Sink your toes into the sand and paint with Bob. Produce a body of work, a series of paintings or your own conceptual solo show with your artistic voice and point of view. Bob will empha- size and demonstrate loose, expres- sive techniques in acrylic and paint primarily abstract. You can paint as abstract as you wish, in any water- based medium, and even use collage; this is your artistic, educational re- treat. Bob will assist you with your style and workshop goals. His honors include the prestigious Crest Medal for Achievement in the Arts and Franklin Mint awards. His popular work hangs in the permanent collections of internation- al embassies, corporate gal- leries, art col- leges as well as television and the enter- tainment in- dustry, and is represented by galleries in Santa Fe, Austin, Cambria and Key West. Creative tearing and paint splashing starts off this all new “Loosen Up Workshop.” This is your Artist Retreat. This workshop will emphasize loose, expressive techniques, not necessarily photo realism techniques--- of course, your style is up to you and Bob will help you with yours. He will focus on painting a series, based on specific color themes. One thing he will not do is to try to capture everything he sees, knowing he will be overwhelmed by the awesomeness of this trip! Your painting goals are also important to him. Please write down these goals in your travel sketchbook. The workshop will be primarily abstract acrylic - Bob often uses collage elements in his paintings just to give them a special kick, added texture, etc. Won't be a "collage workshop" per se. The col- lage will only support the paint. You can be as abstract as you wish! Daily, you can expect warmup paint sketching, brief painting and lecture demos, constructive critiques and plenty of time to work on personal projects. Come prepared to paint your stuff! We will meet daily on location and paint the beautiful places in and around Lahaina, Hawaii on the Island of Maui. We have many selected locations and will have an itinerary to share with you Mon- day morning of the workshop. Sink your toes into the sand and paint with Bob.

Produce a body of work, a series of paintings or your own conceptual solo show with your artistic voice and point of view. Bob will empha-size and demonstrate loose, expres-sive techniques in acrylic and paint primarily abstract. You can paint as abstract as you wish, in any water-based medium, and even use collage; this is your artistic, educational re-treat. Bob will assist you with your style and workshop goals. Burridge is the Honorary President of the Inter-national Society of Acrylic Painters.

Robert Burridge is a celebrated, contemporary painter, con-tributing author to artists’ magazines and publisher of his own books and instructional DVDs. Burridge is the Honor-ary President of the International Society of Acrylic Painters and a Signature Member of both the Philadelphia Water Col-or Society and the ISAP. His honors include the prestigious Crest Medal for Achievement in the Arts and Franklin Mint awards. His popular work hangs in the permanent collections of internation-al embassies, corporate gal-leries, art col-leges as well as television and the enter-tainment in-

dustry, and is represented by galleries in Santa Fe, Austin, Cambria and Key West.

One thing he will not do is to try to capture everything he

sees, knowing he will be overwhelmed by the awesomeness of this trip! Your painting goals are also important to him. Please write down these goals in your travel sketchbook.

The workshop will be primarily abstract acrylic - Bob often uses collage elements in his paintings just to give them a special kick, added texture, etc. Won't be a "collage workshop" per se. The col-lage will only support the paint.

We have many selected locations and will have an itinerary to share with you Mon-day morning of the workshop. You will receive specific instructions on our first meeting 4-6 weeks before the workshop.

Tropical plantations, glorious mountain views, blue green waters with magnificent shorelines, historic downtown, boat harbors, and authentic Hawaiian luau's.

Workshop Location: Robert Burridges’s workshop will take place outdoors on this beau-tiful Hawaiian island. Art in the Mountains has rented a condo at the Lahaina Shores Beach Resort, right on a swimming/snorkeling/surfing beach near the historic district amid the harbor, shops, restaurants, parks, and galleries. During the week we will meet in the resort lobby or on site. Many of the beach parks have covered gazebos, picnic tables, trees and restrooms. The condo owners we recommend provide the best deal financially compared to a hotel room and the resort directly. The condos provide a full kitchen. They cost $99 to $175 per night. Other recommended hotels are also listed. Lahaina Shores Beach Resort’s location is unique - the only vacation condo rental in La-haina, Maui that’s right on the beach. Set on the ocean's edge of Lahaina Town in West Maui along historic Front Street, stands the only beachfront condo resort. The 199-room Lahaina Shores Beach Resort features spacious oceanfront and mountain view condos complemented by resort hotel services and amenities. Stretch out in air-conditioned accommodations with full kitchens and oversized lanais perfect for whale watching, lounging and sunsets. Relax at the whirlpool spa or enjoy a cool beverage poolside on lushly landscaped grounds. Swim and snorkel on your own beach.
