Robert Sorby’s new Excelsior range combines premium quality high speed steel (HSS) with the

latest titanium nitride (TiN) plasma coating technology.

The breakthrough bonded coating provides extraordinary life to any cutting edge and reduces

surface friction for a smoother more refined cut. When coated on flawless, triple tempered HSS,

cutting edge hardness is increased to a Rockwell equivalent of between 85-90.

The result is a tool that sharpens easily and has a durability and cutting edge that outperforms

even tungsten carbide.

Available in a range of hard working tools and cutters, the new Excelsior range is a must for

The new 12 inch handle for the Robert Sorby Sovereign system not onlylooks great but has the perfect feel and balance making it perfect forturning spindles. Its Softex non-slip gripprovides comfort and stability even during longperiods of use.

The Robert Sorby Sovereign handle system offers thewoodturner unrivalled flexibility:• Already available in 16 and 22 inch lengths, with the addition of the

NEW 12 inch handle designed with spindle turners in mind

• A NEW flat / tang collet increases tool range capacity to include scrapers,parting tools, spindle roughing gouges and many more

• Brass tipped screws secure blades without causing damage

• A thread coupler allows handles to be joined to provide custom lengths

• Hollow handle allows blades to be adjusted to preferred length

• Accessories include an internally fixed counterweight to assist balance

The new range of tools is centred on a comfortable aluminium handle into which aseries of micro tools can be fitted. This gives the turner greater flexibility allowingsystems to be customised to personal preferences.

To ensure all micro turning needs are catered for the range is now availablein five dedicated sets – spindle, hollowing, pen, spiralling andsandmaster. A further two combinations are available. The first, a12 piece set in a wallet incorporates the majority of tools fromthe pen, hollowing and spindle sets, while an attractiveleather tool roll combines six of the most versatiletools.

A total of 18 blades and fixtures are availablefor the system making it the mostversatile micro turning tool system onthe market.
