 Years Ago: President Mary Hanna couldn’t write her column because she was on her way to Jamaica for a well-deserved vacation. Editor Tom Leavitt wrote about all the fun that was had by those folks who attended the Roswell autocross. Some guy named Bill Walker had the

fastest time (by 4 seconds!). Imagine that....Included in the “new members” section were James and Linda Wolcott. Hey, they’re still here! David Gaunt wrote a great piece called “the Radar Detector Game”. I wonder what the score is now??? Plans were in the works for Porsche Parade at Sun Valley. Treasurer Bill Oaks reported the club to be in good shape. 5 Years Ago: The cover had scenes from the Doc Long’s pic-a-nic. Looks like there was some great food. Bob Blackwell was selling some swaybars and a whole bunch of other stuff from his 968.

It’s a race car, no a street car, no a race car, no a ....President Don Vichick’s presidential address was short and sweet. Drive your car! Social Chair Melissa Merhege’s article described the great time everyone had at the Durango weekend. Everyone was getting ready for the Corrales Roundup. Hee-hawwwww. The New Mexico Porsche community was having a great summer!

Welcome toThe Club!

WelcometoThe Club!

What do we do in the Porsche Club? First timers often want to know: when I join the Porsche Club...what do we do? We know that we get a glossy magazine called Porsche Panorama that shows lots of folks with bright and shiny cars. We see lots of tech-nical articles, some of which go way over our heads. And we’ve just gotten this new club which tells us that we’ve “made it” in modern society. But...then what?

Not to worry. That’s probably the most-asked question of all new PCA members. It’s almost as if we’ve joined a club that we think might be too good for us....

Fear not. Porsche Club of America members -- and especially Roadrunner Region members -- are well known for friendliness, helpfulness. We’re a diverse region with members who have all kinds of interests. Maybe you’re just into 356’s, those earliest of Porsches, many of whose owner consider them to be the only “real” Porsches. Maybe you’re into high-performance driving or even racing. Maybe you just like owning one of the most technically advanced and most coveted cars in the world because...well, it’s cool to own one.

That’s OK. Our members cover all those bases. Don’t be afraid. Come to an event. Show us your car. Intro-duce yourself. Chances are that you’ll meet up with someone whose interest in Porsche is similar to yours. Sure, it might take awhile. But everything good always does.

We had a great variety of social events, driving tours, tech-sessions, and a competitive autocross series. If you love Porsches, come join us. We’ll get you headed in the right direction.

PCA Escape 2008: Journey to the Land of EnchantmentPlans are moving forward, registration is filling up.

As most of you know by now, The Roadrun-ner Region was awarded a national event called Es-cape by the PCA at last summer’s Parade in San Di-ego. Escape is the “alternative event to Parade” that allows those folks who don’t want to make the trip to the “other coast” each year for Parade. Designed as a non-competitive event (no white-gloved concours judges, no intense autocross course inspections, no relationship wrecking rally arguments), Escape is just that, an opportunity to escape from all the day-to-day hassles and go somewhere fun to share your love of Porsche with great friends who are like minded. Making the pitch for that kind of event was a no-brainer for the Roadrunner Region and a no-brain-

er for those PCA National Figures who have been to one of our Fiestas del Porsche over the years. The fact is: the Roadrunner Region is well-known na-tionwide for throwing great parties and leading great drive-outs. How could it not be? We live in the Land of Enchantment. When then Zone Rep Howard Burr an-nounced the concept at the Zone 9 meeting in the winter of 2005, John and Elaine Rheinschmidt and Sean Cridland looked at each other with silent as-sent: this is right up our alley! We’ve already led drives through the Jemez, out to Acoma, down to the VLA, up the east side of the Sandias to Santa Fe, out to Chimayo, up to Taos and so on and so on and so on.

A team including Sean Cridland, Sandra One Feather, Liz Shaw, Steven Stacy, and Zachary Maynes made the pitch and it was a unanimous ap-proval for Escape. Long-time Roadrunner Region leapt at the chance to chair a national event and it was a done deal! The dots were all there, it was only a matter of connecting them. Starting back in January, Doug Brosveen has presided over a number of meetings to get things going, pull all the people together and to get all the tours, accommodations, and dinner venues together. Kathleen Lennon, from the Alpine Mountain Region and a renowned tour organizer with husband Chris, is now the national press secretary for PCA and has taken up the cause to make sure we get the most and best possible press coverage of our first big na-tional event. Kate Rivera has constructed a fantastic website for the event to keep everyone up to speed on what’s happening and to encourage on-line reg-istration. Liz Shaw, working closely with Doug Bros-veen has set up our on-line registration and a whole team of roadrunners have been out driving around the state mapping out the tours and making reser-vations at restaurants along the way. There are all kinds of tours, even an offroad one for the Cayenne crew (not to worry Goldilocks, this one is not too hot and not too cold, but just right!!!). Besides a full schedule of tours reaching out from the Uptown Marriott hotel just off of I-40 at Louisiana, there is an opening night show-and-shine car show at the Tanoan Country Club, complete with great food and libation on Thursday, September 18. Friday night will be a fantastic dinner event at the Anderson-Abruzzo Balloon Museum, and Saturday

will close out official festivities with a farewell banquet at the Marriott. Sunday, September 21 will be an un-official day when all of our visitors can either go back to visit favorite places or make the trip to somewhere they didn’t have time to make it to during the action-packed weekend. What’s really great about taking on Escape 2008: Journey to the Land of Enchantment is that it is the fruition of many people’s efforts going all the way back to the founding of the region. Everyone who has ever driven the roads of New Mexico knows that we have some of the best drives and most interesting locales of any state in the country. New Mexico is rife with Route 66 lore and scenery. Stretching all the way back to the founding of the region in 1967, everyone has known that we have something worth sharing with the rest of the country. Fiesta del Porsche proved that. Over the years we’ve had visitors from all over the place and many from the national PCA office who’ve oft-repeated the man-tra: The Roadrunners know how to put on a GREAT event. When I first came to the region, many of the veteran members often said that we need to consider making a pitch for a national level event. Well, that time is here. We’ve made it onto the Big stage and our time is looming up in the not-so-distant future. Doug Brosveen and his team have worked incredibly hard to organize the event and all the steps leading up to it. We’ve been getting registrations from ALL over the country and have several PCA national of-ficers already signed up. Though we are the fourth of the Escapes, we may well be the one that puts Escape on the map in PCA cultural terms. So what about you? Have you registered yet? Why not. Go right now to http://escape.pca.org and get yourself signed up. We’d love to see you there with us this fall.

Tales of the Die SeriePaul Dodd Dominates, but an Army of Boxsters are Hot on His Tailpipe.

By now we’re well into the Roadrunner Re-gion’s summer autocross series the Die (pronounced dee, because it’s a German word) Serie. But if we look back into some of those bitterly cold mornings we had down in Belen back in January, February, and March, it’s just true that the writing was on the wall. Paul Dodd has developed his talent and his car another degree or two higher and no one who isn’t driving a dedicat-ed race-car or a well-driven Corvette can touch him. Whether it’s the set-up he’s found or the use of the Traqmate system or both, the already good driver has become the class of the field. That being said, the major movement of the year seems to be the march of the Boxsters. Everyone has always known that a small, lightweight, relatively well-powered car with great handling and balance would be a force to reckon with on an autocross course. All that was needed was to light a fire under some of those folks. Down in Belen about a year and a half ago Brian Leduc got into Jim Edison’s Boxster 2.5 and em-barrassed everyone his first time in the car! Yeah, sure, it was a little embarrassing for Jim that day, but it woke him and all the rest of the Boxster drivers up enough so that now all those former lackadaisical weekenders are burning up the course and killing cones with great gus-to and panache...and embarrassing everyone else who used to be considered a hotshoe, this writer included!

And many of them on plain vanilla street tires! Jim Edison has picked up his game consid-erably and even sprung for some “stickies,” making him lightning fast. Benny de la Cruz, John Davis, and Bill Guyre have all upped their games considerably, and Dennis Ledbetter and Judy Harger keep getting faster and faster. Then throw into the mix the formerly “washed-up” (his own confession) Bill Oaks shows

back up after ditching his 944 turbo with a Boxster and immediately smokes many of his rivals by leaps and bounds and you have to wonder if there isn’t some-thing to the littlest of the Porsches. That’s not to say that there haven’t been other fast cars and drivers. Last year’s Most Improved driv-er, Kirk Maurer, continues to show speed and driving ability with his 996tt the “Yellow Peril.” Brian Leduc is always fast when he’s around, Porsche defector Jo-seph Roybal, now in his Lotus Exige S, is getting faster and faster and faster. Though everyone knows they’re fast, the 964 drivers haven’t quite found their pace from last year yet, except for Liz Shaw, who seems to be getting faster and faster. Must be those new seats! Jo Irwin is coming to grips with that beautiful 993 turbo and Judy Harger is getting the hang of things with the banana colored Boxster she shares with Benny de la Cruz. Though the DS #4 event at Hollywood Casino was cancelled because of a scheduling conflict (theirs, not

ours), we’re headed into the next couple of events with a very enthusiastic group of autocrossers who are just aching to shave off more tenths, tilt many more cones and share in the camaraderie of this great series. Though we talk about competition, everyone involved is really in it for the fun and friendship. It’s really been great to see a new group of people come out in the last couple of years with all these great new cars. And, especially, to see everyone pitch in to make the events happen. We’ve had many new organizing sponsors this year. And... Just as last year, The Die Serie is sponsored by Porsche of Albuquerque and Maurer’s Collision, who generously contribute our end of year trophies. Thanks to EVERYONE involved!

An Interview with David Baker

The Managing Partner of Porsche of Albuquerque talks about his

Business Philosophy, the World of Porsche and Porsche of Albuquer-

que’s Support of the Region.

Tell us a little about your personal background. I’m originally from central Texas and went to school and college in Texas and have been married to my wife for about 15 years. I have three children: a boy and two girls and I came to New Mexico with another brand auto sales group. I’ve worked mostly in mid-line domestic and import auto-sales. I got into sales paying my way through college by selling TVs and stereos in a depart-ment store and discovered that I was good at sales and that I liked doing it. I had a customer looking for a $50 boom box and I sold him a $1000 stereo system. It turns out he had just started in the car-dealer business and he wanted to hire me. How did you get into the car industry? It was that experience that made me realize that I could sell cars. When my wife and I decided to get married I needed a job where I could make good money. We sat down one morning at breakfast and I opened the paper for the want ads and there was a good opportunity to make some money. But I didn’t really think of it as a “real

job” at first. But it worked out that I got three job offers and took the best one. When I got my first pay check I told my wife-to-be that I had found a “real job.” I’ve always been a salesman whether I was mowing lawns, working in restaurants, or in the automobile industry. How did you get involved with the Porsche end of the business?About three years ago, while I was the General Manag-er at another auto-franchise in Albuquerque, I started to get “recruited.” At first, I didn’t think I was professionally ready to do it. I put off the calls for a couple of years. But eventually I felt that I had gained enough experience that I was ready to make the next step in my career and I was ready. I was approached by a few dealer groups and the opportunity for this fell in my lap at just the right time and it was a good match in terms of our geograph-ic, family, and lifestyle backgrounds. The people I work with at the ownership level and I get along well and it’s been a great experience from the time I started. What did you discover about the Porsche market that’s different from your previous auto-industry experiences? The biggest difference I find is not so much with the market as it is with the customer. For the first 12 years of my automotive career I always told people that I was in the people business and automobiles just happened to be the commodity. But when you get to the Porsche world, you start to think a little bit differently. Porsche has a “reputation.” It shifts your thinking a little bit. Porsche owners are enthusiastic. It’s the American love affair with a car, but it’s a German engineered car. Ex-cept for the Corvette, the American love affair with do-mestic cars is almost gone. There’s just not that much to be passionate about. The biggest difference is the passion for the brand. Though I’ve always been aware in a professional sense about brand-imaging, it wasn’t

Page 26 Roadrunner Ramblings June 2008

Page 27 Roadrunner Ramblings June 2008

until I came to Porsche that I got a good understanding of the power of brand imaging that Porsche has. It’s a love from the customer of the car that makes Porsche so special in the market. But, given the nature of the car, how could you not be passionate about a Porsche. Just drive one one time and you know. It’s more than just transportation or a depreciable commodity. It’s a lifestyle. What is your business philosophy and has it changed since you’ve been involved with the Porsche market? My philosophy has always been take care of the cus-tomer and everything else will take care of itself. Obvi-ously there are challenges and the customer percep-tion of what it means to be taken care of has changed over the years. It’s a business where we need to have much more business acumen to survive. We’ve got to be car enthusiasts and good business people. Thirty years ago the car industry made money despite itself. That doesn’t happen in today’s world. But it still goes back to where I started, you’ve got to take good care of and build a relationship with the customer. We want to make good friendships with our customers. At the end of the day, who would you rather deal with? A friend or a stranger? More and more I’m able to be on a first name basis with my customers and work with them one on one. That’s what I enjoy most about this business. Working in a big domestic car dealer where you sell 500 cars in a month, you don’t get to build the same type of relationships we do here in a specialty store like Porsche, Mercedes, and Audi of Albuquerque. I like be-ing able to recognize my customers. You’ve been a big supporter of the Roadrunner Re-gion. How does that fit in with your business phi-losophy?As we’ve talked about many times, who’s the biggest enthusiast of the brand. It’s the club members. Our job is to perpetuate the brand. I couldn’t have a better part-ner in that project than the Porsche Club. Many of my best customers are club members. So it’s a symbiotic relationship that we both benefit from. I love having club events here at the dealership and it gets people in and exposes them to the product and gets people re-energized about the product and the newer cars. Be-ing involved in the club is just part of taking care of my customers. Has Porsche’s purchase of a controlling interest of VW affected its overall philosophy? Market strat-egy? Product line?Since I’m not a factory guy, I can only say what my

observations are. I think that other than the kinds of advantages they’ll have with economies of scale and supply purchasing advantages, I don’t think there’ll be much, if anything that you’ll notice in the line. What you will see are some very positive effects on VW and Audi that Porsche will bring. Porsche is not just a sport car maker, it’s a VERY well run company with internal mea-sures that make it the most efficient and most profitable car manufacturer in the world. It’s a benchmark for the industry. VW and Audi will get the business and produc-tion benchmarks from Porsche and Porsche will benefit from the scale of economy of VW and Audi. I don’t think you’ll see any change in philosophy or market strategy that wasn’t already there. How does the current energy situation affect the Porsche market? What we’ve seen in our local market is the decline in SUV’s. The large performance vehicles are not fuel sip-pers. Truthfully, however, that’s just true for all SUVs. Porsche cars, though, are very fuel efficient, especially for the power they make. But the new regulations are based upon the footprint of the vehicle. So because we make a fairly small car, we’ll end up being penalized for our power. In this scheme, a Suburban has less stringent fuel regulations than a 911 even though the 911 is far more efficient. Add to that the average sports car enthu-siast only drives maybe 5000 miles a year in his or her sports car, meaning the carbon-footprint is already quite small, probably less than a Prius. U.S. legislation was written to favor the Detroit Three, who make a lot of big vehicles and trucks. What do you see in the future of Porsche?I wish I had a crystal ball. Porsche is the least forth-coming with hints. I don’t see a departure from the core philosophy of producing performance vehicles that are fun to drive. There have been at least two other fuel cri-sis situations and I don’t think we’ll ever see gas under $2/gallon, but we’re still better off than the European countries. No doubt there will be other fuel sources and technologies, but how it affects Porsche I don’t think it’ll change the core philosophy of Porsche. They’ll always make cars that are fun to drive. The one thing we know about Porsche is that it is a brand for enthusiasts. It will always be a brand for enthusiasts. That’s comforting to me. Porsche is dedicated to carrying forth as the brand for enthusiasts. That’s a clear path that you don’t find anywhere else in the automotive industry.

Former Porsche AG CEO Peter Schutz Visits RegionRegales with Tales of Family and Fortune

Story by Sean Cridland, Photos by Sandra One Feather Peter Schutz, the only American CEO of Porsche AG, visited the Roadrunner Region in early March to give a talk on his experiences at Porsche of Albuquerque. Organized by Steven Stacy and spon-sored by David Baker at Porsche of Albuquerque, the event drew a strong turnout of about 40 avid listeners. Dr. Schutz regaled us of his adventures with Ferry Porsche and all the most famous and legend-ary of the Porsche engineers and racing drivers. His time at Porsche coincided with many of the classic rac-ing cars of the early 80s and it was his drive to keep Porsche on top after the era of the 917 that moved the company forward in terms of its production practices as well.

But this was no dry, boring talk about cor-porate policy or production practices or even engineer-ing detail. Peter Schutz is a peo-ple persona and it showed in his

talk. With lots of hand-waving and gesturing and facial expression, the audience could tell that this is some-one who is passionate about Porsche and about life. He freely admits that he was one of the luckiest people in the world to land the job with Porsche, but it doesn’t take an expert in psychology to see that his passion for excel-lence, suc-cess and even for passion it-self is what l a n d e d him the job in the first place. Throughout the presen-tation he took questions, queried the audience, and in general entertained all who came for the early evening talk. Thanks again to David Baker and Porsche of Albu-querque for hosting us and to Steven Stacy for orga-nizing the event. And bravo to Dr. Schutz for paying the Roadrunners a visit.

Catalogues

I don’t know about you but I get a lot of catalogues in the mail. The Porsche ones get set aside for a time when I can sit down with a stack of them (and a glass of syrah) and create my own trip to my own mall, a mall with only stores that interest me. I don’t have to negotiate with my wife about when to leave Pojoaque for town, where to meet for a cup of coffee, and when to stop shopping and head home. Catalogue shopping sure beats the real thing. There have been times when the catalogues were full of post-its and paper clips, each marking a page with a part my daily driver 911 SC needed to keep it going. An SC with 130,000 miles always needed something, whether just a filter and two drain plug washers for an oil change every 5,000 miles, or a supply of those damn paper thin feeler gauges to be used to measure the gap between the rocker and cam lobe in the flat six engine. A Brake light switch for the master cylinder, an oil temperature gauge, rear wheel bearings, struts for the hood.... it was an endless list. Air cooled 911’s were a boon for the catalogue guys. They were cars that changed little for 35 years and had their share of problems, creating a giant stock of them out there, all needing many of the same parts.

My current two car Porsche collection is much newer, and because I have other cars in my fleet that can be daily drivers, each one doesn’t get driven as much. The 993’s spec for new oil is every 15,000 miles, and the 997’s is 20,000, so I’m only doing oil changes based on time passed, not mileage. The kind of parts these cars take is different, too. The 993 still has some old-tech bits, which you get from Performance Products or Vertex, but a lot of the stuff for it, and almost all parts for the 997, can be very specific, requiring a call to Sunset Porsche up in Oregon for factory parts, at a good discount for the struggling home mechanic. I don’t get as much stuff as I used to on my trip to my catalogue mall, nor do I at the real one. The truth is I’ve got everything I need, times two, in my shop and in my house. I do get amused by thinking how many 1987 928 head gasket sets or 924 Turbo turbochargers really get sold every year by the catalogue outfits, and the hopeful story behind those obscure purchases, just like having people watching fantasies at Cottonwood Mall. Today I’ve seen a nice genuine Porsche tire gauge in the Performance Products catalogue , with a unique and especially easy to use straight valve chuck. I’ll still be buying something on this shopping trip.

Ad NauseamAd NauseamSean CridlandEditor

It’s been awhile since you’ve had to suffer through one of my tirades, so I’m hoping that the four months of my absence has given you time to recover from the last one. Just kidding. Or not.... As many of you know, I had a few family and personal issues to deal with during the winter and spring months that kept me from sitting down to put together the Roadrunner Ramblings. You wouldn’t think that four months would be a long time, but be-lieve it or not, when I finally did get around to opening the file again, I’d about forgotten how to use Adobe InDesign.... No worries, it’s just like riding a unicycle. You still remember how, but you do have to fall on your butt a few times before it comes back. So hope-fully, I won’t get too sore and will start to piece back together how it all works. I want to thank all of the nice people who sent me encouraging e-mails during the spring months. Besides learning that I’m not alone in dealing with aging parents and middle-aged related health is-sues, I got a great reminder of the PCA motto: “It’s

not just the cars, it’s the people.” Everyone has been really great. I also want to thank all the folks who have been sending in articles and photos during this time. It’s overwhelming. Not just in terms of the talent and forthcoming contributions, but the amount! One of the most daunting tasks of getting back to work on the Ramblings has been just figuring out where to start! SO MUCH STUFF. But that’s not a complaint. I’m happy to see how involved so many people have become with our region. Just a few years ago we were worried about who was going to take on every-thing as members “retired” from active service. No worries anymore. The club is healthy and active!

Comments are welcome. We will print any responses that are not obscene or societally offensive. I may even change the name of this column if you send me something good enough to steal.

Wanted: Roadrunner Region Historian. This person would be guardian and steward of Roadrunner Ramblings from 1978 to present. The newsletters we have are organized by year, in binders, and contain the written history of our 40+ year old region of PCA. We also have copied to PDF on CD those years prior to the “digital age,” but these digital versions still need some annotating and re-shuffling. Issues from 1999 on are retained in their original MS Publisher and Adobe InDesign formats on CD. Job requires an understanding of the frailty and importance of old documents (and to treat them as such) as well as a willingness to learn about digitalization and archiving. Some scanning and writing is also needed to compile and submit small recaps of our history from 25, 15, and 5 years ago to the Roadrunner Ramblings each month. This is a great way to learn about and preserve memories of the people and history of our club as it moves forward into the 21st Century and toward it’s 50th Anniversary in 2017. Porsches in the NewsAs usual, Porsche is dominating the world. It’s become the majority stockholder in Volkswagen AG, has been overpowering all opposition in the American Le Mans Series with the RS Spyder and, to cap it off, has recently offered up the latest, greatest version of the Cayenne, the new Turbo S. With Porsche, winning is not simply a passion, it is a fulfillment of will. Something new? Not at all. As Porsche drivers, we all know that our Porsches are not just pretty sports cars. They are simply the best. Period.

When it comes to having a good time....The Roadrunner Region knows what it’s doing. President Liz Shaw and VP Jo Irwin display some good form at the mostly-annual Doc Long’s Pic-Nic in early June. The weather was great, the company excellent, and the food free! So if you weren’t there, you missed a great day of sunshine, food, fun and games and great Porsche camaraderie! Don’t despair. There are many more great Roadrunner Region events left this summer to share the fun and show off your Porsche.
