Dear Bryant Families,

Bryant Elementary has a site-based management plan. This plan includes a Campus AdvisoryTeam (CAT), which is composed of teachers, parents/guardians, community, and business rep¬resentatives. The Campus Advisory Team meets for the purpose of implementing planningprocesses and site-based decision making in accordance with Board policy and administrativeprocedures and shall be chaired by the principal { o d Policy BQB Local).

A campus election process selects teacher and staff members and the community and busi¬ness members are principal appointed. The parent/guardian members will be selected by lot¬tery from those who show interest in serving on the team.

If you are interested in submitting your name as a possible member of the Bryant ElementaryCampus Advisory Team (CAT), please complete the form below and return it to the school of¬fice on or before Monday, August 27, 2018.

There are usually four meetings per year held at 4:00 p.m. at the campus. If selected throughthe lottery system, there will be a training at our first meeting so that you have an overview ofyour role and responsibilities. Selected Campus Advisory Team members are asked for a two-year commitment.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions. If you are not chosen as a member of theCampus Advisory Team, you are always welcome to attend any of the CAT meetings as listedin our weekly Bryant Bulletin.

I would like to be entered into the lottery to serve as a member of the Campus Advisory Teamat Bryant Elementary for the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 school years.

Sincerely,

Dr. William H. Rhodes(r t ret rn)

Bryant Parent/Guardian,

The attached form is very important if your student will have lunchtime visitors

throughout the school year. Please write the name of any step-parent, guardian,

non-school aged siblings, or grandparents that may have lunch with your student.

If you have more than one student at Bryant, please fill out a separate form for

each student. For the safety of all students, if a person arrives for a lunch visit

and is not listed on your student s form, he or she will not be able to enter the

school. Please ensure you read the attached form so you are completely

informed about lunch visitors.

In order for students to learn routines and build relationships with classmates, the

cafeteria is closed to visitors through August 31st. Lunch visitation will begin

September 4, 2018. Please see the 2018/2019 Student/Parent Handbook for all

lunch visitation procedures. Reminder students may have lunch visitors once

per week.

Katy Independent School DistrictParent Permission for Elementary Lunch Visitors

Student's Name: Last First Middle Lunch Period

Parents are the only persons who have the right to access their child; therefore, it is important thatparents designate other persons to whom they wish to grant lunch privileges. For safety purposes, KatyISD guidelines limit lunchroom visitors at the elementary level to parents/step-parents/guardians,nonschool-aged siblings and grandparents (accompanied by a parent or with written permission from aparent), or campus mentors. Visits will be limited to the 30-minute lunch period. Due to space limitationsat the elementary level, no exceptions to the list of approved visitors can be made. Lunch visitors do notinclude aunts, uncles, friends, or neighbors. In addition, lunch visitors are limited to three (3) guests perstudent per day except on days designated by the campus as a special event (i.e. Grandparent Day).Unusual circumstances may be approved/addressed by the principal.

Parents are asked to use the chart below to designate the family member(s) who have written permissionto have lunch (unaccompanied by a parent) with the above-named student for the entire school year.

Name of Person Relationship of Family Member

If a visitor plans to purchase lunch at the school, it is preferred that a note be sent to school with the childso that the cafeteria staff can be notified.

My signature below indicates that, as the parent/guardian of the above-named student, I give permissionfor the above-named family member(s) to have lunch with my child. I understand that if family member isnot listed above, a note from a parent sent to school on the day of the visit may be sufficient notification tothe school of my permission. A staff member may contact a parent to verify the validity of a note sent onthe same day of a lunch visit as deemed necessary.

Dear 2nd-5th Grade Parents

We are excited to continue to be a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)campus in second through fifth grades! We use technology quiteregularly to help guide and extend learning. We use technology in avariety of ways, including to take pictures and make videos to show ourthinking. We use them to create, explore, and elaborate our learning.

Since devices are limited in our classroom, we allow students to bring their own device to use atappropriate times and only as instructed. We have a no device policy for arrival, dismissal, lunch, and recess. We will not have free device time unless it is earned as a class incentive in the future. Atthis time we are only allowing ipads and other tablets in second and third rades. Cell phones will only beallowed for fourth and fifth rade students and may not be used for texting or purchasing apps duringclass time.

Students will be responsible for caring for their device s safety. Your child s teacher will provide aplace to store the device while not in use so that it does not become a distraction. Students are not toshare their device with any other students. Your student should be the only one handling their device. IFyou choose to send a device with your child, it will be at your own risk. The teacher and the school willnot be responsible for lost, dama ed, or stolen devices.

We will do our best to monitor, but we cannot guarantee things won’t happen. If your child is foundusing their device inappropriately, they will lose their BYOD privileges. We have a zero tolerancepolicy for inappropriate technology use. Of course, this is only with your permission. If you are notcomfortable with your child bringing a device, we understand. We have six ipads in the classroom thatcan be used, but those have to be shared.

If you give permission for your child to bring their device and keep it securely in the classroom, please sign the Bring Your O n Device Permission Form behind this form.

We will provide a list of FREE apps for you to download prior to sending it to school. Students will not beallowed to download or purchase apps or books during class time. If we need you to download a freeapp on the device, we will ask you to do so at home, so you are in control of the password. Wewill not be responsible for unauthorized purchases vour students make with vour password.Students will be given the Katy ISD Wi-Fi password and may ONLY access tools using theschool s monitored Wi-Fi.

If you have any comments, questions, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child’shomeroom teacher. To view Katy ISO’s Parent’s Guide to Wi-Fi, please scan the QR code below or visithttp://tinvurl.com/vap6r9b7.
